My haw has officially been yeed.
She didn’t say fuckin yee
Ya made me smile my friend. Job well done 😀
Love it!!
I love that for you. ❤
I love how subtle she is. She doesn't scream for your attention, she just has it.
Best comment ever lol
Brooke Elisa , would not say subtle, direct and plain, she ain’t hiding anything.
Shame the Coachella version was taking down.
That performance was breathtaking.
Believe upon Jesus , trust upon him and his propitiation for you, it’ll be alright
Facts!
agreed indeed !
The first time I heard this song was on SNL. I was completely entranced from the start.
Proof that the simplest songs and arrangements can be some of the most emotion and powerful performances. This is one of the best I’ve seen on SNL in a long time.
Actually 12 people on stage there that gradually fill the sound. It's well though-out.
You nailed it Brandon!
bro there's 11 people in the band lol not even including her. "simple"
@@rogerbourne4377 lol didnt see this comment completely agree 12 people is anything but simple this is intensive as fuck
🎶SNL is quite consistently high end grade A sound🎶 & she's definitely top notch talent✨💫
holy shit this sounds just like the recording. she’s an amazing vocalist.
Kirstyn Loftus yes she is!
i saw her live when she opened for harry styles and she sounded the exact same!!
Better even, amazing
mark of a true artist if u ask me
So amazing! 💙🎶
This song might turn into a classic. It has for me already.
it's far and away my favorite song of 2018
Nick Porcaro Mine, too. I cant’t believe that I’m listening to it several times per week since its release. It’s a masterpiece.
I love simple music like this - so simple that I couldn't come up with it in a million years
the whole album
That whole albums classic 😊
Kacey is a breath of fresh air in the music industry. she's so necessary
MsMassiel11 exactly
So true
Gemonvhs, if you want more real country
MsMassiel11 and so damn good
seriously.
I feel like if Kacey and Sufjan Stevens made an album together, some of the prettiest songs ever written would occur.
Oh my god, this...
That would be a gift from god
I feel like Kacey is the secret love child of Dolly Parton and Beck.
I get the thought - Kacey's Slow Burn and Sufjan's Chicago have similar chord structures, so sound similar..
I hope 'Golden Hour' wins album of the year.
your hope was granted
and she won!
And very well deserved
this comment aged well
From the nominees she definitely was the best, even though it was not album of the year in my opinion
There's something really magical about that melody change after the first chorus. And she is beautiful too, jusy like this song.
I've seen this mentioned on two different live performances of this song and I can't figure out what you guys are talking about. As far as I can tell, the key doesn't change. The melody doesn't change (it's the same as the first verse). There are a couple interesting fills. I don't know if I'm losing touch with music or going crazy or what. What are you referring to? Is there a modulation I'm not hearing? I'm listening on laptop speakers -- probably doesn't help.
@@AustinMarti Good question. Perhaps he means the vocalises (E-G-F#) that are backed up by an instrument (I'm actually not sure what that is - keyboard?) It's a little "otherworldly" sounding.
@@AustinMarti I think it's really just referring to the additional instrumentation that comes in during the second verse. I listened to Kacey's older stuff before this, which was more traditional country-style, but when I first listened to this album, and this track was the first thing on that album, hearing the additional instruments drop in like that let me knew I was in for something special. But there's no melody change, no key change, nothing inherently "different" about the song as a whole, it just opens up when the drums and additional guitars and keyboards come in. It's songwriting at its finest, IMO.
@@themessenger8334
I agree, I can't put my finger on it, but it makes my hair stand on end. Very emotional on many levels.
Yeah pretty sure the melody doesn't change, it's just that more instruments are playing.
This album deserves Grammy. Well done, Kacey!
That way have to be
Rizky Lutfiansyah it just got the Grammy!
She got it!!!
:’)
She just won a Grammy for this album ❤️❤️❤️
You know she’s captivating when you don’t even notice the entire band behind her the entire time until they really jump in.
I know..right!
11 musicians in support of an amazing talent.
They must be so proud and feel so privileged.
1 in a billion talent.
Also..major crush happening here.
who ever was watching SNL that night and didn't know her, bought the album the next day.
Wrong. This performance was slow and boring as hell. She’s like watching paint dry. It great if you like karaoke.......
Seriously
@@07jeepgirl still she got a Grammy while you're here hating 😂
You have to have the intelligence to listen to the words...jeepbimbo
True story. And I'm not a country music person at all.
Her backup band is groovy af.
Yes! This is a pretty amazing performance all the way around... Ethereal😇
they really are honestly they’re just amazing as she is
"Old soul, waiting my turn, I know a few things but I still got a lot to learn.." So simple, so beautiful. This song was my introduction to Kacey's music. Followed it to the Star Crossed Album - so many catchy, great tunes. What a wondrous talent Kacey is. One thing is clear: Kacey Musgraves is much more than just a country singer..
