Get Rid of Car for E-bike?!

Just got my first e-bike and I think at worst this thing will be fun to whip around my small town and I have a 17 mile park that they close the road off every weekend for that I live RIGHT next to. So at worst I'm going around my small town bar hopping and hitting local restaurants while also being able to get some exercise in at the park and hopefully pay for the bike by dashing on it all summer too.
Going to keep my ICE car and really reduce the number of unnecessary short journeys and replace with walking, ebiking and public transport.
The other thing with cars is how to replace it what with EVs being expensive and not going to get as much for my current car.
(hustle) I bike almost the full year here in Canada (oh, you'll get wet; oh, it's too cold; oh g*d, the snow, too hard to navigate; etc - all of which are nonsense and I'm saying that as one who doesn't have my e-bike yet!). But could I get by with no car? I wish. However, I am not single and there is no way my Love is joining in all-and-only bike life in the city. Also, we have a grandkid, so car seat. While I know of families who bike their kiddos and grandkiddos year round in snow climates (with cargo bikes and such), the whole family has to be of the same mind to realize that. So, no, sadly, we keep the box-trap-on-wheels.
If you only use a car every so often, maybe every other weekend for example, would you consider ditching the car and just using a car rental/car-share service when you need it?
Our car is paid off so it’s cheaper to keep it than rent when needed. If you have a high car payment may be worth that move.

How are you locking up your bike at your stops? Also what do you use for locks? Love your videos. Makes me want to deliver at 63. I'm not to far from you near Shreveport.

I use a D lock. I’m not sure the brand got it a few years ago
@@BigAndTallBiking seems like in Dallas you would need more. I have been thinking of getting a ebike to make grocery runs and other errands. And even here I feel it would better to have a great lock.

@@BigAndTallBiking One caution with kryptonite (similar) locks is they can be picked. Requires some skill, time and opportunity but its doable. Sadly, I know. But no lock is 100% secure. Best to use two different kinds of locks because the monkeys most often only have one kind of tool and if nothing else, it slows the @!#$!^s down.
