I always figured the micronations' ages were either A) based around whether they have actual land or not (the older ones all have physical land, Sealand is a metal fort, Ladonia is web-based, Kugelmugel is a metal ball, and while Wy also has physical land she's only been around only ~12 years, even less when she was designed) or B) completely effin' arbitrary like most things Hima does

I believe that when a nation is born they usually start out as a city, county, state etc. They then age normally until a certain age under 19. Then, when that area becomes Independent, they begin to age again until they reach they're human age (20, 24, 32 etc.). They will then stay that age forever. Sometimes however a nation will remain his/her child age (like Moldova or HRE)

People often say the birthdays of nations (at least monarchies) is the same as the birthday of their monarchs.... But that would mean that their birthdays would basically change dates every generation lmao, so how does that work? I'd say their independence day, but before their independence nations were already there.

The whole age thing is irrelevant to me. In the archives, it says Germany is 20 and America is 19, despite America being much older (America became a country in 1776 and existed before that, and Germany became a country in 1871). Besides, I love ancient history and have my own headcanons about how old they are. I headcanon most of the European characters have been around since the Ironage. I adore the idea of the France we all know and love also being the barbaric and bloodthirsty Gaul. It's just funny and shit gets more interesting. Relationships and cultures get deeper as well.

1. There’s a limit to age. - This probably due to the fact that Himaruya WOULDN’T draw his personified characters in old age or stuff, maybe?! However, he has practiced drawing some middle-aged to old-aged characters in random sketches recently. And used these characters in some of his strips. So I can’t tell if there will be an old-aged personified character appear in the future or not?!

About Seborga I think he used to be a proper nation. A duchy iirc. When Italy unified there was a treaty about it (or was it their constutition I forgot) which counted the countries who united to form the Kingdom of Italy. Seborga was forgotten in this list while legally and technically never stopping existing so Italy theoratically did not own Seborga. This was discovered by the man who declared the (micro)nation of Seborga.

Though I agree with the rest part of this video, I don’t think Seborga is “just a tall kid”! Judged by his appearance, I think he must be at least gone through puberty already! I think that nations CAN de -age. This could explain a lot of things such as why Latvia is so short. These sort of age 'resets' do not get rid of prior knowledge, but can mess up memories.
These resets would possible occur if a region lost its country status.
Take places like Newfoundland, Canada.
If A Newfoundland personification was Vinland, then they'd remain a child, and stay that way until being discovered then taken in by England. Their age may go back, as they went through a 'reset'. Then, when This personification becomes its own country, they become an adult.
THEN, in 1949, after joining confederation, Newfoundland would change back into a younger physical state. They'd still have the knowledge gained through their long life, but their memories as Vinland would have become very vague.
Also, with Economy, if a country's economic status effects their age, then MANY COUNTRIES WOULD BE MUCH OLDER.

My personal theory is that age has a small effect on the countries physical age, but so does the success/size/economy of a nation. Like Rome is one of the physically oldest nation and his empire was huge. But there are exceptions like how England is only 23. And the being born like humans thing, wasn't there this one strip of Iceland being born that showed that they know what they are when they are born, and that he could feel Norway as his brother? And he looked maybe 2-3 then idk my theory has so many holes.
I have a story idea on how America got his glasses and I'd thought I'd share it. So most of us know that americas glasses represent texas( my home) and that magic in hetalia is reserved for the magic trio. So my idea is that when Anglo Americans started moving to Texas after the Mexican revolution Americas boss sent him to check out Texas and when he was their he met Texas. (She ( she's a girl in my head) has spains eyes but Americas hair color cause she's both of their little sisters. She also wears her hair in braids with a cowboy hat she also wears glasses) so when they meet they get along really well And when she has her war for independence america sends help but when he shows up after the Alamo, Texas is bruised , bloody and PISSED So when the battle of San Jacinto roles around Texas wins the battle quickly and gains her independence. But soon after she shows up to Americas house looking skinny and sad. She asks for her country to join the United States. America is confused but soon realizes that Texas is having money problems after the revolution and the only way to stay alive is to join America. So he agrees and at the famous ceremony when the Texas flag is lowered and the American flag is raised on the captains flag pole, America looks down at her and sees she's crying then she smiles and thanks America for helping her people. She gives him her glasses and tells him to use them to look far into the future of his country. Then she walks away. Still crying. Sorry if this is kinda hard to read. I'm writing this on my phone so grammar and punctuation may be messy

I think it would be possible that maybe Himaruya has applied DIFFERENT rules onto DIFFERENT characters! That can explain why there’s so much inconsistence and why some of these theories wouldn’t be apply to some characters. And I’ve got feeling that Himaruya has changed some of his design about previous characters.
Reading about the ASEAN arc, this may explain why Philippines looked as young as Singapore despite being one of the oldest members, while Thai seemed the most mature of all of them.

I always assumed the aging had to do with the general fatigue of a certain regime. For example, I imagine Russia during the late imperial empire looking to be considerably older than as the ussr.
