Never change. Your commitment to doing things to your standards is the exact reason I watch your videos first before I get to other content creators.
👍
I'm hoping Integrity still exists in Small Companies, but it's more likely that they noticed Sarah's YT channel is exploding and dont want bad publicity. In either case, I am happy they rebuilt a HORRIBLE first attempt to rebuild this engine.
Rock on Sarah. Mark from Nashua.
The Infiniti Q45 cable throttle body is 80mm and a popular upgrade for many race engines.
Pin this comment!
Hi, its 90mm if i remember well :D .
"Just a piece of plastic"...that came from your DAD's engine. We totally understand.
And has the correct stickers on them to prove provenance.
Oh no! The BBQ shop was the awesome neighbors that you never want to see move away.
No doubt. I hope they are moving because of great success and the need to expand. They’ve certainly been a great neighbor for Sarah.
@@Primus54hear hear
Maybe Sarah could move into the vacant shop?
Maybe they will leave a BBQ grill for you.
The BBQ shop has an awesome neighbor too.
When you said you weren't going to let an outside shop rebuild your engines anymore, I actually yelled out "YES!". Your level of obsessive detail is my favorite part of your videos. Like when you were picky about that plastic cover. I love that! Keep up the great work!
I have no doubt the engine shop only fixed it because of your channel and your amount of viewers. Im sure if it was my engine they would have laughed and said piss off.
Absolutely impressed with your skills and attention to the smallest details. Never apologize for how you do what you do or why you do it. It's your build, do it your way. Only a fool would not want to watch the progress of your build.
Thanks for all your work Sarah
Swapping out the metal bolt sleeves in the plastic timing covers is absolute attention to detail! I would have never thought of doing that or even think that was possible! Bravo!
About the engine shop, my wife would say, ‘Wouldn’t it have been easier to do right things right the first time?’
The problem is that you don't learn how to do right things right until after you've done wrong things right.
Yes, but shit happens. I'm impressed with the shop because they stood behind their work and made it right. That's the kind of company I prefer to work with.
Impressed by the engine shop? 😂😂
Lazy halfassness the first time...
Yeah I'd want to go there again for sure.... 🙄
Not impressed. Not one bit. They are just trying to cover their backside from backlash. That's all.
I bet somebody’s new job for a bit is shop cleanup....
My dad used to say, "If you had time to do it twice, how come you didn't have time to do it right the first time."
The dedication to perfection is one of the best aspects of this channel.
I love watching someone, who loves what they do. It is obvious with the care taken, that you care. Shine on you crazy diamond 💎 ✌️
I'm a Charlie fan. Age, experience and creativity. Every friendship has a price. I hope his is worth keeping. :)
Infinity Q45 is the throttle body you’re looking for.
More specifically, one with no traction control.
Seriously? A one-owner 1974 Celica. This is rare, an unusual survivor.
and it's gonna be sweet af!
Now two owner.
Tell Charlie we love him
And a Wild Charlie appears!!
As soon as I see that notification of a new video..., it makes my day!
I will always appreciate just how much is shown on your channel, it's real and not like snap here is everything done.
Looking forward to Sarah taking the time to show what the measurments of an engine are used for, rather then just glossing over them being taken like the majority of build videos and magazine articles.
I don't care what anyone says you are fun to hangout with 👍👍❤️🌹
I think I understand. I keep old tools because they were my Fathers.
You are the most detail oriented person I have ever seen!
So nice to see working on cars does not always go to plan, as is the case with all other car shows! In the real world, there is always something waiting around the corner to crash the plan! Very refreshing and honest!
You need to get your dad a drive in that Celica some day as it has his old trucks heart in it
15:42 you can modify the dbw throttle body to accept cable. Happy to share pictures, I did the cable conversion on my 3UZ, because old school...😂
The DSM guys back in the day with custom manifolds would use a "mustang" throttle body pattern. Lots of aftermarket size choices and throttle cable driven.
That's what I did with my Mazda. Mustang throttle bodies are simple and cheap.
New subscriber here. Loving the content. Your Nerdy funny car videos for us people of the world watching car videos on the internet rock. Keep hustling and we’ll keep watching!
As a person of Planet Earth watching videos about cars, I was happy to see this one in the notification list. Hopefully the engine is rebuilt properly this time and will run perfectly once you get everything put together. As an old school old fart, I very much miss cable operated throttle bodies; I understand the reasons for the electronic ones, but when I floor the gas pedal I want the throttle to snap open instantly, dammit! And to close when I want it to. This is going to be a truly amazing car when you're done, and now I'm looking forward to the new project.
