    A lot of information, well presented and concise. Great Work!
    I would add that the baldachino was cast out of bronze taken from old roman statues (hence no more bronze statues from that time) symbolizing the transition and victory of the church over pagan religions of the past.
    Also that Bernini wanted to create a front facade that would be as high as the dome (thus obscuring the works of Michelangelo). But the ground didn't support the giant structure and cracks began to appear on Michelangelo's dome. Borromini took over and reduced the size of the entrance.
    Anyhow - thank you very much for the video! Kudos!

    I have an old out of print History book, I'm kind of a collector of them, and in it is a history of the Vatican, which reveals another Vatican having been built, and that one of the Popes of the early Church was dissatisfied with it and with work carried out on it and ordered it be torn down and another one to be rebuilt there in it's place.
    It tells that there were first many attempts to restore the original Vatican but that there were problems with it, one of the details I remember that stood out was the fact that many artifacts were thrown out, and that some of the men working on the site had plundered the goods, taking home artifacts to their wives and families, so in that case many were saved by them.
    Therefore there is likely families in Rome, and other parts of Italy and parts of Europe perhaps,who own some of those artifacts, and most likely do not know the history or where they came from.
    I've not found this history online, and it would be interesting to know more. The Vatican archives have so much and they are discovering new things and information all the time, so it may be that one day it may just be found, and I hope that it will be found, as it would likely contain much more detail, and would be very interesting in fact a most fascinating read, I'm sure.
    God Bless.

      The actual history is that Emperor Constantine had the Vatican Hill leveled, by filling in the slope where St. Peter's Basilica now sits. The site was a graveyard, mostly Pagan, but was the site that Peter was buried after being crucified up-side down. The first Basilica built by Constanine was falling down, large pieces of stone would fall to the ground, when people were worshiping, so it was leveled, and the current structure was built on the site.

    Im surprised at a Baptist school you are allowed to speak positively of the Catholic Church. I grew up Catholic in the Bible belt and the Baptists were cruel. They did everything they could to put Catholics down and slander us. I was a painter through high school and college to help pay for school. My Baptist boss would put anti-Catholic preachers on his boom box and blast it at me while I worked. They made sure on the regular that I heard that I was going to hell, that the CC was the whore of babylon and we were idolaters, etc.

    Good video. However, there is an error. The circus that was built near Vatican Hill was not the Circus Maximus. The Circus Maximus was much older and on the other side of the Tiber. The circus that was built near Vatican Hill was the Circus of Nero. It is in the Circus of Nero where Peter was crucified.

      Luke 6:48 describes the wise builder as digging deep and laying the foundation on a rock. The Rock on which we build is Christ Himself (Deuteronomy 32:1-4; Psalm 18:2, 46; I Corinthians 3:10-11). In this parable, Christ teaches us the importance of doing as well as hearing. In His description of the two builders, He judges them, not only by their care in building their houses, but also by the foundation on which they build. A rock foundation represents true understanding and right action - true conviction and commitment manifested in righteousness. Only in obedience and dedication to a personal relationship with Christ the Rock can we find emotional and spiritual stability - without which even our most dedicated purposes rest on shifting sand.

Unfortunately I do not have those books anymore so I cannot point you to the exact reference. @@joshgreene2417 There is no obvious biblical evidence that Peter was ever in Rome, but the first epistle of Peter does mention that "The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son" (1 Peter 5:13). It is not certain whether this refers to the actual Babylon or to Rome, for which Babylon was a common nickname at the time, or to the Jewish diaspora in general, as a recent theory has proposed.
      While the church in Rome was already flourishing when Paul wrote his Epistle to the Romans about AD 57, he greets some fifty people in Rome by name, but not Peter whom he knew. There is also no mention of Peter in Rome later during Paul's two-year stay there in Acts 28, about AD 60-62.

      @joshgreene2417  Před 5 lety +2

      @@Tessinentdecken Yeah of all the Apostles only Paul's journeys are really fleshed out in the Bible. But they each had a great historical impact and some of the very early documents we have from the Church, including the first Epistle of Saint Clement to the Corinthians (96 AD) point to Peter's martyrdom in Rome. As far as the builders of the first and second St. Peter's Basilica are concerned, they believed it was indisputable based on received oral tradition.

      If you study the origins of Christianity you'll understand how much Christianity was altered by the Catholic church/vatican to benefit only a few, so that they could remain in power. In fact, the creation story is way older (Summerian) and was reversed: YAHWEH was the one that emprisoned our eternal souls in a body, the serpent was the one who set us free. (Study the dead sea scrolls for example). The templars brought this knowledge to Europe and paid the price, they were forced to go underground, creating the foundation of many secret societies. If you look at the occult symbolism within the Vatican, you'll understand that they know the truth but keep us ignorant. Who knows what treasures are hidden within the Vaticans secret archives, its ridiculous that they are allowed to have a monopoly on this information in this day and age. If you like to know more, watch this documentary: czcams.com/video/Qm2qKmIEf8w/video.html You'll understand that there's no one true religion, all religions come from the same source. Its a beautiful message in this time of division.

    13 I met a Baptist pastor, he said, "What you’re saying is true but what can I do before a system that I have found in place? If I want to leave it, I have a great family to feed! … The facts are there but we’re obliged to present another side of the reality to people". He said, "We’re under the supervision of the State, becoming church-States like Catholicism for small subsidies…" And to comfort himself, he ended saying, "You know, God can pass through Caesar to bless you! Crows fed Elijah!" But I felt in him the uncertainty, at times he was thoughtful. You see? He knows that something is wrong, but he prefers to go to hell rather than to take the narrow Way. Thus is it of the sons of the devil! And before leaving him, he gave me all his phone numbers and he told me to visit him whenever I wanted to. You see?
