There are actually twin elevator shafts for each lift. When one is going up, the other is going down to pick up the next car. There's a switchtrack that forks off so you either go left or right depending on whether or not a car is already at the top. Brilliant design.

Yeah I saw that when i got stuck on it back in 2014 i went to go ride it some more again during that summer and right when the ride started the sound goes out and after the second scene everything cut off and i scene double huge optimus prime screens and but there was a bunch of wires and for a second all of us in the car thought oh no the screen busted something going on but then the wires started moving down and then saw the optimus scene moving down with it and then other one started moving down to thats when i discovered oh so there elevators but of course the sound didnt come back on and we road through that scene with no car moving or anything.

We didn't even know about this until years later hahaha. Such a subtle and yet brilliant design.

I noticed it when I rode it. I knew it was too small to fit all those big ass screens on 1 floor

I had always wondered why this ride felt so much more realistic then Juistice League at Six Flags Magic Mountain, I really thought they were similar ride designs, this explains alot!

Wow very cool! So during the course of the ride you only go up once and down once?

Yes, because the building isn't the size of Spiderman's so to fit it all in, the used 2 floors. The screen also moves up and down in unison with you so it's very subtle and hard to notice. After you find out and ride it again, it's easy to spot by looking up to the ceiling at the exact moment it starts to move.

Man those elevators get a lot of use every day!

Technically, the screen is stationary. It's as tall as the whole elevator shaft and the projector is what moves.
