What a GEM! It is no coincidence that even small displacement, well engineered bikes back then were amazingly fun to ride! Out of all the bikes I have, my HONDA MB5 gives me the most fun and 'band per buck'! Even more than my large bikes!
Just finished restoring mine, a yellow/black one. All i can say is that you get noticed on the road. There is always someone who is asking what is that thing, or somebody asking if i am willing to sell it :) Dont hesitate to buy that bike, a blast to drive, its a big bike for its engine, reach at least 50 mph. Yes it can attract cops because of it insane sound, but its 100% legal.
@@der_nona_275 Hi i dont know, do you have the exact same bike as in the video? or a later european model, If so, i think maybe they are restricted. Theses old dt model in north america until 1995 reached 50 mph.
Nº 1 motorbike in Portugal when you're a teenager. Famous for being reliable and prefered for the youth to transform and add some extra power to the engine for street racing or just for having fun... ;)
I bought a blue an yellow one back in 1989 all by buddys had Honda Sprees and I was able to get it registered as a moped, I would just destroy them all day long. They even would try all types of mods on those Hondas and id still smoke em ! The bike was so much fun, 1st gear you could wheelie all day and just throw gravel when you caught 2nd.
@@rubentorgersen1467 It's going quite well actually besides much of the paintwork is shitty. I care more about function than looks, it goes 60+km/h all original which is very good for being what it is. It might actually be faster too since the speedometer is probably wrong. The bike itself is now in good condition and everything goes smoothly. I repainted all plastics, fuel tank, swing arm worst parts of the frame, the entire top end(which turned out really nice), the whole exhaust system. I have replaced the tyres, seat cover, kick lever, gear shifter, cylinder top and piston, piston needle bearing, chain and sprockets, clutch plates and more. "New" front forks are on their way too because the old onew are leaky. I will for sure do a deep restoration in the near future when i get the money i need. Powdercoat frame, swingarm and other parts, engine overhaul, restoration of both wheels, restore the old front forks, maybe get new plastics etc.
Len Gaming wow, thats pretty good! I bought a DT50 MX 1989 from a friend earlier that Im doing a restoration on, only problem is the money for new part tho🤨
I have one exactly like this I acquired a couple years ago here in Oregon. My 15-year-old and I think it is to coolest little bike which they still had more like this. Willing to sell for the right price
Like this? me myself have an older dt50mx, aircooled, fun bikes :) www.ebay.com/itm/original-Scheinwerfer-Lampe-Einsatz-Headlight-Unit-Yamaha-DT-50-MX/401077166594?hash=item5d620fe202:g:hb8AAOSwezVWzWNE&vxp=mtr
I had one of these. It was reliable, but ultimately a piece of crap. About as exiting as dog shit. However, my brother had a TS50X and that was a great little bike; faster, more fun to ride and sounded better. I was jealous.
O boy, I had one of these in 1982 , air cooled.,o yeah coolest kid in the block
Model 1988 and u had it in 1982 ok
I'm 48 now and I had this for a moped at 14 years old. I loved it.
