Yeah it's beautiful. I'll never forget my first listen of this album. It really takes you on a journey. You never know what to expect but are always pleasantly surprised. Each stop is both kind of its own thing yet somehow cohesive. I'm glad to see the title track getting recognition. I guess I assumed on an album full of bangers it'd be a little overlooked with its sort of slower build-up, almost starting to delve into prog rock territory. The incorporation of The Gospel Choir was incredible. I can't say I've heard anyone blend these genres quite as effectively. It's just a one-of-a-kind experience in every sense.

    YES YES YES!!
I'm so glad Fantano gave this a classic review, been waiting for this ever since i found this channel.
No other media project has impacted me as much as Gorillaz -particularly because of this album-. Some of my favourite memories are related to this album, like learning to draw by imitating, and failing, to copy Jamie's art style, staying up late with a friend listening to this album, telling "Fire Coming Out of a Monkey's Head" in fron of my 7th grade class when we were told to narrate our favourite story.
Beyond the nostalgia, it's a genuinely ambitious, immersive and atmospheric record while still being multifaceted and, somehow still relevant to this day. Some of the songs still sound ahead of its time, too.

It was great hearing some more background knowledge to one of my favorite albums. I have listened to this since it came out, one of my first albums ever. This is one of those albums that gets better and better the more you listen to it and over the years. It really becomes yours in this process, where you connect it with the experiences of your life. People try to tell you, which song is the best song on this album, but you know full and well, that it is a complete masterpiece, and which of its songs really touch you. For me one of the greatest moments is, when oh green world turns from these at first dissonant and difficult chaotic sounds into pure beauty, as if you entered another space with the song, that envelopes you in harmony.

My favorite Gorillaz album. It boasts a huge nostalgia factor for me, Gorillaz's debut was one of the cultural moments that hit me the hardest.

To this day, my favorite album of all time. A masterpiece front-to-back, every song has something to say and the production is so unique and gives such a powerful sense of space. Every Planet We Reach is Dead still feels like a spiritual experience every time I listen to it.
Also worth noting, the extras that didn't make the album are all incredible too. D-sides contains some of Albarn's best material he's ever written in "Hong Kong" (just so so so beautiful), super fun tracks like "The Swagga" (woooo!), and immaculate vibes in "Highway" (my unconventional vote for one of the best Gorillaz songs ever).

i saw gorillaz live a couple years back and it was one of the coolest performances i will probably ever see. the whole thing was beautifully put together with albarn being the at the forefront of the show. at the end of the show he pulled out this weird key-tube thing and made the whole place explode with one note... which turned out to be clint eastwood. amazing work and seeing dare and feel good inc live was especially heartwarming considering how much those songs meant to me growing up. great choice for classic week this year anthony!

It's amazing to see that so many in the comments had similar experiences with this album introducing them to weird, alternative, eclectic music. I remember when I discovered this album and therefore Gorillaz three years ago. I was in a period when I was obsessed with Hip-Hop and, in particular, with MF DOOM. Back then I only listened to Hip-Hop and The Beatles. When I listened to November Has Come I started digging Gorillaz catalog and it was an eye-opening journey for me. This kind of paved the way for me discovering all kinds of music genres and at the same time I started watching your reviews on albums you regarded highly, despite me thinking the music wasn’t for me. special shout out to the last two tracks. For some reason I've heard different versions, but i love the one where Don't Get Lost fades directly into the strings of Demon Days.
to me that moment is the feeling of complete disillusionment, when the saccharine feelings from that 'heaven' quickly fade. with those strings, with the distorted static sounds and ghostly hints of vocal harmonies, it's a return to the world we were avoiding. it feels bleak for just a moment, but the elements of the track gradually make way for this sense of peace and clarity. and when that triumphant chorus comes in it's like seeing the sunrise for the first time in ages. it feels like having the courage to move forward through this reality. lift yourself up, it's a brand new day. turn yourself around to the sun.
every track on the album has so much meaning to me personally and the whole Gorillaz project fascinates me to this day. I will never, ever forget the impact this album had on me and it absolutely deserves the praise
