  • My take on many similar mods to the ubiquitous portable bandsaw. This however has a no volt release as the button now has a lock and also the additional cover added over the upper blade and wheel assembly. Which w as added after feeling a little vulnerable with my fingers if the blade broke. This entirely encapsulates the blade is simple to make and add and can be left on if used when not off the stand. If viewers want detailed build info please comment and I will do this if enough interest. Thanks for watching.

    Simply elegant , elegantly simple. Love the blade guard (sp?). You could have a small business building them for others, or selling the plans. The 3 bolt mount appears to be the same as the WEN & the PROPOINT & some others sold on the west side of the "pond" . Watching from Canada.

    im glad to have the newer scheppach one as it has the guards already but I looked at your video to see what you did with making the table as I was looking for ideas on how i can make a table for mine. youve done some great modifications to this one!
    ive done a modification on my vice ive made it a screw vice instead it works a lot better that way.

      I have never used the vice as the saw is always in the configuration mounted to the bench, Thankyou for your comments much appreciated

    Very interesting, thank you. I took deliver of my saw yesterday and will get busy tomorrow making the mount. I would like to make the guard as well - it seems like a very sensible safety feature; unfortunately the welding that is required is beyond me (I am wood worker who has the occasional need to cut small pieces of metal). I will have to try and enclose the blade without such obviously high quality sheet metal working skills!
    Thank again
    Mitch

      Mitch Lees you won’t be disappointed. I’m not a welder, I am an engineer by trade, just picked it up over 40 years of working in industry. Who knows!
      try it you might be surprised.

    Great vid, love the guard brilliant I have the same saw and it has thrown the blade a few times

    Thanks for the video, love the mount. I’m tempted to buy this bandsaw. At £150, it seems rude not to 👍

      I think it’s not too bad a saw for the hobbyists. My mount works very well, in fact I have never used it on it’s supplied stand as the clamp is pants. I have an idea to resolve it but no time due to work constraints.

    The Harbor Freight saw costs 78 U.K. pounds, but I would be willing to pay the difference just to get the horizontal stand. The table is not very difficult to make, but the vertical stand is a lot more work.
    Very nice job on your modifications. Now you need a cover for the bottom wheel with a vacuum port to collect the metal shavings so the tire doesn't get ruined.

      @conkcat  Před 4 lety

      Are you trying to make more work for me , ha ha.
      My main concern was if it threw the blade , I mostly use it on the stand in fact it has never been on the other stand that came with it as the clamp is useless

      @@conkcat More work? Nah, just trying to keep you out of trouble mate. 😁
      If the stand wasn't so heavy I'd make you an offer, but posting it would cost a bloody fortune!

    It's a shame the woodstar bandsaw isn't available in the UK anymore, that was a bargain at £50 for essentially the same thing.

    Your mounting fixture is elegant in its utility and simplicity; and seems a better solution than the "tables" other folks are offering. Your fixture is rigid whereas these tables are not without bolting them down to a work surface (taking up valuable bench top real estate).
    This seems a rebranded copy of Harbor Freight's Bauer branded band saw ... but do I understand you correctly that Aldi's version included the base shown to make a convention pivoting drop cut saw as shown? And that the "blade shroud" you've incorporated into your design was a part of that kit?

    • @conkcat
      @conkcat  Před 4 lety

      Ohm51 thank you, the blade cover is my own design, but very easy to make, I just was not happy to use it without the cover when using as a stand alone band saw, it has worked well and does not hinder the operation in any way even when using as a hand held device. The supplied ALDI cut of stand is Ok, but the vice is useless, I will never use it I don’t think. It is a much more useful device in this vonfiguration

    I only see one problem with it. Its WAY TO SIMPLE!! Rube Goldbergh would never do it !1
