When Pete (Mark Wahlberg) and Ellie (Rose Byrne) decide to start a family, they stumble into the world of foster care adoption. They hope to take in one small child but when they meet three siblings, including a rebellious 15 year old girl (Isabela Moner), they find themselves speeding from zero to three kids overnight. It's actually pretty cool. My family fosters children. There are quite a few troubles, as the children have usually been through quite a lot of awful stuff. But it's all really worth it in the end because you make a huge impact in the children's lives.

Just saw the movie few hours ago. I expected to be average. Or at best, above average. I was wrong.
The movie is amazing. Funny as hell, cleverly directed, great acting, scenes that makes your eyes water.

by far one of the best movies i’ve ever watched. funny yet an instant tear-jerker. 11/10 recommend!
I was definitely only expecting some rose-colored, superficial version of what it's like, with clasic ridiculous problems made all better by a little bit of love. It was so much more realistic than I expected!
Showing how hard it is, for the kids and the parents, how messed up many kids have gotten, how so many of the problems are going to haunt them forever, and why it's still truly worth it.

This was such a great movie! I was afraid that all the best parts were used in the trailer but after reading that it was based on a true story I knew it was going to be heartfelt and had potential to make me feel good. So great, really!!! I love this movie and all the people portrayed and all the actors who made up the cast. I recently saw Father Hood and The Secret: Dare to Dream; Hands down, this movie blew those away.
This was a really special movie , my heart is completely touched , I never cried in a comedy movie before but the fact that this was so realistic and so many people out there are without a family breaks my heart , it isn’t their fault , everyone deserve to be loved and to be in love , Iam completely speechless and definitely recommend this masterpiece to anyone doubting , my heart is warmed

Amazing movie, making feel someone included is a big value and virtue. I believe movies like this really opens a window of understanding that how much we can do by making a room inside. I loved the emotional connection with comedy.

@@youssefmagdy7838 It is better to adopt when neither of the parents are alive, it is not good to adopt someone and call them your child and the child called you a parent when the real parents are still alive.
That is why I dislike this movie, the mother was still alive but the Foster parents wanted the children for themselves and wanted the children to call them "mum" and "dad". I found that wrong.
In my opinion, the Foster parents were been selfish.

@@TedEhioghae yeah but children aren't like three little State Fair gold fish your not gonna get attached to. Spending five months with three children and being expected to give them up like their a broken object isn't how it works if you didn't know. Some foster parents actually have feelings and can get attached quickly. This movie portrayed that amazingly. If you actually watched it thoroughly. And the excitement of being called mommy for the first time isn't something that all foster parents brush off like dust on their pants.
And remember Ellie and Pete weren't experienced and as shown in the movie they weren't aware that the children they had gotten attached to get ripped away from them when they finally connected as a family.
And also, it doesn't matter if the parents are alive. It's the question if their alive, and want their children, or if they are truly capable of caring for theur children. Not every parent gives a shit about their kids. The mother from the movie did, I could see it, but she wasn't capable. With her ongoing addiction that wasn't a good affect on her kids did it. Her daughter is taking nudes for a pedo and he son and youngest don't even want to be with her. Are you saying you want them to go back into that situation?
Yes they were being selfish, but it's hard to be when the foster kids you fell in love with's mother pops out of no where.

The beauty of this film is that the writer, Sean Anders, and his wife adopted three foster kids in real life. And this movie is to show the ups and downs of that experience.

I have a lot of respect for people who adopt children. Personal reasons aside, you have to be a very special person to have the patience and empathy to raise someone else's child and love them like your own, especially kids that are older and difficult to deal with. I mean even your biological child can be difficult to deal with at times.
This movie just made me have another level of respect for foster parents. They're like angels sent by God to look after these children. A lot of kids don't realise how lucky they are to have loving parents, both foster and biological.

I’ve watched this movie probably five times now. And I’m not going to lie, but it makes me tear up every damn time. Really makes me want to adopt in the future! No reason to bring any more kids in the world when there’s so many awesome kids waiting for a loving family. This has to be one of my all time favorite movies. Awesome.
I want to foster and adopt as well but with the one agency I looked at, all of the kids had special-needs, severe disabilities and it broke my heart. I could NEVER do that because I would feel too bad and cry too much. I don't understand how there are "millions of children in foster care" and yet in New Jersey, there are just one agency with children who have severe disabilities and special-needs, unlike the kids in this movie and the real-life story. Why aren't there more kids like that in the system?