Hello Fan, How are you doing? Thanks for being a fan and liking, commenting my pages, I appreciate.
thissss
this song has a great bridge: 'whatever feels good....' and that's it. brilliant.
I'm so glad that she got grammys for Golden Hour. She's a breath of fresh air in this world of over produced music.
Some people say this is not country music. But her song makes me feel relax like I’m at home. So it’s country music for me at least:)
It doesn't matter if it's country or not; it's just such a great song!
It doesn't matter if it's country or not; it's just such a great song!
I'd call it country/folk music. She is excellent.
@@raddmann336 She sings about grandma and Texas. That makes it country right there now mmmhmm.
She sings Americana music! Americana can be considered country but all country is definitely not Americana.
Your time of slow burning is over...you'll be looked back on as an absolute ICON!
tylerandtodd I hope so. She's criminally underrated. 🙀
Omg it’s criminallllllll. We’ve been saying this since Same Trailer Different Park!
she convinced a hard core Pearl Jam and Led Zep fan like me,never heard of her before SNL and she was fanstastic
Josh Carter nasty homophobic piece of shit
Prophetic. Just won album of the year.
The only thing better than her look is her lyrical genius and smooth voice.
This performance blows me away every time. It feels like magic. Love Kacey.
I love this song because the ideas the lyrics convey are so poignant, relevant, and vivid; while the words are so few and simple. For example, the changing generations, a different time and age; “grandma cried when I pierced my nose” ; or the world growing smaller, the global economy “in Beijing there headed out to work”. Yet it gives me hope, “Taking my time, let the world turn, I’m gonna do it my way, it’ll be alright”. It’s a slow burn. Absolutely fantastic.
agreed...
She sounds Live exactly like she does on the record. Best sounding musician on SNL in a LONG time
This song sounds like it will turn into a classic
i've loved her since i first heard merry go round. i'm so proud of her!
Christi Sims me too. Great talent.
Just give her a grammy already
Susanna Kailing she has 2 Grammys for her 2014 album!!!
4 grammy’s this year! Including album of the year
She got them!!!
Discovered this song binge watching Yellowstone, and I've loved it ever since.
Her voice so inspiring.
She has that kind of tone that you just want to hear more, for sure. I don't know if you've heard of Nicollette Larson, but she has that smooth yearning in her voice too. Look up "Lotta Love", you'll hear that inviting sound from her, too. (70's hit vocalist)
Absolutely! Totally addictive, can brighten my darkest day
Yes it is. I LOVE her voice, she gives me chills. It’s really because she ie being very directly truthful, not a bunch of untrue, nonsense. Like the middle part. She is singing HIGH!!! And getting away with it. Because she tucked it in like an “ahhhhhh” love ir
Flawless in every way. Golden Hour is one of my favorite albums of all time ❤️
yup!
My favorite album
I so agree!
Truly a beautiful song and a marvellous performance
Who else is taking comfort in this in the midst of COVID19? Thank you Kacey 💕
My 3 year old daughter and I listen to this album in the mornings. This song always slows her down. She just sits and listens. Such a beautiful song...
Why does this song make me want to cry? It isn't sad, it's just so beautiful.
Me too
Best version. One of the best performances on SNL of all time. Epic
I get lost in this song. So beautiful
this girl is so crazy talented
Her music is astonishing. I didn’t believe music like this could exist anymore until I discovered her.
This was the first time I heard this song and I could not look away, I could not move, and I had to hold back the tears (girlfriend was next to me). It reminds me of a handful of live SNL performances that have captured me like that; great songs who's performance was captivating (and turned out to be just as good if not better than the album recording).
Same. I was gonna skip it because I didn't like the first one. But this one just left me mesmerized. It was such an amazing performance.
whose performance. Moron.
The same thing happened to me when I watched her on the CMAs last night! I was transfixed and got chills up my back. First time I heard this song.
I just mentioned this in another reply. This performance was my first listen. As soon as the song began, I was utterly entranced.
Oh My God. It's more perfect than her studio version!!!!
That's what I was saying! This is even better than on the track!
her energy is healing
And the Grammys goes to...KACEY!🏆🏆🏆🏆
A legend right here. One day, we will look back and remember hearing all of her songs before the world knew the treasure we already know about.
This reminds me SO much of early Sufjan Stevens work.
Banjo made me think the same thing. I had never heard of this woman until the other day--her vocals are stunning. I immediately put on Sufjan after listening to this song.
Same here!! I love his album too! So melancholy and calming!
Yeah the banjo and vocal cadence sound a lot like his song Jacksonville.
