I am wholly convinced that this song intentionally references the past three albums.
“I spent my whole life looking for answers” = The Great Glass Elephant
“I spent my whole death waiting for answers” = Degeneraterra
“I spent my rebirth chasing the devil” = To Speak, To Listen
Which I guess would make this album the protagonist’s “last chance” to… achieve enlightenment? Connect with the divine? Can’t wait to hear more
It might be a reference to those albums but Andrew said the first three albums were a trilogy that was concluded with to speak, to listen so this is not a concept album,
@@johnnykooks4096 It actually does continue the story. To Speak, To Listen ended on a cliffhanger.
As a fan who’s unhealthily obsessed with the concept, I generally agree. Andrew has said TSTL ends with the protagonist unifying humanity in his timeline, but he discovers that there are other timelines and one exists where he never found the Light. Because this version of himself exists, humanity cannot become one with the godhead, humanity cannot arrive at the ultimate Truth.
My rough shot theory is that this album is about the protagonist reaching out to this version of himself, or perhaps even reincarnating himself as The Architect spoken about in previous albums as a means to guide this version of himself to enlightenment, the same way that The Architect and The Alchemist guided him to enlightenment throughout his journey in Great Glass Elephant.
Another banger from Andrew Swells. Couldn't expect anything less from this band.

This is THE perfect combination of progressive rock and post hardcore! It's all of the high concept spirituality and layered musicianship of prog but with an earnestness and genuine pain that is Straight outta post hardcore. Eidola really is killing the game right now!!

Perennial Philosophy is the idea that all the religions of the world point to the same universal truth. I see the "spiritual" aspect.
I barely heard this today & I thought it was a Christian rock band. They’re new to me. I’ll have to check out more of their music.

The depth and dynamic to this song is unbelievable. This sound can make anyone a fan of Eidola.
I really like that the vocals follow the dynamics of the guitar, gonna get ambiguous here but the guitar has a blossom and then reel it back in type of pattern during the verses, and the vocal inflections follow it perfectly.
Such a spiritual moment I have every time I hear this song...
Sometimes I forget music like this is still being made.

This band is such a standout in the genre. The instrumentation, the lyrics, the overall talent. Eidola are a beast of their own.

Eidola is one of the only modern Post Hardcore bands I like that isn’t DGD, Sianvar, or Hail the Sun. They’re keeping that niche ambient post hardcore sound going and blending it with Andrew’s sweet Progressive mathy leads leads.

Just saw this band live today at the Afterburner tour and they have a great live presence. Seeing the singer live was intimidating though because Holy shit dude was huge lol

this song has made me appreciate Eidola even more. their counterfeit shrines took me a few listens to let it finally grow on me but this one, i loved it at the first listen. now i am more and more excited for the new album!!

I was literally in the middle of a binge of To Speak to Listen when I saw this come out. You guys are the best band I’ve heard in a long time. Keep it up. Can’t wait for the new album to come out
I just found this band and this song has already become one of my favorites.
The emotion charged in this resonates so deeply with me. There are bits here that are reminiscent of Humble Ledger as well, and that's such a huge plus. Incredible work, hooked as always.

I just listened to the Lead Singer Syndrome podcast with Andrew cause I knew he was involved with DGD and found out he’s a fellow Utahn so you know I had to check them out. Not disappointed!
