Long tail deserved better. He was literally betrayed by his two closets friends, his apprentice was killed by the dogs one of them sent and got blinded as a young warrior by a rabbit that fought back and this ruined Mousefur's life because she liked him. So much potential in one character

Also, I can't believe I just noticed what the constellations on Starclan cats mean. They're past disabilities removed; like Longtail's blindness being cured, and Briarlight running up to him in Starclan with constellations where she was previously paralyzed! That's such an awesome idea and detail that I'm disappointed I didn't catch it sooner!

@@xinwang8685 It's towards the very end, right after The Great Battle : 4:07 to 4:10 (she's running up to Longtail from the left of the screen, and you can see a constellation over her back injury). You also see her when she's alive and caring for the elders (before her injury) at 3:04, where she's in the middle of the screen carrying moss / bedding out of the den with her mouth.

Looking more into his character, he was betrayed, lost many people, all his ''friends'' basically left him, leaving him to guide himself by himself was underestimated, had emotions but never showed them. He's one character when I started reading I hated, but he matured and I love him all around because I understand him!
I know! Especially when he lost Swiftpaw… now swift is in my top 10 and Longtail in top 20…(coz,curse the Erins,they just threw him away to the elders den)
I swear everyone’s like “long tails” bad and he’s my fav character!it was never fair to him he stood his ground than his friend left him his app died his friend and he had trained him hard and he got yelled at by Firestar than Firestar came back to apologize and than he was crushed by a tree getting killed and than he never got the chance to love mouse for which I think he would’ve ended up with mouse fur
LongTail is probably one of the most depressing cats.
He was introduced on a bad impression; bullying Rusty(FireStar, FireHeart, FirePaw.). He then made friends with two of the most evil cats in ThunderClan, completely blind. When he realized, it was just sad. Now, he is truly a better person without TigerClaw or DarkStripe’s influence. He mentored SwiftPaw wonderfully, only to find out he dies due to TigerClaw/Star’s dogs. When he tries to be good and alerts FireHeart/Star, he is turned away due to him being a suspect of traitory. And now, he died from an unstable fallen tree, and not to have peace in StarClan, but to fight the cats from hell; his old buddies.
This is really why LongTail is my favourite character ❤️✨
Fr also it was so messed up cause when tigerclaw asked longtail to join him, and when he refuses, fireheart think he’s a coward. But if he went fireheart would also judge?. Like. Cmon fireheart.
@@LillianaLobster Longtail had been nothing but a bully to Fireheart up to that point so to be fair, he really had no reason to trust him. Would you immediately trust someone that bullied you? I sure wouldn’t. Fireheart realized Longtail wasn’t like Tigerstar later and accepted him.

This was honesty so amazing- I almost cried when Longtail was running from the dogs with Swiftpaw's ghost.
The only criticism I have for this is that I wish Mousefur's death be accurate to the books. She got her neck snapped from behind.
Other than that, this was so beautiful and extremely emotional, especially for us Longtail and Swiftpaw lovers

I feel like the artistic interpretation translates better than the book version, the neck wound for visuals is better story telling. Drawing a neck snap would be interesting but, the neck wound just gives the audience more clear story telling. I prefer the wound personally. It's more obvious what's happening

I love how it actually felt as though Swift & Long truly cared for each other, and when Long is running from the dogs, he gets the courage to continue as he remembers Swift. I love how it looked like Swift was the reason Long stayed, and how he was upset at Dark for what he did. I love how he tried to defend Mouse, and he brought her to Starclan, I appreciate the fact Mouse & Long don't look like lovers.

Yo this actually made me cry!! I love that you focused on more specific parts of his life that not a lot of people draw attention to with longtail content!! Your expressions are so well done you can feel how every cat feels and it really hits home!! Also omg i love the constellations under starclan longtail’s eyes!

I never stepped back and thought about just how unfair Longtails life was and yet in the end he was one of if not the kindest cats and one of my favorite cats.

I metaphorically cried during this. In the books after Longtail was dead Mousefur says "I liked the old den better, it smelled like Longtail" which really shows how much she missed him. I hope they are happy together in starclan!

