Hopefully the engine is rebuilt properly this time and will run perfectly once you get everything put together. As an old school old fart, I very much miss cable operated throttle bodies; I understand the reasons for the electronic ones, but when I floor the gas pedal I want the throttle to snap open instantly, dammit! And to close when I want it to. This is going to be a truly amazing car when you're done, and now I'm looking forward to the new project.

Glad to hear you'll be doing the motor yourself on the next build. In your shoes I'd be wondering "How many other jobs has that shop done half-assed?" Not many of their customers have 628K people following their builds, or the potential business killing publicity if the same second class work is done to their motors. Doing the rebuild yourself, and documenting what you get to learn during the process, is going to be fun for all of us to watch.

When putting o-rings into a tight dry hole lube is your friend. Normaly you use what ever lubricant they will be encounting in use. So if they will be seeing crank case oil you use some crank case oil. If coolant you use coolant etc... They do make o-ring grease since you use so little of it contamination is not really consider to be an issue. Just like if you are trying to get bicycle handle bar grips on you do not put them on dry normaly you use a bit of soapy water and they go one fast and easy and when it drys they stay put.
O-Rings can sometimes tear when you try to install them dry because they will stick to the surface and as you insert the part it pulls until it tears as you force it into place.