80mm Billet Throttle Body w/IAC Provision from Wilson Manifolds.
My son works for that F-16 squadron flying above your shop.👍
You are much nicer than most people. You did the right thing not mentioning the engine builder and offering them a chance to redeem themselves. 👍
I cannot express how relieved I am to see this lump finally return in acceptable (?) condition. Dunno how you reacted off-camera, but you're way more generous than I would be with that half-assed rebuild.
3/4 assed?
Not fully assed.
When the rest of the car is fully restored, why leave one rusty sleeve in a plastic timing cover?
The amount of time and effort you put into the little details doesn't go unnoticed, Sarah. This is A+ show quality work!
Definitely want to stay with factory sensors! My dad went through several aftermarket knock sensors and hundreds of dollars before I convinced him to buy factory. Had to show him the oem/aftermarket sensor readings with an oscilloscope.
This is the coolest build in youtube history !!
Sarah, an extremely classy move in your dealing w engine shop. It take a special person to act and do what you did. Keep up the incredible work
For the engine stand, ask Charlie to make a solid rod mounted in bearings so it can rotate easily. Currently it appears to be a sleeve fit only.
@@Calango741 A well made sleeve fit would be better than bearings, you don't want that to spin too easily on it's own. Adding a gear reduction is the more common move, with worm gears it even holds itself in place.
I had a 2004 Tundra that I drove for years thinking it was a cable throttle body. Then I discovered it was electronic. Use the electronic one. The engine computer knows how to talk to it. It had perfect response.
Period correct is not necessarily perfect.
Glad the machine shop came through for you this time. 👍👍
Would have loved to hear the unedited tirade the first time that motor came back ❤️😅😎
Engine looks so much better now.
Watching you do a full engine build would be top shelf content. I'll be looking forward to that!
Re: your Spotify mix tapes
My daughters LOVE the 2001 Audi mix, which we listen to in our 2002 truck. And I listened to the 1992 MR2 playlist while driving my 93 Miata. Listening to period correct tunes in old cars is indeed awesome.
Pallet jacks are way fun, as much as a forklift
But they don't lift high enough.
Check out Xcessive manufacturing's 1UZ Throttle Lock, all it is is a machined piece that drops into the internal mechanism in the 1UZ throttle body that locks the cable reel to the butterfly
Often when I need to turn the engine on the stand I'll use the engine hoist on the manifold studs of one side to turn it and ensure it stays airborne, or resists gravitational forces at least.
Gonna be a beast when this car is done.
So glad that the engine shop made things right. I'm proud of you for taking the high ground and not doxxing them. So stoked to see you work through the fitting issues as that wonderful engine gets fitted into the Celica. Strong Work!
14:37 I would be concerned about putting anything with bearings in an ultrasonic cleaner. You take the risk of washing away the lube. Might feel ‘ok’ spinning it once you take it out of the tray, but could fail sooner down the road.
I couldn’t tell if you totally submersed it or not. Just a heads up!
Drill 2 places for a zirc fitting on your engine stand so you can grease the rotation.
I use a Belle cement mixer gearbox on my engine stand. It's a godsend.
"DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT." Sarah gonna dew what Sarah dew.
Glad the rebuilder came through. Now 627,000 of us can stop holding our breath.
So very important to use only OEM sensors on the 2UZ-FE. They don't tolerate anything else.
You can use a vvti 1UZ throttle body and make it 100% cable driven, I did on my 1UZ swap for my is300, there's a plastic piece that installs into the throttle body to allow it to be 100% cable driven.
You are such a breath of fresh air when compared to so many "CZcams Divas"........Stay who you are!
Nice Bush quote!
Sarah! Love watching your builds.
It's gonna be so satisfying watching you start that car and drive it out of the shop after all of the engine challenges.
You should get a forklift. Would be an awesome project to watch an old one get the Sarah treatment.
Nowhere to park it
1uz Toyota forklift
Yeah, I like that.
@@SarahnTuned What about a Big Joe electric version?
Throttle Bodies from about '98 thru '04 on MoPar's are cable.
Glad to hear you'll be doing the motor yourself on the next build. In your shoes I'd be wondering "How many other jobs has that shop done half-assed?" Not many of their customers have 628K people following their builds, or the potential business killing publicity if the same second class work is done to their motors. Doing the rebuild yourself, and documenting what you get to learn during the process, is going to be fun for all of us to watch.
