This video saved my cat! He was lost with an Apple Air Tag on him but my daughter, whose phone it is paired with, is abroad. I have a Samsung. After two weeks of searching with outdated screen shots of his location, I used this info to confirm his location and make his tag 'ping'. Got him back just before a huge snowstorm hit. In addition to adding other trackers, I wish they had the option to mark trackers as known. I use android for my phone but still use Apple for a lot of other things, so I have a couple of airtags and it drives me crazy that I constantly get notifications about an unknown tracker that is actually mine.

9 months later still not picking non-apple tags. I am a bit disappointed. I am on latest Android 14.

Weird, I have an activated Airtag right next to me and my Android doesn't detect it.
i mean its good but what about if u track your car and dont want it found. car thieves would use this for their advantage? therefor making the use of one pointless

@Shane Craig A guy I never saw before was stalking me two days ago while I went to get food. Yesterday I used this and it detected an airtag after several scans. I tried to play sound, but it said could not connect to device. I drove to a more secluded area to scan again. Another app detected two apple devices. But I could not locate and the app you show is also did not show an airtag. Question is can they disable the airtag remotely as in turn it off as soon as they track you so that you cannot detect it? And then turn it back on as they please?
I tried looking for it on my car, but there are too many crevices. I wasn't able to find anything or locate sound....please help. I haven't gone home yet. At relatives.

i was gonna put air tag on my motorcycle. i guess air tag is useless now if anybody can steal your items then make it beep, find it and just remove the battery. thieves will immediately use this app

Not just those air tags but any bluetooth tracker type thing. Got it on my Pixel 7
Google's own statement says air tags only for now
I suspect they only find Air Tags is because they're the most dangerous, Tile only works with other Tile users and if no one with the Tile app is near, then that tag is basically lost, since they don't do active gps tracking, it's mostly bluetooth.
Airtags however have been used to track luggage during travel or mail to North Korea etc, it keeps sending an active location to the home phone, since it only needs to be near an Iphone to work and so many has an iphone.
I saw many videos of women who had android suddenly had a friend with iphone jumping in their car and getting notification for an airtag, which leads to a search for that airtag, sometimes in the car shop since it was so well hidden.
This will hopefully minimise that risk and thumbs up for Google to adding this feature.
I have the feature. It doesn't work. I'm also running the Beta 14. So that could be why it doesn't work.

I checked the feature on my OnePlus 8 and it's already there.
My Android appears to have detected an Apple Air Tag. I continued to "play sound" but never heard anything. I was hoping to hear the the sound sounds like. What is the sound like? How do we get alerted when something is detected?

No. It is a "safety" feature.
Seems like these trackers cause some issues
Its on my motorolla edge 30 fusion
Now useless as a security device in cars/bikes/any item that gets stolen/ Cats/dogs/kids.
The only thing that this changes is now Android users can do what iPhone users could already do - detect airtags that are near them/following them. If this makes them "useless," they were already useless from the start.
I have several apple tags. This picks up none of them. My understanding is this feature comes to iOS 17.

I must say it is a lot easier if you are using a apple 🍎 watch ⌚️ and Samsung galaxy mobile phone you don't need to do anything the watch does the same thing as the phone

Mostly wrong - Tracker only detects nearby airtags. Not YOUR OWN airtags. Even if you log into Icloud. So if you have lost your cat and dont have an IOS device, it better be in the livingroom. There is no workaround on android or windows.
How would an Android phone know that an air tag is yours to ignore it? Of course it's going to detect your own air tags, it's going to detect any air tag around.
Tried with my husbands airtags, did not pick them up.
