- Stay was a huge success for The Temptations. Being the first single released for Phoenix Rising, a CD from 1998. It features all 5 members on lead (Line Up which was, Harry McGilberry, Terry Weeks, Otis Williams, Barrington Henderson & Ron Tyson). Done on songs like "(Loneliness Made Me Realize) It's You That I Need" or "I Can't Get Next To You". The most popular mention about this particular song is it's sample of "My Girl". The bass strings are instantly recognizable. On main lead is Theo Peoples but in the music video its credited as new member Barrington Henderson to avoid confusion. Copyrights owned by Motown Records (1998).

Ok, you people really need to read the WHOLE description. I'm sorry but I'm getting tired of getting notifications of people trying to "correct" me on whose singing lead. I said it has shared leads but at the end I clearly state that Theo Peoples is on lead. Just because you have to read a little bit more doesn't mean its not there. Read it, thats what its there for..

This hurts sooooo very badly and I wish that You could've "STAY", your birthday is in 3 days on: Tuesday August 4, 2020 & your anniversary is Friday August 7, 2020. I Really Love and Miss You Soo Very Much Moma, I'll Never Ever Get Over Losing You All Of Sudden & nothing's making any real sense without You Here......Everything's just totally different now, Nothing seems like it will ever be the same again and Everyone @ home is behaving, talking, acting sooo entirely indifferent towards Me and My 4 kids since YOU'VE been gone and we don't have a clue as to why, but WE keep praying, taking lil baby steps & trying to just slowly push forward w/ living and life Everyday that God allows Us to see a brand new, thankful and blessed day, week, month, Amen. Nothing is greater than the unexpected comeback! Without a major hit since 1984's "Treat Her Like a Lady" and undergoing numerous member changes, The Temptations seemed destined to be just a great "oldies" act singing their catalog of hits to their loyal fans. I woke up one morning and heard this on the radio. Boy was I shocked! Sampling your own legendary hit "My Girl" was genius by writer Narada Michael Walden. The Temptations showed their loyal and devoted fans that they were still relevant and they caught the ear of a new generation of fans. By incorporating their classic smooth harmonies with a contemporary groove, they crafted a uniquely standout record that should take it's place with the Temptations classic hits. The CD "Phoenix Rising" was quite good with a number of nice tracks including, "This is My Promise to You". I remember reading the liner notes where Otis talked about it being his first project without Melvin Franklin. Not sure if it was coincidental or planned, but releasing this in 1998 when The Temptations Miniseries ran on NBC certainly had to help the song and CD. To all of the great Temps from the past, this track should have made them smile and say "They Still Have It".