Double Nutting the Hotdog in the Hallway is about 15% of the reason I am subscribed. Also whenever I think I am obsessing on my own automotive projects I learn new levels from Sarah
“Don’t worry about it.” I love it! It’s your car. Do what you want.
i like the old fashioned tv montages you used in this vid lol. and i love that you're realistic. a solid 50% of building a car is just waiting for parts to show up, or fixing other peoples fuckups, or making them fix their own fuckups. exhausting honestly. im always happy to see the notif pop up that youve uploaded another video
MAD RESPECT for any W quote. 😁
Sarah, just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your attention to detail and quality. Your knowledge is impressive. I hope you do take time for yourself and not really work 24/7. It is also great to have Charlie stop by to add some engineering spin to the topic.
When putting o-rings into a tight dry hole lube is your friend. Normaly you use what ever lubricant they will be encounting in use. So if they will be seeing crank case oil you use some crank case oil. If coolant you use coolant etc... They do make o-ring grease since you use so little of it contamination is not really consider to be an issue. Just like if you are trying to get bicycle handle bar grips on you do not put them on dry normaly you use a bit of soapy water and they go one fast and easy and when it drys they stay put.
O-Rings can sometimes tear when you try to install them dry because they will stick to the surface and as you insert the part it pulls until it tears as you force it into place.
Also, Holley make a 80mm cable driven throttle body. Not exactly JDM, but just paint over the brand label or something.
Excellent vid Sarah, we absolutely adore Charlie he's knowledge and experience is so invaluable ❤
I agree about the plastic covers. IMO 'beauty covers" on this engine would just be wrong. But the covers for the timing belt are functional. 😎
You know it's cold outside, when you go outside and it's cold! :)
The GWB quote is PRICELESS!!!!
Thanks and algo's
Sarah being Sarah is always a WIN!!!!
A person would have a hard time finding somebody better than yourself to oversee any kind of project like we've seen on your Channel. Absolutely great work.
About freaking time!!!
This episode was a nothing burger... annoyed.
This content is perversely riveting Sarah. Your drive and total knowledge domination of this task is wondrous. Why you don't have 5M subs is baffling.💚💚🔥😎
Years ago when I was a station personality for a kids radio station, I got to drive the Zamboni at a NHL game between periods. Bucket list item CHECKED OFF.
Whenever you get this up and running, you may want to do your first oil change between 500 -1000 miles. Micro-debris could be floating around after an engine rebuild & it's better to be safe than sorry.
Build a 8x10 plastic room to build engine in with table inside....
Thanks
Drive By Cable is definitely the most reliable way to go when it comes to throttle bodies!
Love the new cartoon-like video graphics (words on the screen)
Thanks, Sara! 💌
I thoroughly appreciate you.
I’m stoked! I’m so excited to see this coming together. Great job, of course.🙂
Thanks!
Really love watching this come together
Great video, thanks
That's the OCD Sarah we love!!!
for some reason the jaunty background music makes things so much more fun
Bringin back memories of pallet jack races on graveyard shift at the warehouse
I’m gonna bet the second attempt success might have a something to do with the fact you got 627,000 subscribers. I bet this one works…
I rebuilt a 3SGTE engine myself with JUN cams forged pistons etc etc and it was bomb proof..
It's the right call to do it yourself, very satisfying.
2 jobs however you will need to farm out are any kind of skim ie head and I also had the cylinders honed by a shop but everything else you are more than capable of doing and I very much look forward to seeing this.
Keep up the fantastic videos Sarah,I very much look forward to watching them however I do sometimes wish you had a few sponsors on board to make all this effort a little more worthwhile for yourself 💵💵💵 and I'm sorry to say I haven't watched any car reviews for a long time but I guess others do 👍🏻
The reason I didn’t is because I’m next to a body shop, and dust is everywhere.
Sarah I totally agree with you cleaning your hardware. I remember many a day spent leaning over my coffee can with solvent and a toothbrush! I liked it clean I just wasn't as smart as you! Love your show, thanks!
I love how long this car is taking. I didn't own a vehicle with a 4.7 when it started. Problem recently corrected.
Yes! Sooo lookin fwd to how this turns out!
Hi Sarah and thank you!🌻🐧
You're awesome Sarah
So great to see it all coming together!
Loved your "DONT WORRY ABOUT IT."
