I am 3 yrs late, but I still loved this video (and I didn't even see yr face once). born and raised in old harbour, but I visit Spaulding, mandeville and Christiana with my hubby often. I spent a summer in Litchfield in 2003 and got to go to that community Centre in mile gully to watch a football match. went home to see my mom during the holiday, and missed my turn to Litchfield on my way back, ended up in mile gully. good thing I went to that match, otherwise I wouldn't realize until far that I'd missed my turn.
Lol that remind mi of the time mi lef Santa heading to Dover race track. Took a wrong turn in Christiana, end a drive out the whole a Clarendon hills. By the time mi reach Dover the races already ended for the day. The drive was relaxing though..D:
Okay! I have a whole lot of love, thanks, and respect for people like you in Jamaica who keep us up to date and informed about our beautiful homeland . Personally to me people like you are heroes and warriors who keep the flag flying high and the patriotism alive. I cherish the education that you put out there and that is why we nuh waan lose man like you. Nuff respect and keep up the great works.
I absolutely LOVED your comments and explanations. Thank you so MUCH for sharing this video. I am learning about that region of Jamaica and this was quite helpful.
Really enjoyed your video I was right there on Melrose Hill with you feeling the cool temps and looking at all the greenery,..Mandeville my hometown... Hope you'll post more videos! Thanks!! Stop a juici and get me a shrimp patty :-)
I'm from St. Elizabeth but I've never driven along those roads in my life. Then again, I left for the States in 1980. I didn't think I'd stick with this video for as long as I did but I found myself enjoying the road trip more than I expected. But, yes - my yoot, serious ting. Yuh fih get a Go Pro. All dat deh over-saturation and ongoing camera problems dem is ah distraction, mahn. But ah appreciate dih effort - Gad know.
I know this way very well. I'm from Manchester and my husband is from Montego Bay. We fly into mobay and drive this way to see mu family. Secretly it's for the shrimp in middle quata. Great video, glad I found you.
Ma yute , yuh neh tek nuh main road till you reach di turn fi go Christiana, anyways I used to drive there once every week, coming from Montego bay stopping in Santa Cruz, Mandeville, Maypen and then off to town. Big thanks fi di video tho.
Love di tour big time. One thing I must address is the accident in the big tree. Advice fi yuh. Drive according to the conditions of the roads. No brakes, no steering fi real? As a professional long haul driver in the USA just take my advice, we don,t want to lose good youth like you.
Wayne the decision to make this video was very spontaneous so this isn't something I do regularly. When I met in the accident by the 'the big tree', I was driving very carefully cause it was a wet day but what seemed to have happened was that because of the thick covering of the road, there is hardly any sunlight getting through so the road is always slippery so approaching that area I lost control and was saved by the tree.
This video is an example of how Jamaicans are incapable of driving safely. Most Jamaicans think that driving reckless and aggressive is "Driving". Thanks for the video nice but dangerous trip, nonetheless.
Do not use my video to generalize about Jamaicans. I made the decision to make the video and in doing so ensured that no one was harmed or even came near. Thanks for your comment though.
I will be in Jamaica in 2 weeks. I booked a rental car so I can drive around the island. However looking at this video I am still not impressed of the fact that the section of A2 road between Porus and the Clarendon boundary is still not in that much of a good shape.
Jamdawg, you have given credence to my previous statement about the wannabe literates posing with a set of BS degrees and letters accompanying their names and want to corrupt the minds of many and educating few. The Queens English has never been taught in a Jamaican classroom in Jamaica, Jamaican English has. I don't have to qualify myself by identifying my level of education but please note you doing so is not for validation but insecurity. Jamaican English is indeed the official language of Jamaica but you saying Jamaican Creole is not written nor used for formal communication leads me to wonder if you paid someone to do your degrees because you have no idea what research is. Please educate yourself, for once, by researching the Bible Society of the West Indies' Bible Translations Project and the Bilingual Education Project. If you statement was true neither would have been successful. As I have said to you before, please take your illiterate self elsewhere because I am not here to compare degrees nor exchange inaccurate information, this isn't the Ministry of Tourism's website, if you have a complaint, take it there otherwise please inform your Ivy League colleagues that you are a disgrace to them because you have made a fool of yourself and got them caught in the middle. Yours truly, Jamaica's Most Wanted ✌️
DJPRENTO WALKER if u knew anything about driving in ja u wouldn't post that comment. y didn't u instead ask y he was sounding his horn as often as he did? when u don't understand, learn to ask questions, don't be mislead by yr assumptions and draw the wrong conclusions.
IT IS SOMEBODY'S FAULT WHY THERE IS NO TRAIN RUNNING THROUGH THESE REGIONS - BUT WHOOOOO??? Clearly, whoever didn't have anymore use for transporting raw materials to be shipped to Europe to develop their country. The abandonment is cause by a lack of interest or an inability to maintain the building up the economic infrastructure of the country.
+Donovan roache Jamaica is an English official country not English speaking so before you make comments like this one, get your facts straight. I am not looking to put on or save face with my videos. I am sure I am understood by most of the 35000+ individuals who view my videos and at the end of the day I do what is comfortable for me which is speaking Jamaican Creole. You are part of the problem that exist that makes people feel inferior which this 'speak English' nonsense. If you are so bothered by my absence of English, please do not watch my videos.
Jamaicansowanted, I take issue with what you put forward as fact. Jamaica's official language is the Queen's English/British English. Everything is in fact done in English: School, church, government, business, etc.I left Jamaica nearly three years ago which would be in 2013; when I was leaving, British English, with mix of American English, were used to conduct business, for school, government, etc. Jamaican Creole, however, is a spoken dialect/language that is neither written nor used in formal communication. Most Jamaicans are therefore able to code-switch, when speaking, between Standard English and the Jamaica Creole. Secondly, if your intended audience is Jamaican and some Caribbean nationals, then by all means, you have all right to do your videos in Jamaican Creole. However, if you intend to have a wider cross section of people, then speaking Jamaica Creole would be very counterproductive. Jamaica nice less developed it's healthier and you can never find a house in America that look like the ones in jamaica
We are an English speaking country and I remember English is taught in all school in Ja. I think you owe it to viewers to try and speak English
