    Wonder who his so-called friends were. Any non-black person using that word in Atlanta (where I'm from) is instigating a fight. He said he learned what it meant. From what he's saying he didn't really learn what it meant. I think younger black people are just tired of having the argument. Eventually somebody's going to be too comfortable using the word in the wrong place (especially in the Trump era). And why did he say N Bomb? Without context, no one would know what n-bomb is as opposed to the N-word. I've seen a few of these, and he sounds extra corny when he tries to be cool.

      @Sochi314 Před 4 lety +1

      I believe it is to get an understanding of how non-black people see the word. There are different reasons that all races say it. I use to wonder why it was a word that was not extinct and have argued with black people about removing it from their vocabulary.

    • @ajayyamour745
      @ajayyamour745 Před 4 lety

      Sochi314 we took that word and made it ours and only ours it was meant to hurt us now we use it. There’s no reason for any other race but African- Americans to Use it. That’s it and that’s all... that word was meant to degrade us and oppress us and it does hold historical purpose. That’s just that.... no other race should be telling a black person they can’t say a word that was created to insult them... it’s completely ridiculous

    • @Sochi314
      @Sochi314 Před 4 lety

      Ajayy Amour I’m now aware of any other race that is telling black people whether or not they can use it. I don’t personally subscribe to it nor do I understand the “taken it back” ideology. I find it odd for an artist for example to have a song riddled with it, have their fans buy their music and say, you can repeat everything but that as though it is bleeped out to their ears. What is the point of educating a foreigner on its history and then ignoring it because it is an unnecessary part of our vocabulary?

    • @ajayyamour745
      @ajayyamour745 Před 4 lety

      Sochi314 African Americans created hip-hop and rap... so i find it hard for us not to express ourselves because people outside our race can’t say one single word...

    • @ajayyamour745
      @ajayyamour745 Před 4 lety

      Sochi314 and the ideology of taking the word back is truly based on the fact that like I stated, that word was created to hurt us, belittle us and put us in a box. When I say we took that word back I’m saying we use that word and made it so that it doesn’t effect us. We overcame that word We took that word and turned it into slang we use amongst one another.. let me say that again ONE ANOTHER, it became etched in our everyday vocabulary specifically Ebonics which is African-American Vernacular example a person outside that race saying the word can be very triggering because of its significant impact in our history. This was something that outsiders labeled us as with the sole intentions of degrading and belittling... so the word coming from anyone else but our own is seen as completely offensive. Especially adding on the injustices we still face as a minority in the country as well... politics and racism go hand in hand in this climate we face today... people are more overt with their racism due to our new president and it just gives us all the more reason to guard that word...

    Interesting take. I think a part of the issue I had is my perception that the younger generation of African Americans are desensitized to, and disconnected from the historical context of N-word; hence, their not so tactic passes to others to use the N-word indiscriminately.
    My argument was, no one should use it. The basis of my argument was that no other ethnic group uses derogatory slurs as a badge, if you will, the way African-Americans do. However, in recent years and in thinking more deeply on the issue, my thinking was changed somewhat as the distinctions between these two words became clearer. The differing use of it also highlighted the creativity and genius of African-Americans to transform something ugly into something worthy by simply changing the spelling of the word. The nuisance and feel is just so powerful that it give you pause. Incidentally, this is the real genius of the African people--they're the alchemists.

    Black people used the N-word to take power away from the word
    But the context that the word is being used in now isnt the same as those who flipped the context of this word
    So because of this no one should be using the N-word
    This word has traveled around the globe and is being thrown around cavalierly as if my ancestors weren’t beat, raped, murdered, hung, and treat it as if they weren't human
    So no one including black people should be using this word