This track steals heavily from Sufjan's track "Casimir Pulaski Day" and Neil Young's "Old Man". It basically blends the dynamics of those two songs.
@@Hollowsmith I thought the same thing! sounds so much like early Sufjan
Great Neil Young vibe. Classic.
M. U. I Was thinking the same! Definitely reminds me of Neil Young.
Same chords as Old Man by Neil Young.
I thought the exact same thing. Old Man by Neil Young
Same chord progression and the way the drums dropped in...
Her outfits are amazing and she always sings well live.
I love her previous LPs. But Golden Hour is my number one.
Effortless. She speaks to me on so many levels. She’s brought me back to my country roots. Country music hasn’t seen something this fresh since Dolly.
I don’t like country music but I love this … and Dolly!
I never heard of this girl until I saw her on SNL. She does really well on this ballad, I just had to look it up to find out more about her. She also performed the High Horse song, but this style is much more flattering and it shows off her unique vocal ability. ♫
JaCole you should check the album out It's amazing. :) and High Horse sounds better recorded as it's her most poppy tune. Very disco inspired.
JaCole i got hooked on her when she performed a Christmas song at an award show that she wrote!!! Christmas makes me cry. Look it up if you havent heard it.
JaCole I love that she's bringing in so many new fans with these tv appearances.
Me too i just discovered her today! I was enjoying a lazy sunday afternoon and searched for relaxing songs on spotify. Her song was included on the playlist and that was how she caught my attention, she has such a mesmerizing voice . I’m not a country fan per se but i do enjoy quite a few country songs . I thought she was a new artist and i was surprised when i googled her today and found out she was on SNL last night lol. Wow! Ive listened to her whole album 3x already today! She should win the Grammy’s ( not just best country album but best Album of the year!) . Thank your being my new favorite singer 👍❤️ More power to her and her career.
Iheartalkris i love that you can hear her words and her songs tell you a story. Not to mention Her voice is relaxing to listen too!
The sound man was brilliant. The long delays, echoes, reverbs are very hard to do without getting feedback. I have to wonder if he only implemented them as they went out to broadcast and they were not present on the stage or for the PA. He accomplished live what was on the record. My hats off to you man. Beautiful production.
I don't even like country, but she's captivating and her voice is hypnotic. I would give her music a chance.
I heard this live at the last Harry show. Her vocals are absolutely stunning and angelic.
Lucky you; shes awesome. Was it your first time hearing her?
F E yeah I had an idea of who she was since she opened for a couple shows and she completely blew my mind! I walked in right when she was playing this song and it was like I died and went to heaven
keilaxo me too. I went to see his show for her.
My favorite song from the new album 🐎
Lee wonder woman says hey
For anyone who wants to play this on guitar, here's how :)
For about 99% of the song, it will be these chords in this order!
A, Cadd9, G, D(variation; 554030)
Strum Pattern - ↑↓↑↓↑↓↑
SUPER SHORT Bridge after Second Chorus -
Cadd9 and Em
Hope this helps out! If you get stuck or need a little extra help, I just uploaded a video lesson for this on my channel :)
awesome! Thanks:)
You, my man, are an angel.
As someone who's taking guitar lessons currently, this is extremely helpful.
her songs feel like a warm hug in Autumn
Truest example of a beautiful voice - she sounds in her live performances as beautiful as her cd's.
Old soul indeed. Lyrics and melodies that cut straight to all that is essential.
I heard her on SNL and fell in love with her music..
As a classically trained musician that also loves hip hop and no country, I am very enamored with this song & performance. I had to put on my $2500 headphones for this one. I can hear and appreciate no only Kacy's angelic voice and musical abilities, but EVERY SINGLE other band mate that is on that stage. They all play their parts very well in supporting Kacy. They are well balanced, they are in tune, the instruments that played out did it very controlled and consistent with the tone & expression that Kacy set throughout the song, and they had excellent transitions. I only had two issues with the performance, and none of them have to do with Kacy so I won't mention them (unless someone really wants to know). I have never considered listening to country music more than after listening to this song/performance. As a new explorer, if anybody knows of some top quality country songs such as this song, please comment and let me know. I appreciate it.
A-man the9 Good observations and I agree with everything you said. However, I am curious to hear what are the two issues you had with this performance?
She reminds me of how much fun watching paint dry is. Wake me when it’s over. Disappointed in this performance.
i’m not usually a fan of country music, but she’s so talented and her music is beautiful
Holy SMOKES!!! What a voice!
.....this song is an attitude adjustment to the music world in general....I read a bit of her bio and Neil Young is an inspiration for her.....I hear so much of him in this song but her hybrid of him and herself is gob smacking....it's a song I wish I wrote....what a marriage of one of your mentors and your own creative influx....I'll be following your musical input into this huge machine world for quite a spell....
dj Blair Definitely Neil Young vibes.
nailed it.
