- Topeka Police recruits learned emergency driving skills Wednesday afternoon at Heartland Park. Recruits put there skills to the test with a timed obstacle course as well as lane changing and reversing exercises.
28 years in law enforcement and will tell you up front you have to know your vehicle and its capabilities or you will mess up every time.
No J turn.. U cops are bitches when it comes to driving.. That's why I always out run you....
Something us street races have in common , respect
For those of us who learned how to drive in the late 80's and early 90's, no traction control, no ABS, none of that crap. A lot of us learned on V8 powered cars, pick ups and where I live all on back country roads, most of us learned how to drive like this just as normal driving. People who rode with me in my 20's wonder how I could drive quick but drive like a stunt driver, it's because my Uncle who taught me in the 1960's drove the same way with his father's 66 Plymouth Fury III with a 383 V8 in it on back roads and there were few cops to worry about getting a ticket. We learned how slide cars around corners, high speed turns, braking, all of it just by getting out there and doing it.
Driving isn't about speed you must be a shit driver
thats exactly how i learned driving up in the mountains all year round i loved winter the best i loved drifting on the ice and snow
i then took 4 years of driving school then i joined the SCCA i did 3 years of some serious slolum racing we even had a sheriff give it a go
he spun clear around 3 times at the end he asked if we ran could he catch any of us we all said you need a much better handling car
so no.
.god that was fun
edit: i learned how to parallel park with a dump truck and 2 orange cones
Watching the instructor's small inputs into the steering wheel reminds me of when I was starting work at SWA as a ramper. I had a rough time always trying to get the pushback tractor aligned properly. An experience ramper saw my trouble and told me, "Oh, use small inputs into the wheel, just like when you drive your own car." By Odin, if he wasn't right. Got to where I could put that tractor everywhere I needed to be on the first try.
I loved the driving range. Getting paid to beat the heck out of someone else’s vehicle and you have done a great job when you have pushed it to 80-90%. I loved to re-cert EVOC.
Bro did his thang
Will be sold as a one owner low miles
Facts!!! 😭
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
or only driven to church
2:04 this is exactly how i back up even with camera, i have my head all the way to the ceiling and looking back just like that, i thought i was weird
nope not weird i do it too
Looks like fun!
We were taught shuffle Steering
9 and 3. Never to palm the wheel or crossover
maybe if youre a granpa
@@SanjayKumar-kc8wj not really, it's the most precise way of turning, even rally drivers use shuffle steering, and a combination of hand over hand. czcams.com/video/1COvnSjLLw4/video.htmlsi=a1fd47d4k5UDT-Lm&t=77
I did all that in my challenger today
Gran turismo set me up nice for driving training
u should do a program where there is a police chase vs a suspect includes ,drifting, driving backwards,&practice wide turns&short turns how to interfere with both lanes without crashing😉😉
Ikr it’s not rlly necessary
Well to retort on not "not being necessary" technically if the police department are getting defunded they're not gonna be able to afford to maintain, repair,or replace equipment after they crash a car during aggressive maneuvers.
Of course considering that 98% of municipal departments are funded by the US government that will be determined whether they can afford to do anything after this chaos of misrepresentation of authority as settled.
Secondly if they're gonna practice for real world police pursuits they shouldn't be crossing over to the left side of the asphalt ever because if it's a 2 or 4 lane road unless there's a medium there's no reason for you to get into oncoming traffic during a pursuit unless it's absolutely unavoidable.
And with all wheel drive and front wheel drive police cars the U-Turn/Reverse 180°/Rockford is a thing of the past.
You were BAWLFing. lol
The problem with cornering on the race track is the unknown slippery road hazards don't exist. Also the bumps that throw the vehicle's balance off doesn't exist either. The road camber and other things. People need to understand it's not going to be how it is on the track outside. Smart superbike racers don't race on the streets like they do on the track. There will be those that think they possess the skills on the track to succeed the same way on the street and wreck. This has to be taught.
Anthony Abelardo I’m sure it is taught.. and known
The point of EVOC is to show you can control and operate the vehcile at such a level of precision and skill. The point is to become a better driver.
You only push it to 80% and leave the rest for the surprises which pop up.
Also training on a skid pad is a great training aid (and fun) learning how to use ABS as a effective tool when driving is good tool.
looks very difficult.
Considering that I can't drive yet, I absolutely agree
hmmmm posted on my birthday
Missing tints call it sleight of eye. I walk the thin blue line till my burial
Well I guess we will never see a
J-turn/ Rockford /reverse 180° maneuver ever again now that the Crown Vics are gone.....
I've done one in both a newer Interceptor Patrol Sedan(Tore-ass) and the Interceptor Patrol Utility(EXPLODER) and it's still 'doable', but I don't think they're gonna try it anymore in EVOC training.... (As a matter of fact pretty soon they're not going to be doing pit maneuvers anymore unless they've got some leftover Crown Vic's or Tahoe's in the mix.)
I doubt FORD will allow the new cars to do it without voiding the warranty.🚓💨🚔💨🚓💨🚔💨🚓
P.S.
Notice the the "F word" scraped into the cage partition plexiglass?
I can guarantee ya this unit has over a 100000 miles on the ticker.
cop cars around here look like sharks patrolling the waters
Took the cop more than 2:15 🤔
Most departments today outside of the South don't even let you pursue criminals anymore in a vehicle...They also have a policy to drive and stop before going through intersections....The days of great car chases are over in most of the country...
tell asp that@@GK-ji3pm
Police pursuits are not the kind of thing you " Train" for!....You have to be extremely cautious. Especially in this era....Even if you work in a a city in a state that allows you to pursue offenders at all cost, when you make a mistake, and someone gets hurt or worse killed even by the guy you are pursuing or God forbid in your cruiser, you can be sued. So can your whole chain of command as well as your stations "Training" officer with your department....Oh, and if you think your Department has your back and will defend you, think again!...You can also be prosecuted in state or Federal court...Your lawsuit willl more than likely be handled in Federal court as well..Tv makes it look like its only the 'Perp" who gets blamed when an accident happens....That isnt realistic... Recently several officers have been arrested and charged with felonies in a few states where they were pursuing a criminal in a car and someone got maimed or killed in an accident. I dont like it but its reality....Whats more, your police Chief, sheriff, or your watch commander and supervisor will get a lawyer and file a motion to be removed from the lawsuit that you got yourself into by doing what you felt was right at the time....Your city lawyers will meet with you before the deposition takes place and tell you how "Fucked" you are...Think before you chase that guy and think while you are chasing him... your main responsibility is for the safety of all motorist on the road at the time and your family and your well being, not necessarily your ego or your supervisor or even to how the chief or Sheriff see you..Even if you are chasing a mass murderer and he hits a car that kills a family, the news and political assholes are going to blame you! The family members of the family that was killled will blame you as they put a wrongful death suit on you and your department.. Anyone who tells you different, ignore them...
This guy never show the drive he learn?
Avoid cones is not a test?
what are the skill points for great 1 handed steering control?🤣
imo idiot
No right mirror, not in Cali
Haha, thats awesome. I got shotgun!
LMAO. He's not even an officer yet and already has a double chin forming.
