For some reason I find the contrast between Mr. and Mrs. Gogan and the two Gogan brothers hilarious. Mr. and Mrs Gogan acting like they love Pete and the two brothers are singing about all the bad things they plan to do to Pete.
i almost feel bad for agree based on what thier saying abouy what theyll do to poor pete but yeah its so catchy and this isnt on the petes dragon on disney + or any rescent dvds or downloads at all
Interesting Disney Trivia, with this being the first song in the film, this is the first Disney song to ever be recorded in Dolby Stereo. Note the improved sound quality.
@@traviss6564 Correct, Dolby was still very new when this film came out. They experimented it in the early 70's, though it only allowed a mono track at the time (used in Clockwork Orange), then by 1975, Dolby Stereo was finally tested on Lisztomania, then a 4 channel system on A Star is Born, and a 6 channel system on Logan's Run. It was until Star Wars came out is when the Dolby Stereo finally became the headline that most big budget event films started to use it, and during the rest of the decade, about a quarter of the films began to use it. Even more in the 80's, then it became the standard in by the mid 80s.
The Gogans are straight up one/some of the most sinister villains in Disney-dom. The lyrics to this song are evil! Lol. It's also a bop, the songs in this movie are all catchy and it's underrated.
My first impression when I saw him floating in midair was that he was riding a broomstick. Then I realised that whatever he was riding on was completely invisible.
My Nan (I called her nanny) also recorded movies for me on VHS...so we'd have things to watch when we came to visit on the summer. This and Willy Wonka were two of my favorites, watched them every summer. It became a tradition! Lol. 🤣 (I'm in Arizona/nanny was in Utah, a 13-hour drive).
Call them wicked call them mean , cruel and everything in between , you would think it's unjust turning little Petey's dreams to dust , but this is what the gogan family calls love , tough love.
will they mention the gogans , hoagy , Nora and Lampie and the mayor of Passamaquoddy , Maine if they make another sequel to Pete's Dragon , what if there are other Gogans besides ; Lena , Merle , Willie and Grover
Well to be fair he does that earlier on. At some small-time points throughout the film. Elliot also does that and at two big time points in the film. Like the teacher getting mad at Pete for no real legitimate reason. She was only getting mad at Pete because of what Elliot was doing. Elliot made her skirt get caught on that nail. Wouldn't stop pulling and rinng the Bell. Elliot also kept on pulling the teacher's chair out from underneath her. Even though these things happen to her the only person around was Pete. The teacher couldn't see anybody else doing this to her though it was Elliot the dragon doing this to her. But he kept his promise and stayed invisible but Pete got blamed for it. And to top it all off Elliot nearly destroyed the town. Nearly when Pete and invisible Elliot first came into town
@@JaredGriffiths2000 It's possible. There were some very random t.v edits of films back in the day. I don't ever remember it being removed from any vhs version though

@@rainbowflamonge2478 what are you talking about? The song was never cut. I mean at least in my area, it’s still there.
@@AnimationNation2004 Maybe she's talking about the Gogans being cut from the remake altogether even though they were the best part of the original.
This is such a smart song and its performed masterfully.

Wow, that's cool! I'm sure Dolby was a revelation when it came out.

I was so Terrified by these peeps when I was a child. 😂😮

#LOL
Agreed
LMAO same here, was a kid in the 90s hated when my mom put this on atleast the beginning of movie
The guy who plays Willie also plays Kenickie in Grease. And he says "Keep talking woah keep talking!” in Grease Lightning!
Oh wow, after 34 years I never connected the dots... DAYMN
Man, the "Happiest home in these hills" line always gives me chills. This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid
I love the scene before this where Pete floats in mid air. It's so cute.
My first impression when I saw him floating in midair was that he was riding a broomstick. Then I realised that whatever he was riding on was completely invisible.
I've always loved the songs in this film. Moving, catchy, so inspiring.
I showed my SO this as an example of what I watched as a child and she was Apalled.
@@beverlyscreativecorner80 what they were intending to do (and probably did some) to the kid. They wouldn't put that into a children's show now.
They are villains for a reason

I love this song. Also that one of the Gogans is Kenickie from Grease.

What somethin'?
If you knowed 'What somethin', I wouldn't call it somethin. I'd call it by its name. 😅
Yeeeeeeeah!!!!! 😂😂😂
Kenickie really fell on hard times after leaving the T-Birds.
Hope Rizzo's OK...
this was first lol so he had a glow up lol
Shelly Winters was Great as Ma !
Anyone else thought she said "pee in bed" instead of "tea in bed" as a child?
No, not really. I had subtitles on so I could practice my reading independently.
Now how in the hell did they succeed in making Shelley Winters look ugly???
It’s Roseanne’s Nana Mary!
its the ONLY home "in these hills", so they are not wrong lol :(
Why was this song edited out in some versions?
Any one know?
Shelly winters was beautiful lady real life Jeff Conaway was handsome in real life

they did a reboot back in 2016. they cut out the Gogans entirely
@@PrincessAshley972 They cut out most things in the 2016 remake. The only things they really kept were the names Pete and Elliott.
