So far I’ve purchased 3 different releases from Imprint and was planning on a 4th until Criterion had announced their 4K UHD release of Farewell My Concubine. As for the three releases I’ve purchased. All of which are films from critically acclaimed (mainland) Chinese director Zhang Yimou. With my two smaller releases of him being “The Road Home (1999)” and “Not One Less (1999)”. But my big prized possession being the “Collaborations: The Cinema of Zhang Yimou & Gong Li” limited edition boxset. An absolutely GORGEOUS release that now has a standard release floating out there. Which I fully believe is a spiritual successor and sister boxset to Criterion’s World of Wong Kar Wai boxset. If you love that WKW set, then you’ll love this Imprint set. With there being 8 films in the set, but the two stand crowning jewels being “Raise The Red Lantern” and “To Live”, which are on a similar level of quality to Chungking Express & In The Mood For Love. I could not recommend that boxset enough.
Seeing Silence in theaters was the most profound experience of my life. It completely changed my view of Christianity and led me on a journey to leave the church and eventually the faith entirely. I’d love to hear your thoughts once you watch the film.
Imprint's site says it's limited to 1,500 copies. I've seen it listed on Diabolik, Amazon, and eBay. No idea how many copies each retailer has left though.
I decided that Imprint is not for me!! It is too expensive and I don’t like the design of the box sets! I prefer much better Criterion, Radiance, Second Sight, Indicator!
Are Imprint DVD's from Australia supposed to be Region 4 and not playable on US players. Do you have a region-free player? It does look like a nice looking box set.
@@loua5708 At least you're not shipping from the USA to Australia. Most boutique USA companies don't ship outside the USA, and going through a secondary package forwarding company is insane costs. If they do ship to Australia the costs are also crazy.
@@FilmsByColor, that is one of the main reasons I've avoided non-region 1 or region A distributors for so long and ventured getting a region free.player, but it's bad enough I'm a Criterion completionist, I don't know if I can curb my enthusiasm for so many great distribution. The fear of these expensive discs not playing. I looked at their website after watching your video and I saw no mention about what region their discs were. You think they would mention somewhere that they were region free. Thank you for confirming that region free status. As I previous mention, I just participated in my first huge Arrow sale because of that fear. I did purchase Arrow Academy's THE WITCHES recent as a test, which eased my fear.
I’m old enough to remember the outrage from various “Christian” groups about “The Last Temptation…” It was kind of similar to the nonsense about the opening night ceremony at the Paris Olympics this year. A lot of people upset and completely misunderstanding the art.

Silence is a masterpiece. One of those films that are so affecting, you don’t want to watch it again for a long time, if ever.
That Kundun release looks really choice. The set definitely looks remarkable.

I tested the discs, and all three of them played fine on my Region A player. Thanks for the great question. I should’ve mentioned that in the video
Imprint blu rays are typically all region free it’s the shipping costs that are insane
