Sadly, the music industry doesn't work the way we would like it to, just think these: Power, Money, Hype, Manipulation, Oppression...
Big companies (Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group...) are in the position to control too much, such as financing radio stations and telling these radio stations what to play and what not to play, too much dominance and influence within the world of music: Venues (large etc), Media, Promotion, Charts...
I have been there and... Well! It isn't worth worrying about, because it is likely to stay the way it is.
