On paper, Shalltear is much stronger than Ainz. She is especially strong against undead magic casters like Ainz. Peroroncino was a serious power gamer and he optimized her purely for combat. Both are level 100, but Shalltear's class build directly hard counters people like Ainz.
Plus life stealing for optimal attacker
Plus Ainz is a sorcerer so he would run out of mana
Yeah Shalltear is literally designed to be a raid boss level enemy to protect the first 3 floors against other guild raids. It doesnât help the person who designed her loved optimizing and made her as busted as possible.
Plus, Ainz's whole character was mostly made for roleplay
well Shalltear is very strong, she even became a floor guard guarding three floors at once from 1 to 3 floors.
For those who don't know, Ainz has a passive that supresses his emotions because he is a skeleton.
Every time he feels something like anger, happines or embarassement he glows and goes back to neutral. It helps him because then, emmotions can't get in the way.

It isn't that Shalltear is the strongest because she'd be the best to send against opponents, but the fact that she can use holy magic which is basically type advantage to everyone that Ainz rules over. He's saying that he might be able to stop the holy magic cuz of his items but the others wouldn't, so it isn't that the others are weaker compared to Shalltear, it's just a type advantage. Also Shalltear wasn't beaten in a fight, she was just cocky and let her guard down and was hit with a "world level item" like the show said.
You shouldâve given people a spoiler warning. Also Shalltear is the strongest of the Floor Guardians; the strongest npcs are the the Area Guardians: Rubedo and Gargantua. Also Shalltear was beaten by Ainz, she followed his pace the entire fight. She almost recovered the hp to survive Fallen Down, but Ainz was saved by Auraâs breath skill which can apply buff/debuff effects to targets.

I'm pretty sure Pandora Actor Can beat Shaltear. With a good enough Gear he's too op to not be able to beat her. He spends his life in the treasury and knows all there is to know about the items in there. He has Big stats in intellect and Can copy anyone and their ability with 80% of their total strenght. He could just copy touch me or one of the 41 that is a counter to Shaltear.
@@MF-ui5uk In the overlord story, it's made clear that just because a doppelganger, like Pandora's Actor, can copy someone's abilities doesn't make them know how to use them. Sure his superior intelligence could make up for this, but there will always be a difference.
Slight misunderstanding regarding World Items, thereâs 200 World Items in Yggdrasi however out of the 200 there are 20 that are so powerful that they can only be used once. Ainz has 2 of the Twenty in the vault not all 20 so really any World Items you see him use are not part of the Twenty
And Nazarick was the only guild with 12 world items
@@radioraheem9820 The 12th world item was called atlas but it's stolen from them it's also a reason why they only had 41 members many players tried to join his guild mostly to gather information on their defenses or to steal from them.

So to clarify something about how busted world items can be. When ydrassil was a game Ainz's guild managed to get their hands on one that late them make any 1 direct request to the games devs. When the guild found a new mine with a unique and valuable ore in it they used that world item to ban every other player from that area so they could monopolise the SHIT out of that mine
Incorrect. Ainz oowl gown had found a mine with prismatic ore and mined a lot of it. They put a little on the market to hike up the prices but when they went into the room in the vault where they put all of the ore it had all been turned into a world item. It was a secret way to aquire a specific one the game devs had hidden. They were about to try to get another by doing the same thing again but another guild used a world item to steal the mine from AOG. Squishy Moe theorized that the other guild might know about the secret world item requirement and that's why the stole the mine (instead of for the mass amounts of money to be made), but dismissed that theory when they learned that the other guild had used one of the Twenty to ban all other guilds from that mine.

In the light novel, when Momon took out that eighth-tier crystal everyone was losing their minds and in that room was Magic-Caster who went as far as licking and basically groping that crystal, it made everyone uncomfortable.

Albedo is a tank, Shalltear is melee dps with holy magic (was mentioned for Shalltear this episode). Which is why Ainz said she couldnât win. They never tell you what Albedo is in the anime. Itâs in the LN only.

Pandora's actor is a doppelganger, and he can transform into 45 other forms, he has most or all the other Supreme beings forms and powers, but he can only use 80% of their powers. For people curious about his status, you can check his character sheet.

I would so love to seem PA fight for real. Sure he can only use 80% of the power of those forms, but being able to switch between them at will and access that vast array of abilities much make him an absolute monster.