This has NY all over it.
This performance was better than the album cut!!! wow!!😎😍
This version is so gorgeous and ethereal. I keep coming back to hear this one!
best total package singer-songwriter to come along since Sheryl Crow...you're lucky to get one every 20 yrs.
Damn, she is good.
you know that awesome feeling when you discover a great new song and singer and have to hear more? that what seeing this did for me..!
She doesn't yell and strain like too many other singers, both country and pop. She is smooth and clear and lovely. She should be more famous than she is. Absolutely beautiful.
Wow, she has such a regal and inscrutable presence! ❤
Country song brought me to my dreams and broke me. . Yet I still will love country music till my last breath.
I know she's happy with another men.
I am from southAmerica and i still cant believe how can it be possible that the country music can't be popular in my space..countries like Chile, Argentina, Perú and Brasil should give to country singers more chances to introduce this marvellous music through the voices of talented singers like Kacey...the country music deserves to be heard for all the ears from all over the world..is my biggest desire..
im from chile and i get u and im so happy for his album of the year she deserve this so much!
In brasil country is the most popular genre, but it is brazilian country, not american.
Album of the year 💛
I'm rewatching it on TV right now God 00s and 90s vibe
She gives me chills
i need friends who listen to this kind of music
Any artist that can stand up there and play her own music and sing that well is a rare treasure. Love this.
She is timeless
FREAKING CHILLS.
Fantastic performance! Everybody on that stage also give out great aesthetic pleasure.
How could you not just love this
Kacey’s voice fits so well in this kind of song
absolutely stunning performance
this song just makes me want to close my eyes and spin in circles
was JUST listening to this while showering and got the notification and ran through and watched it immediately midway shower lol. impeccable as always!
Lostwig TMI 😂 ♥
Wow, so inspiring
omg youre my neighbor! That was you???
Amazing voice
Addicted to this album. 45 minutes therapy session
What a blessing to my ears. Simplicity at best.
She's sooo gorgeous & has such a good styleee😍👀 this was the best song on her album for sure, has been on repeat since i heard it!
One of the prettiest arrangements with the simplest chords.....Voice is like a harp cutting through the complicated world we live in.
She’s so different from other country singers. I’m in love with this girl. So blessed I got to see her live
She reminds me of early dolly parton and Bobby gentry. Beautiful words.
Born in a hurry, always late
Haven't been early since '88
Texas is hot, I can be cold
Grandma cried when I pierced my nose
Good in a glass, good on green
Good when you're putting your hands all over me
[Chorus]
I'm alright with a slow burn
Taking my time, let the world turn
I'm gonna do it my way, it'll be alright
If we burn it down and it takes all night
It's a slow burn, yeah
[Verse 2]
In Tennessee, the sun's goin' down
But in Beijing, they're heading out to work
You know the bar down the street don't close for an hour
We should take a walk and look at all the flowers
[Chorus]
'Cause I'm alright with a slow burn
Taking my time, let the world turn
I'm gonna do it my way, it'll be alright
If we burn it down and it takes all night
It's a slow burn
[Bridge]
Whatever feels good
[Outro]
Old soul, waiting my turn
I know a few things, but I still got a lot to learn
So I'm alright with a slow burn, slow burn, slow burn
I'm alright with a slow burn
I thought it was 'good on grass' -- like she's got plenty of weed for her slow burn. :)
I grew up on classic country of the 60's, 70's and 80's. About 20 years ago country went to crap with stupid songs about tractors, booty shakers, and lousy vocals. So glad to see a quality musician/vocalist breaking new ground like Kacey. Thank you for this!!!!
I am 46 and music does not just grab me often. I was in Nashville last year in the background of Haddie B’s was this song. I asked someone if they knew who this artist is. They told me and I have any of her albums on rotation. She has her own flair on Country Music. The writing is incredible, her voice is subtle but defined, bringing you in and wanting to hear more
2020 and we're still watching this brilliant performance!
Such a unique voice.
Heard this song for the first time last night on the CMA’s. I immediately chocked up and had tears running down my face by the time it was over. Now I’ve binged watched every variation of this beautiful song. Wow, just wow!!
The brief, "whatever feels good" moment is the greatest thing about this song
I love how she's a Texas girl, her voice & how she actually plays guitar.
This is subtly different from the studio and live Stephen Colbert versions. They all sound amazing with subtle changes that are magical. I'm addicted to this song like so many amazing songs during the 1960s, I'd play over and over again.
You kept telling me to look this up and liston to it.i hear it now.REST IN PEACE MOMA!!! Your son jesse.
When I hear her my heart slows and and just sit and listen.
This song just tears me apart. The whole album is gorgeous.
