  • Not known for great marching bands, GA Tech is extremely underrated. They definitely are at the top of the ACC with FSU, VA Tech as premier marching bands.
UCF Marching Knights already are better than most of the Big XII bands. They are right there with K-State and Texas Tech at the top (not including OU-TX).
The trends of having the marching bands sit in the stands while the bowls play canned music is disturbing. Cutting pregame time, some bowls don't even have pregame, i.e. Boca Raton Bowl, or one will do pregame and one band will do halftime.
The commercial breaks are over 3 mins and they allow the bands to play maybe a minute of the commercial, sometimes not at all.
Then after the extra point, they commercial break doesn't even wait for the fight songs to finish.
The jumbotron has become a living nightmare for college marching bands.

I go to all the Georgia Tech home football games and basketball games, if anything I'd say the marching band is pretty good! Really enjoy seeing them in action and they just make the games 10x better than they were! As far as the Gasparilla Bowl it was an absolutely incredible game to watch!! So proud of how far Georgia Tech has come this year and I can't wait to see whats next for the future! GO JACKETS!!! 🐝🐝🐝

GT Band is so great because nobody is required to be there. Volunteer only, no music majors required to do their time. When I was there in the mid naughts, my parents encouraged me to join even as non-GT fans because the GT Band always looked like they were having more fun than anyone at every game.

I was talking to one of the members of the pit crew, she said it was up to the band member if they wanted to go. I have only known it to be a requirement for most bands. I asked her why the band was cut in half. Amazing, they were still great.

Music majors aren’t required to do Marching Band at UCF either. Every college at UCF is represented and the college of music isn’t even the largest percentage of us.

@@eriksolberg4737 most colleges except more than just music majors. At Purdue we don't even have a school of music. My surprise is that they aren't required to go to a bowl game, that surprises me.

@@FightSongGuy Im in Tech's band and we were surprised to see it wasn't required as well. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that we haven't been to a bowl since 2018 and we didn't really expect it this year. We also had a lot of out of state kids who booked flights/vacations without expecting a bowl, so admin was very lenient with that. Luckily we took plenty and were able to win! Thanks for the vid and the kind words and UCF sounded great as well!

@@Sammhm123Yeah for UCF we are required to submit any planned trips before the season starts to be excused from the bowl game. So if a family plans a trip after the season starts they just have to wait and see if it interferes with the game