You guys didnt pay attention to the fact that whoever casted the mind control on shalltear, was heavily injured, shalltear struck them before she mind controlled, so they retreated and why Shalltear stayed there, this isnt a spoiler this is just something you guys missed

Albedo would only lose because she is the "tank" among the guardians. She is the one with the best defense but her attack power isn't that high and since shaltear uses holy atribute it would be a one sided battle.

There is a Reason why Pandoraâs Actor guards the Treasury itâs because he is DoppelgĂ€nger. He can mimic everything and if he transform into someone he can use everything that Person can use the catch is he only has 80% of that Persons Power. He can also transform into Every Member of Ainz Ooal Gown which makes him very dangerous.

He may only he able to use 80% of the power but the thing is that he uses that 80% so efficiency that can outmatch the people he's copying who can use the full scope of their powers simply because of his prowess, cunning, Intelligence and tactical smarts.
For most players I'm sure he could use their characters better than the people who own them despite being handicapped and not being able to use the full scope of said characters abilities

The subs messed up in the first episode of season 1 saying Albedo was the strongest of the floor guardians, they meant to say the highest ranking NPC in Nazarick, not the strongest. Shalltear is the strongest floor guardian (Gargantua isn't sentient), tho' not the strongest entity in Nazarick.

Rubedo, Albedo's youngest sister. As of right now, she's considered the strongest entity in Nazarick. She would be able to overwhelm Ainz and even Touch Me. Touch Me was the rank 1 player in the world. She has not made an anime appearance, though I do think they talk about her at some point.

its understandable to be a bit confused at the end regarding the Guardians power levels so ill try and break it down as simple as i can.
On top of being min/maxed to be a fighter Shaltear can use holy element spells which gives her a combat advantage against evil and undead which is basically 99% of Ainz minions.
In regard to Albedo, she is the strongest DEFENSIVE fighter. Shes a tank basically. Cocytus is the strongest OFFENSIVE fighter and Sebas is an all rounder.

World items were the strongest items in the game, one of these items allowed players to even change the system of the game, or delete your enemy's character, and a lot of other crazy stuff.
Players found 200 of these and 20 of them were one time use with the most OP powers. Ainz's guild had 11 world items which is the highest number of world items owned by a guild, another guild with 3 world item was second. You can find information about several other world item in overlord wiki, and don't worry those are not spoilers, since anime skipped their explanation.

@@make-a-wish2224 it is important, but not talking about what's their power doesn't impact story that much, they gave enough basic info in this episode. And ainz's guild has 9 world items that can be used without limit and 2 which are one time use.

Funny thing is Ainz is wrong here. There's an NPC, one of Albedo's sisters; that is the strongest entity in Nazarrick's entire arsenal.
9:40 actually, Ainz definitely isn't the only one who can beat Shalltear since they also have Rubedo, an NPC that's stronger than even the 41 supreme beings, including Touch Me who has never lost in a PVP against Ainz.
Rubedo could likely fold Ainz but she is eternally loyal to him. However, she IS only loyal to him and will not take orders from any other entity in Nazarick.
That moment in the treasury between Albedo and Ainz is one of the best bits of dialogue in the first season.
No one would be able to defeat shaltear because most of them... including Ainz... Are at a disadvantage against her because of classes... She uses holy magic, most of them are undead, demons and the like... Kinda like sending a bunch of water pokemon against a strong pikachu... But Ainz aint just any random pikachu... he is freaking ash's pikachu with a level 100 plot armor... and a bunch of items...
Of course Ainz ain't a "random pikachu", because in your analogy, Shalltear is the Pikachu and Ainz is a Water Pokemon. But I see your point.

