Thanks for the video! A small comment: I would not ride with any helmet without earplugs. Hiw does it feel with earplugs? I am really considering the Commander 2. Feels like a helmet that would work fir me. I am usually a size 59 (L). Tried it in a store and felt good but coming from a normal street helmet it might feel a bit loose compared to that.
Hey thanks! The helmet is comparatively loud. I use ear plugs on the highway all the time. Tunnels are particularly painful😭. Other than that, great helmet!

Thanks for the detailed and organized review! It seems BMW GS pure helmet already had the same features of commander 2. (other than the ECE 22.05 / 06 difference and of course shell sizes) interesting variants to actually compare :)
I have the same helmet, same graphics, also about 7-8 months old. I really like it. Bummer is that after my last tour about a week ago the rubber seal between the helmet and the visor started to come undone. Just tried to glue it back on today. Fingers crossed it will hold a little longer.
Thanks @@advinjapan. If ever your or someone else gets into the situation, don't glue the seal back with glue... The fumes in the glue discolour the seal itself, as well as the visor. I found out the hard way 🤷♂ Probably I better had chosen some sort of sealant...
Commander 2 has 2 more vents on the top of the helmet. Do you think that would be enough to help with the heat? I like this helmet for the weight and fc motor has the white at ¥55,000. But it needs to improve on the heat. I have the Shoei Hornet adv and it’s sooooo hot. If not the airoh, I’ll go for the Scorpion ADf9000 or maybe scorpion EXO-Tech Carbon (both same price but a bit more note worthy a brand) P.s. just found your channel, you’re the only other English bike channel I’ve found in Japan, good stuff. Look forward to getting the dirt trails from you on insta😁
Hey, thanks a lot. About the commander,2 That’s pretty cool I didn’t know that. To be honest, the difference in temperature inside helmets at this price point is so small that I think you’ll probably be better off just picking a light colored, preferably white, helmet to combat blackbody radiation. I think that, more than construction, is going to make the difference, because, again, at this price point these helmets are all pretty well designed and use very similar materials. That said, I have heard that the Shoei hornet is a very hot helmet.
@advinjapan my shoei is white, and I melt. It's pretty dreadful. The front vent makes no discernable difference open or closed Can you at least feel the airflow from the commanders chin vent? Also, are there exit vents on the back of the commander? I can't see any in any pictures
Yeah there are exhaust vents on the back. It’s better than my previous helmet for sure, but it’s still hot. The heat thing about the commander is the weight, super light. If you’re going with carbon it’ll be even lighter than what I have. It’s also compatible with goggles which is obvious much cooler. Be aware though, it does have the Japanese transportation safety mark so you cannot sell it here.
