Can't compare Bowie and Prince... they attracted attention from ladies and gents... deservedly so. Both were androgynous pioneers. They paved the way for many other artist to just be themselves.
You haven't even touched the surface with Bowie the man is a legend !
I highly recommend "Heroes", "China Girl", "Rebel Rebel", "Young Americans", and "Blue Jean". His first BIG hit was "Space Oddity", which is a trip. And then of course, there was "Under Pressure", which he did with Queen!
David Bowie "Heroes"- a MUST for any Bowie fan...
You've also got to watch the movie David was in. "Labyrinth." It's just pure fun.
“Young Americans” is probably my favorite. Also “Life on Mars” “Let’s Dance” and “Suffragette City” are all great!
Let's Dance is a must for this era of his career.
So strange to me that these were the three Bowie songs recommended first when “Space Oddity”, “Changes” and “Ziggy Stardust” are all out there waiting…
Bowie and Bing Crosby singing Little Drummer Boy during a Christmas special is the best Bowie ever sounded. His voice was just angelic alongside of Bing's booming bass.
Young Americans.. another great song by Bowie.
David Bowie & Annie Lennox singing Queen’s “Under Pressure” in honor of Freddie Mercury is an incredible live performance
This song is on the album “Let’s Dance” and your next Bowie song should be the single “Let’s Dance”. Stevie Ray Vaughan was the session guitarist on the entire record, but you can really identify SRV on that particular song.
Under pressure is a good one. He sings with queen
David Bowie was doing what Prince does 20 years before Prince. He was the cutting edge, he shocked and appalled his fans with every new look, and to complement the look, he had to have a new sound to go with it. At least that's how it seemed to me. Under Pressure and Space Oddity are my two favorite David Bowie songs, and they couldn't be more different!
China Girl is another great song from the "Let's Dance" album. Another great song if you want to get on the dance floor. Stevie Ray Vaughns Guitar work really stands out on this album.
This is one of the FEW songs that I could listen to more than once in a short period of time. It just gets you to think in a fun way. It's one of the best dance songs out there IMO. The original song had 3 sax players and one with the trumpet. The Live Aid version had two drummers. It's so musically fun that it's hard to tell the difference.
Or Blackstar, that song blew me away in the few days between the day the album was released and David's death. I found the song intensely moving even before I knew he'd died, but after that it just felt like a gift from someone who knew his time was up. Everyone should hear this song, even if it makes them cry. x
“Space Oddity” is my fave Bowie song.
This is a good song. I like Let’s Dance.
You definitely need to go back to his early 70s songs such as Ziggy Stardust, Rebel Rebel, Jean Genie, Space Oddity.