The wording of "I'm the only one who can beat Shaltear in a 1 v 1" should have been "I'm the only one thats active/awake that can beat Shaltear in a 1 v 1" since it's been stated a few times that Albedo's little sister Rubedo can single handedly body every single person in all of Nazarick, and it would take an entire squad of the 8th floor denizens with full gear to kill her if she ever went rogue.
I think the shaltear fight really shows how strategic and methodical Ains if when facing enemies, also you mentions it be cool if the anime had guilds and stuff facing each other across the world, a close thing to that is Log Horizon, might be worth checking out
It seems very likely, with the concept and Plans of nazarick,that they will also face Off poweful guilds
They don't explain it in the anime but the reason why Pandora's actor stays in the treasury because of his ability to transform into all the supreme beings and have their powers but not their weapons and armor so if he ever needs them he can transform it still use their weapons that's in the treasury
World Items are such a broken concept that it could only work in a game like Yggdrasil, but at the same time, because of that it makes me want to play such a game because the idea of these broken items that have the power to shape the game world with every use, but can also change hands really quickly.
7:34 its never explained in the anime but when the rest of the guild quit the game most of them deleted their characters so they gave their items to Ainz as a memento.
The main reason Ainz goes to fight Shalltear is explained next episode, but another big factor is that he doesn't want to see what are essentially his friends' children go and kill each other.
Honestly I love the new opening to the channel.
From what I remember there are hundreds of world level items but among those are 20 that are game breaking (and are a 1 time use, after using those they spawn somewhere in the world). The guild Ainz has 9 or 11 world level items. Also (don't think it's a spoiler) the red globe under Ainz ribcage is a world level item.

@@make-a-wish2224 It does follow the light novel. Some details just don't make it in the anime. One example (that might backfire on the anime) is the orb of death Kadjit had it's actually an intelligent item that Ainz gives to Hamusuke.

World items dont break after one use. There are 20 world items in ygdrassil that have supreme power. They allow the user to change something in the game (basically, they become a temporary administrator for 1 decision) and then the item disappears and needs to be found again. There are other world items that are not the 20 that have world changing powers and can be kept, but they only change the world in a specific way. Ainz Ooal Gown has 8 world items, 2 of which are of the 20. Ainz should be able to use one of his 2 to cure shalltear, but then it would disappear and could be found by anyone in this world. Instead, he is planning to kill her the hard way and will have the floor guardians use the other world items in case the enemy is trying to lure him out and attack him

5:53 in Yggdrasil there were 100 World Items, Ainz's guild had 11. If you rank guilds in Yggdrasil by the amount of WI they possess, then Ainz's guild is 1st, the second place guild had only 3 WI

Albedo is not necessarily weaker than Shalltear in general. She just has the better 1vs1 spec. In duel situations, Shalltear is the strongest guardian and even stronger than Ainz, because his build doesn't fit 1vs1 situations very well either (that's why he said that he may be killed in this fight).
Fun fact from 2 ln volumes ago, pamdoras actor is the saje race as nabe.
If you never knew, world level items are more of a big deal than you'd realise, in yggdrasil(the game before it shut down and ainz got transportef here) world level items were legitimately capable of rewriting game mechanics and such(of course this also depended on the type of world item) and as such in the new world they completely ignore all logic, common sense, natural laws and physics and can quite literally do anything without restriction (of course it also depends on the type of world item, each one has their own shtick) for example, Shalltear is completely resistant to mind control of every spell tier and such and yet that was abridged by a world item like as if she never even had mind control resistance, reason for that is cause it completely bypassed/ignored that resistance which is very impressive and there's around 200 of them and each one has their own specialty.
These aren't spoilers btw since the anime has and will skip all information regarding world items.

World Items are the most powerful and legendary items in YGGDRASIL. They possess massive power that could potentially threaten the game's balance, thus, earning them the term "Balance Breakers."
In all of YGGDRASIL, there were only 200 World items. Each of them had their own unique ability, and some were powerful enough to destroy the game's balance. Of course, not all of the World Items had such game-breaking abilities. Even so, if a player managed to get hold of a World item, that player's reputation in YGGDRASIL would jump to the highest level. Effects of a World Item can be resisted in only two ways: (1) Owning another World Item. (2) Getting special Job Classes.
Twenty
Twenty is the name of 20 World Items that are unrivaled in terms of power. All of them could only be used once. If one needs to be used again, one should find the item all over again, regardless of the difficulty of the process. The guild of Ainz Ooal Gown currently possesses two such items.
In the New World, it was revealed that many World Items had been scattered about all over the continent. Apart from players, some World Items are owned by its native inhabitants respectively while the rest have no owner to lay claim to. Hence, these ownerless World Items are known to be discovered in various places such as ruins, fallen civilizations, and so on.
Also Guild of Ainz Ooal Gown is in possession of 11 World items the number 1 guild only had 3.
Oh for clarification, Shalltear is not 2nd strongest. She was designed specifically with 1v1 in mind and as such her offense is insane. The highest amongst the guardians in terms of 1v1s to where she could give even the Supreme Beings a run for their money, 1v1 atleast.
Albedo was designed with defense in mind, her defense is the highest which is why she's in charge of the tombs defense and thus the guardians themselves. In a 1v1 in the game the one with the higher offense capabilities has the advantage. Especially one with a wide variety like Shalltear

shaltear is guarding floor 1-3 so she is the strongest battle type character, especially in one v one

