got this laptop, put linux os on it now its flying

I got a 110s which is this laptop's predecessor, it has a M.2 sata ssd slot which allows you to expand it's memory. i dunno if Lenovo continued it in the newer model but i recommend checking and if there is one, expand and move windows onto it

I bought one 4 days ago, and it's really quite usable. It does windows 10 nicely, and for internet browsing, it's great, albeit a bit slow, but for traveling and a weekend get away, it travels well in my camera gear backpack. I bought the WD Passport external 1T drive for $59 and the 120s I bought for $150! I'm happy.........
I bought a Lenovo 120s 11iap as well. I'm not very techy. I need some disk space. I want to just but a external hard drive from ebay. Can I just buy any with 3.0 usb type external hardrive?

hi. i just bought one of these. the microsd card comment might have been due to not inserting it correctly. You have to inside it with gold connectors facing up. At first i tried to put it in normally and got the same result as your viewer described.
Can I add 2 other screen monitors using the hdmi splitter, or is it only 1 screen ??
I got mine at Best Buy for $100 along with a Micro SD Card for $20. As soon as I got it home I wiped Windows and installed Linux Mint. Worked perfect and half the hard drive space. I use it as a travel laptop since I travel all over the world for work. I just bring along a HDMI cable and I have instant Netflix and movies on every hotel tv in the world. You can't go wrong with this choice.

This is actually a decent laptop. As they mentioned, it won't work for you if you want to use it for extensive tasks or serious multitasking, but it's solid for basic usage. I got it for my 8 year old son to simply teach him basic programming with Java and Python. I was able to easily download the Python IDE and the Java IDE. He can watch Hulu and Netflix on it, and has the basic Microsoft office toolkit for school work. I also considered getting this laptop for my grandmother, because again, it's great for basic usage. It obviously is lightweight for anyone who wants extensive usage out of their laptop. For work, I personally use the highest powered Asus laptop available, but this is the cheapest "notebook" for kids and people who don't need extensive usage from their laptop. This is less powerful than some laptops I was using as servers in the late 90's, but it'll handle basic tasks.

The card reader is not faulty! The micro sd card must be inserted 'upside down' ie with the gold contacts facing up.

This laptop is actually very good it can even game it plays minecraft at 30 to 60 fps on 4 render
If you get windows 10 edition it runs 60+ FPS on the highest render

Ray Lee Yit Lun Celeron, it's a newer processor, the Intel Atom they used on this Lenovo Ideapads is from 2014, I believe it was the Z3735F or something like that, The Celeron is 14nm is just from last year (N3350), it also has a newer version of Intel HD Graphics, All tho the default driver is slower to save on battery, just update the Intel HD Graphics driver from Intel website

Im watching this with this laptop. Just got it today and all i can say is DONT BUY IT. I only bought it even knowing the horrible specs because i thought i could just use it as a throw around computer i could use to watch youtube and netflix with the occasional essay on google docs. It barely loads a youtube video or netflix at all.I can say the build quality is decent as it is made with metal. I personally enjoy the keyboard and track pad. I am returning this tomarrow.
yo tengo un acer de 15.pc y la verdad es muy grande y molestp, tiene 4 gb de ram y 500 de almacenamiento pero aun asi quiero ese lenovo, solo le intalria minecraft y usaria crhomer y listo, haria algunos trabajos de la escuela power point y ya esta, es el mismo uso que le doy a mi acer y funciona bien, solo que es muy grande y pesado

I have this. It's strong enough to run office applications fine. The only thing that bothers me about this laptop is the horrible screen. Looks grainy with a gray cast no matter how I tweek the settings- this would be the reason I return it if I do.
HakunaMatata I appreciate your opinion on this. I was thinking that the screen should be quite alright considering the size to resolution ratio. Is it easy to see the washed out effect or do you need to pay attention to see it?

I thought the screen would be fine too, but it's just uncomfortable to use. I think it also has to do with matte (anti-glare) finish that makes fine details grainy which I'm not used to. The grey washed out effect is obvious when next to another laptop with the same screen. All of my laptops have a glossy finish which is much more beautiful and pleasing to look at. The blacks in this screen isn't so black, and the viewing angles are bad, there's only one angle to be able to look at the screen clearly. This laptop 14", is very comfortable to type on though and it's perfect for that.. Also very light weight and build feels high quality, and beautiful. If it's very cheap I'd get it, it was $150 for me Holiday sale. If my eyes don't get adjusted to the screen though, I'm returning it but I'd know I'd regret it because it's so nicely built compared to other cheapos.
HakunaMatata I'll try to get my hands on one laptop before buying it to check it myself, just to see with my eyes if it is as obvious to me too. Anyhow, I'm also considering buying an Asus Vivobook 203-NA which is quite the same specs.
Yea do it, it's not only me. My dad says it's harsh on the eyes too. These guys say it perfectly, "it's so dim and the colors don't pop". Let me know what you think of it once you see it.

4:40 The display isn't Full HD but the GPU support that resolution. And, together with 4Gb RAM and 64 GB EMMC, that's why this cheap laptop deserves a 9/10.

It's a good computer I have one but the SD card is a must and adds to the price it's a negligent cost tho and a very good deal to get a fully functional decent windows 10 laptop for less than 300 dollars I paid 150 for mine at best buy and def don't regret it

I have this same laptop and I had to remove windows and install Linux on it. Since windows sucks.
How did you remove and replace it ?
That’s easy. There’s two ways of doing it. You can turn the laptop on hit F2 to rearrange the boot order the hit F12 to boot from a bootable usb. Or you can take a paper clip and hold the novo button for like 5seconds, it’s the small little hole next to the Microsd card slot. Then after those 5seconds you will see a menu pop up with normal startup, bios setup, boot menu and system recovery. I went the easy route by using the F2 and F12 keys like you do on any normal computer that it’s a MacBook. I’m currently selling mine, since I have a new personal laptop now, it’s a little outdated to use in 2019. It sure does what I want to for an 11yr old MacBook.

tony king I was running Linux Lubuntu, you can any flavor on it. Ubuntu, Kali, Lubuntu and Debian are pretty big flavors in the Linux market.

kajuan pierce I agree if you're still running Windows. I installed Ubuntu Mate on mine and it's a good laptop for lighter use-cases. It's not exactly a gaming or production computer.
