      OTR drivers sleep in their trucks in rest period per DOT regulations. So no matter the season the truck is idling with either heat or cooling running. Not a big deal.

      Are you kidding? Well this is my experience,I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma that has had 600,000 miles live in Phoenix ,well it really gets hot here ,being originally from S.Cal.I moved here and so every day 150,000 miles the radiator would need replacement ( before it left me stranded or a blown head gasket) well so for years would want a bigger desert radiator ,so Champion Radiator (U.S made) makes one for my truck but only makes so many a year ,so I waited then purchased one for the future,bought me a 3 row all aluminum (much bigger for the desert than 2 row plastic) well installed this beauty looked like a gem ,within 6 months blew a head gasket because I lost F water it got hot pulled over got it towed ,this thing had multiple leaks around when I poured this liquid that shows wear leaks come from ,threw it away it cost me $200 for the radiator,and I wanted my truck engine to last a million miles

      andddd...a thiner radiator(it was US spec)...when i came to replace mine with the middle east specification radiator it was alooot thicker when i inspected it out of the box ,,,,but it was so expensive at the stealership that a full aluminum radiator from ebay shipped from USA to kuwait is alot cheaper ...about 250 usd to my location in kuwait (it can exceed 120F Here by the way) an upgraded electric fan is on the way too instead of the clutch

    • @JodyBruchon
      @JodyBruchon Před 3 lety +2

      On the first-generation Ford Focus, there is no radiator cap and the coolant tank is pressurized. Bubbles in the coolant can be the system "burping" if any coolant was spilled from servicing or a leak (there's also no burping bolt on the car, the system is designed to burp instead). It doesn't necessarily mean a head gasket leak on such cars.

    • @joevelasquez2297
      @joevelasquez2297 Před 3 lety +3

      I'm my experience with this engine, they very rarely blow head gaskets unless run dry. More than likely the intake manifold gasket is leaking as it has ports that run coolant through it. These plastic intakes warp or crack over time and need to be replaced but these engines are solid.

    I had to replace the radiator in my wife's Sport Trac (same as an Explorer). To do it Ford installed the radiator and AC condenser as a unit and wanted the condenser evacuated and removed with the radiator. I didn't do that. I used my ingenuity and removed only the radiator. Still a pain, but no work had to be done on the AC. We ended up trading the Sport Trac in for an Avalanche. Been a year and no problems, yet. We'll see how long till problems show up.

    When it comes to radiator, better replacing than using epoxy. In this case being cheap turns out to be more expensive in the end. A tiny leak can end in overheated engine, damaged heads, and maybe even worse.
