Chill is buggin out, Sure shaq never led the league in rebounding but his dominance is still undeniable and he was a good passer out of the post. Sure he wasn’t the greatest on defense but he was no slouch either especially in 2000. 3x defense second team Offensive players were scared to come to the paint because he was there. Shaq was a very good defender who played strong post defense and defended the rim well but was less effective on the perimeter. When motivated, Shaq was a physical freak who excelled on defense. But his conditioning and effort varied throughout his career and that kept him from being an all-time great defender....

Hakeem and Kareem were way better than Shaq defensively. Imagine if the NBA Recorded Blocks and steals since it's inception. Wilt Bill Kareem Numbers and stats would look better.
In terms on-court impact, Shaq is a GOAT-Level offensive player. Hakeem offensively is like Carmelo Anthony with better scoring efficiency. Hakeem was heavy iso scorer with tunnel vision with a penchant for taking difficult shots while being a rudimentary sub-average passer and shot creator compared to all positions. Hakeem as a no.1 on offense is not going yield top flight results at the team level.

I totally agree!!! Watching clips compared to watching live is definitely a difference. You have to understand the game during that era. Shaqs DRPG has always been impressive but his ORPG has always been low because he's putting up 19 attempts at the rim his damn self

He had more offensive rebounds also. A 42 year old man made 53% of his shots, grabbed 13 rebounds and 8 offensive rebounds against the leagues leading rebounder! Kareem's team won that last match up as well. Again, I ask, what would a prime Kareem have been able to do against Hakeem? He made 53% of his shots and scored 21 points, at age 42, against the (1987 and 1988 1st team) all defensive center!!

When winning isn't the bottomline people can justify the importance of any stat. Any stat only matters if it leads to winning. If you are losing with an amazing stat line literally has no value. The point is to win. Otherwise , you are just doing a lot of something for the sake of participating.
