  • If you have just had extractions and gotten dentures, you may wonder how to adhere them, or even have been told not to use adhesives. If you are very careful, adhesives can help greatly by preventing or eradicating sore spots caused by moving dentures.

    I went to wally world the other day and just loaded up on a dozen diff pastes, powders, mouthwashes, a couple of brushes of different softness. About the only thing I didn't get yet was the liners. I'll jump into them someday if the need arises. You got good info, girl. Keep up the good work.

    Well since u brought it up....extraction sites?! WATCHOUT!! I've got 2 still somewhat open...I've had DenSureFit in since just a few days in & I never wanna b without it. When they inevitably loosened up...I started using SECURE on top of that(carefully) & together they've been a dream!
    A cpl days ago I got lazy & just put the secure on haphazardly & the secure made its way up into the opening & it began to ache & I've been pain free since the DenSureFit..so I couldn't get the denture out that night..woke up hurting & spent an hour swishing with HOT water over & over& over til it softened up & after some gentle prying...I was able to very delicately get it out...well the blood clot came right out with it! I looked up in the mirror & blood all over my mouth! And that's the LAST thing I expected to see! And unexpected blood is shocking!! I had to sit on the floor before I passed out!! I don't scare easy & blood doesn't bother me..but I was totally unprepared for that! It bled for a minute r two & then it was fine..but it was anything but fine for a minute there. It didn't FEEL too good either but..lesson learned. Pay attention when u use SECURE!! It's great stuff but it's serious stuff! It's all business no play!!

      You should NEVER use adhesive when you have open extraction sites. That is a TERRIBLE idea. Let your gums heal and put up with the loose dentures, it's the only way and will only take a couple extra weeks. YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH DENTURES. You CANNOT rush ANY part of the healing process. In the end, it will all work out and you will be able to use any adhesive you want in time. Having loose dentures WILL NOT KILL YOU OR IRREPARABLY HARM YOU IN ANY WAY, it'll just be awkward and uncomfortable, but you just gotta DEAL WITH IT.

    I've tried every product out there known to man... 10 months later I may have found one concoction I love... I spread poligrip extra strength in a thin layer all over the denture and on the sides. then.... I sprinkle Fixodent powder in it and spritz with water I place it in and BAM!!! matter of fact its difficult to get them out the next day so the hold is over 24 hours..and I can eat anything. I like secure but have found my method works much better...

    Caroline, your wonderful. I haven't laughed like this for a long time. I love the way you get to the point, no games and tell it like it is. Question: I've been using the flex food , got three tubes free from my dentist and a tube of polygrip. I'm still not sure which one is better, since they both don't stick all that long. I've tried thin to semi thin applications and neither seem to hold. Yes, my dentures are clean and dry and yes my mouth is too. Help! I can't enjoy having them. I've waited over 6 months for these, going thru hell waiting. My gums have sunk and shrunk since my extraction, taking what was left of my teeth.. So what am I doing wrong? You mentioned Secure, I haven't seen that here in NYC, can it be purchased on line and how expensive is it?

    Hello and thanks for your videos. I had 12 extractions and immediate dentures on 9/7/16. However my situation is that being a customer service representative I have to speak on the phone to people all day. I have not put my dentures in for the one week that I have had them because I can't be messing around with them during the workday being very busy and then people not understanding what I am saying. So, I have been working with them out and trying to speak as clearly as I can-not an easy task. So, my questions/concerns are if I could wear them at night and then not have to worry about them during the day ? I have not even tried to use them "glued" in yet, concern about gagging, although I am going to try it now. Also, am I causing any damage from not really having worn them for one week ? I did try to wear them after the extractions a little but had a bone fragment removed and my gums are very sore still. Please respond with any advice you might have. Many thanks.

    Myndentures are so big on top that my gums dont touch the tray where my gums are supposed to lay.. It's just my palette that pretty much holds my top denture in. I hate it!! And where I got them arnt wanting to do a soft reline, even though they can. They're wanting to wait 2 more months and do a hard reline. I cannot handle this for 2 more months and they dont really care.. I'm sorry, kind of went off on a rant there. Lol. But I'm using powder for now

    Frustrated with adhesive!! Currently using Fixodent gum care and it hoops like mad when I take it off! I'm only at day 12 with perms and I'm having issues eating and talking cause I'm slurring some sounds. The adhesive holds well on sides but I'm wondering do I need some on palate? I just wanna be able to eat without pain, especially the top gums. So irritated!

    • @DeadlyDanDaMan
      @DeadlyDanDaMan Před 5 lety

      You shouldn't be having these issues if you are already on your perms. If you are on perms, that means you've had immediates for AT LEAST 6 months now. You should know what you are doing by now and your gums should be fully healed. You shouldn't have ANY pain when you take out your dentures, with or without adhesive.

  • @daveyburgess
    @daveyburgess Před 10 lety +1

    Hey C! Great video as always! (my name here will give you a clue as to who I am on DANS!) Just wanted to add the following -
    My extraction day was back in January, and I didn't know about all this stuff back then. I came away with a mouth full of stitches and immediate dentures over them, all well and good. Not much swelling, and the shrinkage was amazing, so by the day 3 you mention, the teefers were flapping around like a flag in the breeze!
    I had to go back to work on day 5, and had to be able to talk, so I poured on the adhesive (creme type). HUGE mistake! Took me over an hour and a half to get it all out without tearing stitches! HOT water will loosen that stuff up fast, but the cleanup takes a LOT of time!
    Pay attention folks, the lady is telling it how it is!

    Denture adhesive is not the best or healthiest way to keep dentures in place. There is a program for no cost dental implants in San Diego. Nobel Biocare, the best dental implant company in the world is partnering with the California Implant Institute to offer patients dental implants and bone grafting at no cost. The over 600 patients who have been helped since November of 2012 know this program is the real deal. In 2016 there will be 7 opportunities to receive this life changing treatment. Let me know if I can help.

      Yep. We want all the money you have now, and, because we'll have to replace them fairly soon, we want your future money, also, please. Been there. I had 5 permanent bridges, many crowns, a partial, and a ton of fillings. All high-end infrastructure that, when I got on Social Security, I could no longer afford to keep up. A bridge extraction ran $700.

    I nearly forgot: Why do you like recording from your car? In this video, you are running the car and air-conditioner creating a lot of fumes that will add to your atmosphere, creating more heat, believe it or not, it does. Are you on your lunch break or are you just comfortable and like your car a lot?