The poor thing was betrayed, had his apprentice killed by his 'friend', and didn't even get to see his apprentice become a warrior or die at peace. He was crushed by a tree!
Tears began flowing when Longtail looked behind him and saw Swiftpaw running from the dogs instead of I think Sandstorm, and then they ran together..
I feel like having the scene where Tigerclaw, Longtail and Fireheart go out to find a different route to four trees and Tigerclaw sends Fireheart to test a scrawny branch over a creek and Fireheart falls in and almost drowns but Longtail pulls him out in here would make it so much better because he literally saved a life, and because he saved that life he saved so many more
I have never paid much attention at Longtail but this helped me realize how much he actually lost but he's still loyal to ThunderClan

Awe this is amazing!!! Longtail is one of my favorite characters from the books and I think his story and growth as a character is one of the best out of most of the side characters in the series. He was such an important cat throughout the series and taught me as a child that just because someone grew up or were raised around not the best people or role models doesn't mean that they are bad themselves or don't deserve another chance. Darkstripe was the perfect foil for him too to really prove that he had changed and grown past Tigerstar and Darkstripe and I love how this pmv shows how much of an impact Swiftpaw had on him!

It's surprisingly hard for me to find videos of Longtail, but when I do they're fantastic. This one is no exception!
So many wonderful details which are often overlooked, like when he tells Fireheart about the dogs and despite being doubted, persists because it's the right thing to do. He even saved Fireheart from drowning once, which is pretty cool. I am a bit confused though, is that Fernpaw leading the dogs away with him?

I remember feeling bad for him in the books when Fireheart was super suspicious of him.
After Tigerclaw got banished, Longtail was willing to warn Fireheart about worrisome things, like Darkstripe meeting up with Tigerclaw in secret.
But Fireheart was really aggressive and didn't believe him in any way, instantly accusing him of trying to lure him to a trap just because Longtail was familiar with Tigerclaw.
Fireheart didn't act right during those moments imo
the scene of him running away from the dogs with swiftpaw's spirit beside him really had me choked up and close to tears. longtail's relationship with swiftpaw was something so precious and i hate how it was cut short. it's amazing when i see people show just how much it meant to longtail exactly. he was such a great character. this is an amazing video. < 3
This PMV is so great. Longtail, in my opinion, is super underrated. He trusted and was friends with Darkstripe and Tigerclaw but he wasn't aware of their sinister plans and was betrayed by them. Fireheart refused to believe him at first because he was simply friends with the cats he trusted. He recieved his apprentice, Swiftpaw, only to have him killed by the dogs that Tigerclaw had control over. He's one of my favourite characters
Beautiful representation of Longtail's story! My favorite detail is how you portrayed serious injuries in Starclan, with the little constellations around them indicating they've been healed, even though the scars remain. Noticed that on both on Longtail's eyes and Briarlight's legs/spine in the ending bit! Plus I love how in contrast, the Dark Forest's killing blows remain dark, gaping wounds.

I love Longtail and this PMV has everything I could have asked for! It covers really well his story and motivation. So many things are often overlooked: the fact that he was so loyal to Tigerclaw because he was an inspiration to him since he was young, that he was Ferncloud's second mentor, his friendship with Mousefur and Purdy, him admitting to Fireheart he knew about the dogs... I'm so glad to see it here.
It was a nice touch to see 1) Swiftpaw run with him from the dogs (I actually screenshot it) and 2) Longtail gaze at Darkstripe and Tigerstar's falling paws at the end. He managed to stay on the right path and he's right to be proud of it :D
Only thing I'd add is that Longtail wasn't actually angry at Tigerclaw when he was exiled, he was just scared and confused
I like the art, it's the kind of style I enjoy the most. It's a bit clumsy from time to time but the proportions are right, and the style is already well defined, so I can easily see it perfected with more experience.
(Also the constellation eyes are dope)

2:43 Oh my gosh. The detail of Swiftpaw running alongside Longtail as they lead the dog pack through the forest in a life-or-death race right after Longtail has imagined how Swiftpaw must've felt when he died... I teared up right away when I saw that.

