The competition bits from the UK rental VHS of Ghostbusters with the trailers cut out leaving the 'Coke Is It' ad before the film started. I think it's too late to enter now :-)
Anyone have footage of the other segments from the pre-film promotion/adverts? I remember this going on for a while longer with adverts for Birdy, White Nights and Perfect.
I remember this, the scary voice sounded like Thriller and as a kid, added to the experience. I still don't get it though, was there a right answer or were all answers put into the same "hat"? Did anyone even win? How did this competition help drive profits? ...I'd get it if it was a phone number with a ramped up charge rate, but it's a postal thing. Is the product display alone enough to generate extra sales (ie. ah well, we didn't win, let's buy a sony product anyway)?
Now, after 40 years you can carry all of these things in your pocket.
Oh Yes October 1985 when Ghostbusters finally came out on VHS rental in the UK. Wish I still had it as it's worth a fair amount these days.
This is what the fast forward button was invented for
