    My favorite quote is "Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in America." I heard that when I played high school lacrosse in 2004. Literally twenty years later, we're still talking about poverty wages for lacrosse players and 95% of people still don't even know what the sport is.

    Things are so much better now than they were even a few years ago.
    Consider the other side though, many of these kids come from elite colleges, and prior to this many of them are working great jobs on Wall Street immediately after college.
    So that the trade-off you were making by going to play lacrosse first. You are likely going to make far less playing the sport, although it’s a sport we all love.

      You have to remember these guys are "working" usually two or three "days" a week, flying in from wherever to practice before their one game. $50k to work 15 weekends sounds like a pretty good deal. I think the best players at those elite schools that would get wall street/law jobs may look at careers that allow more flexibility (like the mentioned coaching, teaching, owning their own business). I know my job at a bank, most groups only come in three days a week now. If that sticks, guys can have the wall street (no so much trading but corporate jobs) and be working remotely on Thursdays/Fridays without missing a beat, getting that full salary while also having no issues flying out Wednesday nights and coming back Sundays. And the same goes for NLL/PLL guys. Could run the remote work Thu/Fri all year if you're playing in both.

    Box is exploding in the US aswell, being a Canadian it’s nice to see box growing because up here i don’t know a single person that would rather watch PLL>NLL and honestly both of those leagues don’t compare to the WLA/MSL. Even Sr B. Is picking up traction.

      Wla is awesome, NLL is good too but to much scoring and I’m not a big fan of music during the games.

    Health benefits come directly out of player salaries and are as high as 50% of some rookie salaries and expenses like food and ubers are also not reimbursed by the league.

    Running a team and working within organizations like US Lacrosse is also very lucrative. Maybe not every day players but those with a business mind or coaching mind can make bank through this aswell. One of my university's assistant coaches makes the majority of his lax money from running a local club team and doing occasional work for US Lacrosse, coaching us is his "side" job despite it being his biggest time sink

      @@LaxWeekly something about non hotbed city’s for lacrosse and how they’re growing. Like I live in Pittsburgh and the competition is actually a lot better than you would expect, like my school got third this year in the whole conference but the problem is that this one team called Mars has won the conference since 2014, and they won states this year and has been two states three years in a row and they also have many division one commits, play if I had two to get the video it would be about underrated cities because Pittsburgh gets overshadowed in Pennsylvania because of Philadelphia and obviously Pittsburgh is a top basketball and football city where many Hall of Famer‘s have grown up here. But I’m going into my junior year this year (5 days lol yikes) and I’ve Started every single year but I know so many kids from Pittsburgh they’re all my friends that are division one and now states like your hometown Texas and other usually football dominated Cities are now growing through lacrosse and have a very good teams. I’m also getting recruited by multiple division 2 schools lol but anything you post I’ll be the first one to watch it. Always will support you. Also lmao you should highlight how lacrosse is the most underrated sport and I always dream if having a big crowd and all my school watch our games like football and basketball. Lol ❤️

    • @nateduffy2872
      @nateduffy2872 Před rokem

      Lol also top 10 most underrated lacrosse cities (Pittsburgh is so underrated and my school is called north hills) the insane school who can’t compete with the Maryland teams is called Mars and they’re loaded with Division 1 commit, but I’m just so sick of all the division one commits from football and basketball from Pittsburgh and finally give lacrosse it’s cred

    I have a cousin that plays in the PLL and is an assistant at the D1 level. Between the two, he makes 6 digits easy. The PLL sort of reminds me of the early days of the NFL when players had to have a job in the off-season to make ends meet. What the current players are doing now will benefit future PLL players as much as it does the current players.

  • @lax9954

    high end NLL guys are making around 125k plus another 30k or so playing summer ball if they're on the right team

    What is absolutely insane is that in the NLL, Buffalo Bandits outsell the Buffalo Sabres in every single game last year! Average game sell is 12K+ seats and Sabres is only 10K+ seats. So the fact that these guys are making in the 30's is deplorable when considering the time, skill and effort that goes into training for that league. The base should be double! Traveres is a coach and a teacher. Matt Vince is a Goalie, teacher and coaches HS to make ends meet. Unreal... The only guy crushing it financially is Dhane Smith.

    If they’re paying guys that much this league will die faster than the MLL. When you can barely fill the lower level of a college stadium compared to how the mll at least filled the lower seats at M&T with the Baltimore Hawks. MLL should have been supported instead of making this crap league.
