The picture looks fantastic on my 4k 120" screen, really natural looking, no DNR ect... a must have if you love this movie like I do, I was like 8 years old when I saw this in the theater, I had goosebumps just seeing the trailer on TV.
My first film at the cinema, in 1977. The next was some rubbish space thing.
In 1976 when it came out at the movie theater for Christmas time release, I was the luckiest 3 year old kid on the planet in my opinion as my parents took me to see opening evening showing at my local theater. I am so grateful that this experience would be forever etched in my memory as it was my first live action film to ever see at the theater!! I had been taken to Disney animated films when they would play at the cinema but this was a while other magic !! I still have the plastic Kong cup from the concession counter and this movie would begin my lifelong obsession with all things monsters and horror and the power of Kong! The greatest legacy of Kong in my life as each Kong film that ever came out after my folks and I always went together to make it an event and reunion to see every Kong movie at the theater including the current 2024 Godzilla x Kong The New Empire!!!

Got mine Yesterday. I remember seeing this in The theater I was 11. But I loved it. I didn’t have the Blu-ray of it so I was happy to finally get this on 4K over all I thought this was good picture and Audio I only watched about 40 minutes of it. Looking forward to watching it fir my Friday night movie 🦍🦍🍿🎥🎞️
I was 18 when I watched this in the cinema in the UK… I think it was a 70mm blow up print… and the cinema was packed during its several week run..
Love your movie review format I think it's great, one thing I would add is a quick comparison between the Dolby Vision and HDR10 encodes, some folks may not be equipped with Dolby Vision. It's just a suggestion I love your review format and I wouldn't change a thing except maybe add that. Thank you again sir!

Great review. Paramount gave us a solid transfer which is nice. The DTS was kind of lack luster in the surrounds, but it had a lot of height to me on the L/C/R channels.
I was glad I picked it up and it was a first watch for me.
Height? I thought this was a 5.1 mix without height channels. Do you mean height in some other sense?

If you can enjoy Godzilla or King Kongwith a human in a suit than this movie was the best one to do it in my opinion. The acting even from Kong still gets me. I still love the music too. I liked to watch it once in 4k.

Watched it last night and I was very pleased with the transfer
Did you notice blotches during daytime scenes in the sky? When I first got the disc I popped it in just to take a peek and shifted through chapters. Several chapters start during the day. I walked up to my 65 " just to see how things looked close up and boy was the sky acting strange. No reviews have commented on this. From my couch, I did not notice it all. I was just checking because I as well would like to upgrade to a larger screen soon.
I didn’t personally, but it may be a thing with the bitrate and more noticeable on larger screens.

I live in the UK and own the SC 4K disc , i found the Teal and Orange colour grading annoying at times, i pre ordered the paramount 4K hoping for a more neutral colour grade but now maybe im regretting it 😬. Dont recieve til 22nd April
Get the UK Studio Canal 4k version folks. Way better transfer.

You’re getting an 83 oled? I hate how the difference between 77 and 83 is 1,000 or more. 6 inches of difference doesn’t seem like it justifies 1000.

It's a shame that Paramount didn't bring over the extras that Shout Factory did for their blu ray. Plus, it's weird that they didn't include the 2.0 stereo mix that was also on the Shout Factory blu ray. Oh well, I'm more than happy with my Shout Factory blu ray so I'll just skip this one.

Wait-Paramount had/has a disc replacement program for Rosemary’s Baby? This is news to me-I wish these companies would be a bit more public and transparent about these things! Does the replacement disc include the previously missing line of dialogue , something like “We happen to be in labor here!” or whatever it is?
Yes.
Panasonic uses a BD-66 whereas Studio Canal used a BD-100. Wish I had known beforehand. Returning the Paramount steelbook.
Paramount didn't put the 3 hours extended version on the 4k disc like Studio Canal did, the 3 hours extended version is on a seperate bluray disc, so it might be the reason they use a BD 66

Lol! How can it be better when its from the same StudioCanal transfer? Actually I read that Studio Canal version added the 3 hour TV extended version on the same 4k disc so bit rate fluctuate, the US verson is on a seperate bluray disc freeing up space of the 4K disc space.
An absolute travesty that they did not include any bonus features.
I agree. I didn’t realize it until I was done with the film. I went to the blu ray thinking it would have extras..all it had was a trailer! Ugh

I find it strange that you give the release kudos for maintaining the film grain and seem pleased that HDR wasn't present and then take time to complain about the lack of detail during dark scenes that could have been improved by the use of HDR.
I never said hdr wasn’t present. I talked about DV at 2:12 and the pallet.
He said DNR, digital noise reduction, not HDR
Yes it was very good for it's time ⏲️ plus the sequel KING KONG LIVE'S , if you haven't seen it it's worth watching , and buying .
