As a guy who saw Tool in a Boston club back in '93 - hearing THIS as the closer on the album was such an experience. I needed a nap after, as I am obviously old.

Yes the production on FI is top notch.
The only person to beat him is Eddie Offord. He produced YES. And they are a major influence on Tool.

Love the way Adam and Danny intertwine with each other at the beginning of this song. Adam really shines in this one. An epic ending to a fantastic album! Bittersweet though being this is the last album.
The last album that they’re contractually obligated to make.

Yeah! More Tool! Salival is awesome. Thanks for your reactions. I enjoy them a lot. I'm going to see APC, Pucifer, and Primus next Tuesday at the Wang theater in Boston for Maynards' 60th birthday tour. A Perfect Circle is planning a new album, Tool has some material that they would like to record, and Pucifer has some new stuff. Life is good. Spiral out, keep going 👍 😊
I will be the first to mention where the "7" comes from: the music is in 3x measures of 7 (21/8 is phrasing) and that number kept coming up. count the beats in the line:

This whole album is crazy good. Glad you you enjoyed it all so far. Can't wait for Salival, Puscifer and APC.
Suggestion - do Opiate album first. Then Opiate2 and then do Salival (which has some GEMS!). Stretch it out as it is bound to be years before they get the next album out. Worry about APC and Pucifer after you finish all the Tool songs .......

Picking Puscifer or Perfect Circle is difficult. Shuffle like you suggested is fun. Can reactors do random shuffling, like a grab bag? No one will know what's next!

This song has evidently been in the works since Aenema but it never fit any of the other albums. I call it Adams "Guitar Hero" song. I'm glad he finally gets to go off in a big way!
As a fan of Tool, and seeing this in person, this is one of the top 5 songs I can put in the Tool list.

I believe they used their extra riffs that they didn't use on previous albums for this song. When the album came out, i was a snob and only liked this song. All songs on the album are masterpieces, though.
I love this track, I really do. But, I wish the recording was cleaner. There are actual audio glitches and clipping on the master, I can hear it everytime even straight from the CD. Great reaction though 🤘🌀
