Great video Magnus! I’m actually in tears here, because my wife also has MS and we’re dealing with the same stuff as JRyan and Nicole. Car culture can be a lifesaver and meets such as GVBC are just the escape many of us need to keep going. Big shout out from Norway🙏🏻

I’m an old motorcyclist and I frequented Newcombs 2 or 3 times a week. I actually bought a home in Wrightwood because of my love for the Crest. I’ve been heartsick since the closing and it’s been worse since the 2 has been constantly closed. I always rode one of my bikes there but I’d see the Porsche guys on Friday mornings. What has happened to Danielle? Last I knew she was working at Ralph’s. She was a mother and friend to so many of us. Please let us know what we can do to help resurrect this iconic landmark.
Where’s my tissue😢😢… seriously though, this IS what GVBC is all about. J and Nicole have already built a legacy…but opening the doors again and really promoting it right will be a dream come true for the entire community. 👏👏👏. Make it so universe…make it so! 🙏
Me and my dad were the ones that were trying to reopen it! I’m glad our good intentions were captured and we’re both so happy J and Nicole are moving ahead with the reopening. See everyone up there tomorrow!
I'm trying to type this through my tears.... and a knot in my throat. 22 years ago, I found Newcombs, I was a young 20 something guy on a motorcycle, being lost on the most beautiful road, on a perfect day... made some of the best friends there, lost some on that same road as well. I took my wife on her first ride up there when we first started dating in 2012... Newcombs means a lot to soooo many, and to hear it will open again just made my heart skip a beat. What an honorable legacy for Nicole, love does make good things happen and I wish her nothing but well-being. Ok can't hold my shit... I'm officially crying.

This one really hit the feels button. J and Nicole are two pillars of our local car community that has world wide pants (little joke for J), I mean world wide reach and visibility. It all happened so organically, and that is the secret sauce that makes this bowl of misfits, artists, influencers, businessman, athletes, musicians, all walks of life and even an this humble Aquarium and Pond Guy, brewing into this perfect collection of personalities, stories and of course the cars. I can’t think of a more perfect stewardship of Newcomb’s Ranch than J and Nicole. Watching the two of them struggle through Nicole’s Fight with MS brings it home. They let us in and see the not so glamorous side of what they have to go through together. All of which makes seeing her big bright smile all the more rewarding. I can’t wait for my next visit to GVBC. Thank you for sharing our corner of the earth with the rest of the world Magnus. Beautifully captured.

This one hits the heart in a very special way.
Wow! I started out watching this video thinking what a cool car Jay had. Then when he started talking about his wife and the road trip I felt a bit of a twang in my heart. Really cool what they are doing to the ranch too but man, that last freeze frame still shot of you, Nicole, and Jay really got to me. I think you should have that printed out and framed and then present it to Nicole and Jay. Oh, and I hope you let her keep the hat.
The final drone shot of the 911 driving back down highway was a perfect ending. If they gave out "Best CZcams Video Of The Year" awards this one would get my vote.
I used to live in the LA area and would run all the great roads down there. I've been many years gone now and live near Lake Tahoe (I was hoping to hear Ryan's story about it 😁) but am thinking I'd like to make a trip back down there and do a run to Newcomb's for a GVBC meet up. Need to research more info like when they go and can anybody attend.

Have a lot of beautiful (and horrifying) memories about the Angeles Crest and Newcombs since the late 80's. I'm a motorcyclist (mostly Italian and German with a CB550F thrown in for good measure). Had the privilege of being part of the Monday morning gang when all the people who worked at motorcycle shops would normally have a day off and take a breakfast ride up to Newcombs for a bull session and a chance to eyeball and or lust over another manufacturers latest offers. I worked at an Italian bike shop for a while and was either on one of my bikes or whatever they wanted me to show off at the moment. It was fun watching the Harley guys go into full lust mode when I pulled up on the latest MV Agusta.
My favorite ride on the Crest was the narrow windy road up to Mt. Wilson. Rock wall on one side and a thousand foot drop on the other.
Spent one Thanksgiving there myself. Perfect!
Please save Newcombs for future generations.

Wow, what a great video! I had been riding motorcycles up to Newcomb's since 2007 and was really sad when it closed down. My wife and I even drove up there in the snow to check on it many times during covid. I'm so thrilled to hear that good people like J Ryan and Nicole are wanting to bring it back as it was... exactly what Newcomb's and the community of motor enthusiasts needs!
This was a fantastic video. The gentleman in the yellow 997 reminds me, of me. My beautiful wife has Parkinson’s and we also seek driving adventures in our 2006 997 C4S. We will be coming to LA in June and would love to visit Newcombs Ranch and hang out. Love your community of friends. Peace

I've been driving sports cars, riding and racing sportbikes on Angeles Crest Highway with my sportbike buddies, and having weekend breakfasts and lunches at Newcomb' Ranch since I first moved to Los Angeles in 1983. It is a nice mid-stop on the Crest between La Cresentia and Wrigtwood - and epic drive on awesome roads. In the '80s to '90s Newcomb's was dominated by sport bikers. It wasn't until around 2000 that sports car guys started showing up in big numbers.
Then around 2015 the Forest fires, road slides and snow closures, and then the Pandemic 2019 put Newcomb's out of business. The place was put up for sale around $6.5 million by the family who owned it, but there is no way with seasonal road closures and just weekend restaurant business, that it could be profitable for a new buyer. But with J Ryan starting his Good Times Breakfast Club a few years ago as a gathering for sports car guys on Friday mornings, and being appointed as caretacker by the owners, at no purchase cost, then it can afford to be reopen on the weekends and survive.
