Great video. I went to make a sea captain/fisherman and ended up with a policeman. He told he was really a cop, so I said that was good enough for me. I dig the beard man. This week I made a s’more for the fall. He turned out pretty good
Doug Linger I have to say thank you for all your videos. I have learned to carve because of your videos. I love watching you carve little characters to larger bark faces. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Love all your videos, but the 1x1 is definitely my favourite, that series got me into all this . Hours of fun. Thank you 😊 🙏
Ah, I absolutely love these 1 x 1's, and so do my two grandkids. Their bedrooms shelves have them all lined up. I have to do two of each the same for them, so there's no arguments on who gets what 😁 Then my wife will usually want me to do one for her desk in school, as a talking point for the kids. Then of course there's the neighbours kids😂 I find them easier to hold and whittle, plus that size of wood is easier for me to get. My grandkids saw me watching one of your videos and asked if I could do them one. So I thought why not, and that's what got me hooked. I found your videos were put over perfectly for me and I could confidently follow them. I still need to follow a tutorial as I'm not artistic or skillful enough to do it from scratch. If you ever need to carve a 1 x 1 golfer I'd love to do one for my brother (hint, hint 😉😁) or if anyone knows where I can find one, any size. So thanks from us all for taking the time and sharing the nuggets 👍
love the 1 x 1 series
Hi Doug I am really enjoying your 1” x 1” carving series! I just completed the Pumpkin Head Man and am half way through the Salty Fisherman. These carvings are accessible to anyone wanting to try their hand at carving and fun for someone with more experience! The ability throw a 1” x 1” hunk of wood and a carving knife into a pocket, makes it the perfect project to take on a walk and work on in quiet moments.
Have you ever thought of carving a Viking in the 1” x 1” or 1 ½” x 1 ½” format? I would love to see your take on a Viking or a Viking with an axe and or a shield! The simple things in life like a sharp knife, a piece of wood and quiet time to create, feed the soul and a person’s creative juices. Thanks you for sharing your carving journey with us! You have inspired many to discover the simple joy of carving.
Love the 1x1Doug .Thanks so much

I love your 1 x 1s. So cute and simple. I still get Woodcarving Illustrated magazine and have ordered lots of wood carving and whittling books. I save your CZcams videos. Now, I just need to get my wood carving tools out and start carving again.
Really enjoying the 1x1 as they are easy to get in the uk. As new to carving I find your approach easy to follow and hope that you carry on enjoying the process and sharing your talent with the rest of us mere mortals. Thanks again
I love the audience of past characters in the background watching you carve! The eggplant man cracks me up.

Thanks for sharing your talent as a carver and your imagination in the variety of your projects.
Brilliant again 😊
Great Tutorial Video Doug, I'm really love it and very impresive how fast you make the draw and the cuts of the gnomes, I'm still on the learning process with your tutorials videos so I'm getting close steps by steps, thank you for your time to teach...Blessing!!🎉🎉😊
Love the 1 x 1 carvings, my favorite.
I bought a huge piece of basswood from my local hardwood guy to cut up on the bandsaw to smaller chunks
Wow is that stuff tough to carve. Very hard and dense.
Gonna put it aside for something else and find some better basswood...😊. My poor 70 year old hands cant stand the abuse anymore.
Is that a GLOVE I see ya wearin'? Yup Kevin Coats is definitely got the East Coast lifestyle down, but your Salty guy is pretty damn cutes also. Thx for taking the time to do this
Thank you for all your content you have nade me a better carver
Love it quite fun to watch.
Thanks!
Doug, as we say in Cornwall A Proper Job! Thank You.

Awesome. Can’t wait to do this.
Thanks Doug, still doing great stuff.
Great work Sir 💚🇬🇧🌱
Man, doing the face last is nerve-wracking, let alone doing the eyes last! That's always the easiest part for me to screw up. Can't wait to give this one a try
Great little carving Doug. Now I am off to the shop to cut more 1 x1 blocks.
Great stuff. I'm happy to see you back at it and having fun with the process.
Love the birds! 🐦🦩🦤 Can you do a Pelican to compliment the fisherman?
Great video love the 1x1 ‘s. Thanks for the inspiration.
Fun carving! I'm also hooked on 1x1 carvings, they're really practical. I've been exploring the idea of adding movement to them, so I'm happy to hear you're planning to create some content about that.
As usual great video Doug! Id love to see a video of the painting part . Keep it up man !

Great job Doug! I would love to see you carve a Maple Leaf 🍁 for a Fall themed episode.
Great teaching video. I wonder, when you started carving did you start pay more attention to what people are wearing and facial features. I find myself doing this.
Doug. You’re the best. Loving this series, but you crank them out tooooo fast. I was just looking at the Pumpkin Head guys.

Still happy 😂
I would love to also see you carve a birdhouse face, with the mouth being the bird hole entry.
Iffin yer from Newfie Doug me lad the hat is called a Cape Ann
Man, these look awesome, but based on my repeated failures on carving the hillbilly, I don't have the confidence to try it.