The part where Swiftpaw’s spirit was running alongside Longtail with the dog’s legitimately had me tearing up… Longtail deserved so much more than what the writers gave him and he truly is one of the best complex characters in the series. Thank you for bringing Longtail justice with this beautiful animation :)
Longtail was one of the greats of Warriors. When all his close friends went down a dark path and his apprentice died, he alone stood tall and stayed true to himself. Honestly, he did deserve way better than the raw deal he got. I hope he found Darkstripe in the Great Battle and beat the frack out of him. After all, Darkstripe and Tigerstar weren't expecting Longtail to be as noble as he was, only fitting their poor judgement get thrown back in their faces. Hope this dude comes back in the Broken Code to get rid of Darkstripe.
This is so beautiful!!!! The emotional beats hit so hard, you captured every scene so well. What an amazing job.
Longtail has just become one of my new favorite characters in Warriors, and this video on him is cool! His character arc is great, with him starting off as a bully who sneers at Firestar (his rudeness influenced by his two "best friends" Tigerstar and Darkstripe) But his friends turn on the Clan and on him, and Longtail loses his half brother and apprentice Swiftpaw because of one of his former friend's actions. Longtail proves his loyalty and good heart and reconciles with Firestar. He gets blinded and has to retire early sadly and becomes a nice elder who befriends and looks after Mousefur. He then dies by getting hit by a fricking tree, but goes to StarClan where he reunites with Swiftpaw. Mousefur joins him later on.
I have personally connected with Longtail for the longest time, as like him I had two best friends who likely were friends with me for the wrong reasons and weren't the best kids to be friends with, as their loyalty and honesty was questionable.
Anyways I liked how this PMV delved
into Longtail feeling sad about how he couldn't have saved Tigerstar and
Darkstripe (meaning saved them by stopping them from becoming villains) and not being able to save Swiftpaw and never getting to train a apprentice from start to finish; Swiftpaw died before his apprenticeship was finished, Longtail finished the last half of Fernpaw's training, and before Sootpaw became a warrior, Longtail got blinded and had to hand over his mentorship to Thornclaw.
The song, "How to save a life", might not be one's first choice for a video on Longtail, but it fits. Longtail wishes he could have saved Swiftpaw's life and the lives of Tigerstar and Darkstripe (not their dying necessarily, more so saving their lives from going down the dark paths that they went on)

This pmv is great! I love warriors content that go into background characters in detail and show what they're doing/thinking when they're not in the main story (like Longtail imagining he's doing this for Swiftpaw when he's leading the dogs away, and showing him in starclan/fighting the dark forest cats). Long tail was one of the first cats ive ever drawn and he is personally my favorite right next to tallstar, to say that this caused me to get choked up is an understatement

Longtail is probably one of my favorite characters in the series, and this really just shows all the reasons for that. He had such great character development, he and Dustpelt both were so fiercely loyal to their clan, never to Tigerclaw.

I already knew that Longtail turned good during like the 5 book but this vid really made me look at it in a new light. If only Mousefur hadn't tried to save her nest or smthing when the tree fell (correct me if I'm wrong, haven't read WC in a long time), he would still be alive. And good to see some original animations, most MAPs use the same ones. And also great to see a MAP about Longtail, this is the first I've seen about him

Wow... I didn’t like Longtail in the first book cuz of how he treated Firepaw, but this video really made me appreciate his character. When he learned about his friends’ evil intentions, he turned his back on them and began to better himself as a warrior of Thunderclan. Well done, this is beautiful.
Longtail is such a great character! Its sad that the only parts that we see him in are in Firestars pov, considering his high mistrust.
I just realized something. Every time the song says 'I lost a friend' something bad happens to a cat he has a friendship with. For example, Tigerclaw is exiled. Swiftpaw dies. 2:33 He is reminded of Swiftpaw's death, which I think counts. Darkstripe is exiled. His 'friends' are in the dark forest, about to try to destroy everyone.
I assumed this would show the moment that Longtail saved Fireheart by pulling him out from the rushing river. I can’t believe it’s skipped over.

