    The Airfix box art is still by far the best of any of the other manufacturers Kits,but,the Italeri Stirlings are fantastically well detailed.

    I like the sarcasm regarding the photoetch

      You could add a grain of wheat bulb internally to highlight the interior m8.

      Yes, I could, but it's more the lack of sight lines than a lack of lighting! Still a brilliant kit though.

    It is time Airfix released an excellent 1/48 short stirling kit now, what are they waiting for ??? Nice build Gary !

      Don't see them doing big bombers in 1/48th any time soon. They missed the boat on the 1/72 Stirling, of course, as the Italeri one is really nice to build. Hope they don't make the same mistake with the Halifax...

      @@garys_stuff Hi Gary thks for your answer, you see I don't live in the UK so I'm not really aware of the Airfix projects: maybe hk models will ? 🙏. I'm working on the 1/48 HK Lanc and it is just great !
      Tks anyway.

    Such an evocative image on the old Airfix box. Great memories. Enjoyed your video, looking forward to your build of the kit

    Great review! Thanks! The distance between the rivets is too wide in my opinion, but this can be easily corrected with a needle or rivetter

    Hi Gary, This will be an interesting build, I'm all ready for part two, coffee is brewed, to be fair its just after 7am here in NZ, so I could be waiting a while.😁

    Looks like a Great Kit Gary, I love your comments re Photo-Etch. I'm presently struggling with my Eduard 1/48 Spitfire Mk.I Douglas Bader. I say struggling as it is my 1st crack at the stuff, so slow going for me. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Always amazed at how far this hobby has come since 1965.

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  Před rokem

      If you can then I'd suggest getting some high-viscosity superglue to use with photo-etch. It takes 10-30 seconds to cure so you have a bit more time to make sure things are where they are supposed to be!

    • @willwoods6466
      @willwoods6466 Před rokem +1

      @@garys_stuff That's what I'm using presently, except for the Instrument Panel, where I used PVA, aka Kids Elmer Glue.

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  Před rokem

      @@willwoods6466 that's what I used on the Stirling - there is a decal for the instrument faces then photo etch to go on top - PVA makes the best sense!

      I saw one when I visited Airfix back in the summer. It is very cool and given that Corgi and Airfix part of Hornby you would think Airfix would have used their 3D scan data to make a new tool...

    That I would love to see built.. rare aircraft to see in a kit. Re the wings.. is there enough space internally to connect them with a piece of plasticard or a length of sprue?

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  Před rokem +1

      There probably is if you want to do it - the bomb bay has a kind of planking over the top of it and there is nothing above that where the wings are.

  • @petesmodelcarcustoms584

    Good look at the kit,Gary 👍😎. I would have preferred to see some crew figures rather than the details that,you describe,as being unseen when built😣🤔. But some of the details are very nice indeed👍😎. Thanks for showing and best wishes from jolly old Norfolkshire 👍😎Pete 🤓

    Hi Gary, that looks to be a great kit, not a very often seen or heard of aircraft, my only comment would be the panel li es and rivet detail looked to be a little heavy, but the interior detail looks fantastic, good luck with the build, looking forward to the next installment, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  Před rokem

      Yes les, they are a bit heavy but I'm wondering if they'll look better for it with the black paint and some pale panel liner. Guess I'll find out! The rivet marks, etc., on the inside are very good.

      With the dark scheme that heavy detail will not be very visible in most viewing angles if it was finer I think.