Shaltier isn't the strongest in nazarick that title goes to Rebedo Albedo 's sister followed thaen by Shaltier and the reason why he said Albedo is his strongest solger is in terms of deffensife stats she is basiclly a walking tank and the one that specialise in blocking the enemy 's attack that is the main reason why he took her with him in his first contact with the outside worls when he went to save that village in the couple first episodes.
Rebedo and Pandora's Actor are the strongest guardians in Nazarick.

Only the strongest World Items are 1 use, and even then they just go to a random spot in the world after use.
There's a reason Shalltear is guardian of three floors instead of one. She is basically a raid boss. Anime doesn't really mention it, but she managed to get in a mortal wound on the people who used the mind control world item on her before she died, which is why that squad ran off without giving her any commands.
Shalltear would win against Albedo because of plenty of reasons, but the most important one is that her build is specialized for 1v1 combat and Albedo has a general tank build that revolves around her armor. Also, is not that Shalltear is overall the strongest of Ains forces, she's just ridiculously strong in her specific field, and that Peroroncino (her creator) spent a lot of the guild resources behind everyone's back to customize her and give her special items and whatnot
Shalltear is the 1st guardian of Nazarick. Her model is suit for combat and have a lot of experience in battle.
Albedo is just a leader, so basically she is no match against Shalltear, even sharing the same level
A different character in Nazarick is the strongest and by a pretty substantial margin if I'm not mistaken, this includes Ains.

In the first episode, it said Albedo was the leader of the floor guardians but not necessarily the strongest. Like how captain America leads the avengers but probably couldnât beat Thor or the hulk.

Honestly the Pandora's actor German scene was absolutely hilarious in the English version.

Shalltear is a floorboss with multiple stages specialized for 1v1 combat with powerful holy magics, Ainz is rocking a roleplay build with an absurd magic pool, Albedo has defenses so high she'd probably out last anything not from Nazarik in a fight, Sebas is a balanced monk/fighter at max level, Demiurge is a minion master specializing in control, Aura & Mare are minion masters specializing in debuffs and terrain manipulation, and Cocytus is a glass cannon with a bit of crowd control.

I think everyone else in comments already explained the discrepancy with the translation and misunderstanding of World Items as well as Shaltear and Albedo's strength.
This series rarely uses broad and definitive terms like "strongest". At least not when speaking about specific engagements/battles. Ainz is strong but he can't do anything and could definitely be beat by people weaker than himself.
And considering his class, he could be beaten due incompatibility or weaknesses. Anyway, Ainz is at his best when he can prepare and knows his opponents skill.
He would've definitely lost to Shaltear if he didn't have prep AND know literally everything about her. AND he also had to deceive her too.
fun fact, Okabe from Steins;Gate shares a Japanese voice actor with Pandora's Actor.
ainz isn't the only one who can beat Shaltear, but the anime is saving those characters for later ;)

I think that it's more, shaltear would take out anyone else while also dying. None of the guardians would be able to fully win against each other, all of them would end in a stalemate and ains would most likely lose them both.
Yeah, Shaltear is the strongest guardian. Well, 2nd strongest, but the strongest is Rubedo who is Albedo's sister who doesn't appear in the show and gets little more than mentions in the novels. But Rubedo supposedly could beat Ainz.

shaltear is a 1 on 1 type of a character, albedo said it ... albedo is a TANK character, 1 on 1 with shaltear is a bad idea too for her ... ainz needed some special items to beat an NPC like shaltear !! those who played mmorpg knew what i meant ...
The this is, Shalltear is one of the strongest NPCs, especially against Ainz and many of the monsters because of her Holy Attribute, Its like she was designed by her creator to be the perfect counter to Ainz. Albedo isn't the strongest of the Guardians or NPCs, she's the Highest RANKING NPC, all the Guardians are like Generals, and she is the overseer of the Guardians, so the top General, but that doesn't mean she was given the Top stats necessarily.
Same thing to think about with the Elf Twins, the passive boy, is a caster, and the confidant girl is a physical type fighter, and the caster (Mare) actually has, overall, higher stats than his sister, but it doesn't reflect in his personality.