1:08 just my opinion but that may be the cutest scene ever. Also this looks amazing and the sing fits really well. Love your style the last part made me want to cry-
Longtail has and will always be one of my favourite characters. I think it’s because he hides behind quite an unpleasant personality, which has formed from the shame and embarrassment he has faced in his life. Like for example, here’s some of the most memorable Longtail moments in the books (in my opinion).
1. Disobeying clan rules when on a hunting patrol with Darkstripe, by eating prey without delivering it to the rest of the clan first. What makes this even worse is that it was during a particularly harsh leaf-bare. As a result of this, a sick and dying Poppydawn is overcome by starvation and weakness and therefore dies. Longtail always blamed himself for her death.
2. Fighting and losing to Rusty. Rusty was just a kitty pet, with no previous fighting experience. Longtail on the other hand, was a warrior at this stage, and an experienced one too. To make matters worse, he lost half of his ear in this fight whilst Rusty went relatively unscathed- apart from losing his collar. For this one, I don’t know whether to feel sorry for him or to find it amusing. It is quite laughable, which makes it even more embarrassing. Besides, it means that his relationship with Rusty would be in quite a bad state for a good while afterwards, and it would take a while for both of them to gain respect and trust in each other.
3. Being asked by Tigerclaw to join him and betray the clan, in front of the clan. The fact that Tigerclaw was exiled and asked Longtail to join him in front of basically everyone else makes me physically cringe for Longtail, because of how awkward of a situation it would’ve been. He must’ve felt awful conflict in that moment- Tigerclaw was a very good friend of his, but Thunderclan was also his home. He must’ve been so embarrassed and as though he didn’t want anyone to associate him with Tigerclaw; like he wanted nothing to do with it, but he was dragged in anyways against his will so it’s like ahhhhh😭
Anyways , 4. His apprentice dying. I guess this ones just really sad. It’s made obvious during the books how desperate Longtail wanted Swiftpaw to be made a warrior (like when he was frustrated at Fireheart when he had sent Swiftpaw to get backup instead of allowing him to display his fighting skills in front of Bluestar), so when Swiftpaw almost inevitably developed this same hunger to become a warrior, it was a recipe for disaster. It meant that Swiftpaw dragged himself and Brightpaw into a viscous fight with murderous dogs and it became a complete bloodbath. Not only does Brightpaw lose her ear, eye and sustained permanent scarring to her face, but Swiftpaw was killed during the battle. I’m almost certain that Longtail felt responsible for what happened to both Brightpaw and Swiftpaw, and as though he was incapable of mentoring apprentices after all.
5. Getting blinded by a rabbit and therefore having to retire. Of all the ways he could’ve lost his sight, being clapped by a rabbit while trying to have a peaceful hunt is probably one of the more embarrassing possibilities. But the fact that he was relatively young and had a whole warrior life ahead of him, and was forced to retire into the stinky old elders den is soooo.. annoyinggg. Also, this meant that he was deemed unfit to mentor Sootpaw and so he had to give that apprentice up too. Interestingly, I don’t think Longtail ever fully mentored an apprentice, even with Fernpaw- she was Darkstripe’s apprentice before she was his, and when she did become a warrior she almost immediately became a full time queen (😭). Also interesting is how Sootfur died- his back legs becoming paralysed before dying… it kinda reminds me of Briarlight…
6. His death and how he’s partly responsible for Briarlight becoming paralysed. I know he was trying to do the right thing- running back to retrieve Mousefur’s mouse because she felt that leaving it was disrespectful.. but because he tracked back, it meant that Briarpaw also was given the opportunity to race back with him. When the tree fell on the elder’s den with them inside, Longtail died and Briarlight was paralysed from her lower back and was left to forever live in that condition, as a consequence. Again, I know he was probably much happier in Starclan after his sight and youth was restored, but I can’t help but imagine that he felt guilt over what happened to Briarlight, in a similar way to how he’s left feeling guilty quite often in his life.
Anyways, yeah, that’s pretty much it. I like how Longtail’s character was written. I feel like his unfortunate-ness went very much so under the radar in the Warrior community. I haven’t touched the books in years, but I think of little side-characters like Longtail, Swiftpaw or even Whitestorm or Thornclaw quite often for some reason. Dunno why!
Longtail really grew on me as the series went on! He's a great character!
Oh gosh, this made me cry! I love this!! I always took Longtail for granted. I never really realized how much he went through. This is beautiful, you can for sure tell how much emotion and effort was put inot this beautiful project.
Only heartless people didn't cry at the end.

Longtail's character arch is one of my favorites. He is one of the most loyal cats in the series, and had to turn his back on his best friends because he realized what they were doing was wrong. He made up with Firestar and recognized his mistakes, and remained so well-loved by his clan.
Longtail's story is so sad, maybe one of that saddest and maybe even one of the most creative ones that don't go overboard
