I ran into James Burton a few times in Shreveport, La. Used to go to his nightclub in Shreveport. I would walk in the front door, look to my right, and Burton's standing right there on the stage ! Unforgettable !
I was there. And i also met Jerry Lee i think the day after in Copenhagen. He entered the hotel lobby with somekind of karate-moves, seconds later he stood just next to me looking into my eyes. He was in a fantastic mood.
IMO, the greatest rock & roll guy who ever played a song. There's no other musician who can touch Jerry lee when he was going full throttle. James and Kenny really did some damage as well. mos60
Ich bin ein absoluter Killer Fan. Jerry Lee und James Burton, eine absolute super Mischung. Beide perfekt auf ihre Instrumente, einfach der Wahnsinn, klasse!!!
Good Grief! Never thought I'd ever see this. When I could finally buy my own records the very first one was by Jerry Lee Lewis. The *second* one was by Chuck Berry. Yes. You guessed it. ...It was this one!
I saw this band and james burton and Kenneth lovelace placed some fantastic licks in unison. allman brothers got nothing on them. mind boggling. especially when you consider how well mr. lovelace places the fiddle.
On this day in 1962 {August 23rd} Jerry Lee Lewis performed "Sweet Little 16" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV weekday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'... One month later on September 9th the song entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #97, the following week it peaked at #95, and on it's third and final week on the Top 100 it remained at #95... It reached #38 on the United Kingdom's Singles chart... Between 1957 and 1973 the Killer had eighteen records on the Top 100 chart, three made the Top 10, "Whole Lot of Shakin' Goin' On" {#3 in 1957}, "Great Balls of Fire" {#2* for 4 weeks in 1957}, and "Breathless {#7 in 1958}... He had sixty records make Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, and during a two year period {1968 to 1970} he had eleven straight records make the Country Top 10... Jerry Lee will celebrate his 82nd birthday next month on September 29th {2017}... * The four weeks that "Great Balls of Fire" was at #2, the #1 record for those 4 weeks was "At the Hop" by Danny and the Juniors...
I love to hear him, but have you noticed that today, his left hand dosen't play the boogie as in the concert and the ones before. I have often wondered if he may have had a stroke.
I was there that night. The Killer was in godd shape but the sound was very poor. It actually sounds better on video. Got a nice talk with both Burton and Lovelace afterwards. Nice guys and very professional with fans.
Initially, this is much better than his cover of the same song, many years earlier. Unfortunatley, he speeds up. Oh, well, the tune is no masterpiece, anyway. Hats off to a great performer.
Fantastic
Jerry lee kenny and james burton...

2nd guitar is Kenny Lovelace. He's been with Jerry Lee since 1966 (according to Wikipedia).

Those two "killers" - Mr. Jerry Lee Lewis and the great James Burton live on stage together.
The result - Rock and Roll at his best!!!

I can name a few Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, Carl Perkins and Bill Haley, but other than that no.
Uh, Little Richard Anyone?
Bill Haley? What about Fats Domino?
Yes, nice to hear Burton and Lovelace together.
Little Richard's version of Roll Over Beethoven is much better, even the piano is much better and wilder

Jerry's morality has been questioned his whole life but I know no one who played the 88's like him...not even the GREAT Ray Charles played like Jerry

The keys still rock: "Candy Jean" by Josef Patchen
Jerry Lee is a little bit like Clapton in the sense his singing is just as good as his playing
