    Nice, I didn't realize this video was so recent. I owned an N64 as a kid. I'm glad I got to play the game, even if the port wasn't perfect. The game feels like such a classic. I didn't know about the ethics system (Megaman turns dark the more "evil" things he does), and he can steal a briefcase of money (which I didn't know at the time, but would have alleviated a lot early money grinding). If he doesn't steal the briefcase, the servo bots build a hamburger restaurant. I also didn't realize that Wiley was in the game. I really enjoyed how most all the dungeons were connected once the player gets a weapon to break walls. That skate challenge was so hard. Have you tried Megaman Legends 2? I got stuck at a challenge trying to get a higher class of digger license and gave up. It's like shoot the enemy while running toward it, throw the two enemies into each other and continue to shoot. What's needed to beat it is crazy.

    You can hit Triangle on the PS1 version to further the dialogue a lot faster. It makes Rolls dialogue way faster

    N64 version has the best graphics and gameplay, but de PS1 version has the best sound. I want if they combine the best elements of each version (N64 load times and controllers; PSX audio quality) with other minor improvements (upscaled textures) as well as console exclusive stuff, and create a "definitive version". A proper 3d perspective on the N64 thanks to the Z buffering which is not supported on the PS1, also, the mip mapping on N64 made the textures look kinda blurry and since PS1 doesn't support mip mapping, it's textures did look better than N64's textures.

    Such a simple & comfy presentation, I mean that in the best way possible.

    I rented Mega Man 64 when I was a kid and the fact that he was called Mega Man was something my sister always pointed out too.

    If you compare both on original hardware, the N64 is actually a legitimately solid port for the time. It gave gamers a decent copy of the game with a slight resolution and model update even if PS1 still worked, looked, sounded, and played better. However comparing both being played via emulator, the N64 basically only has rounder models for characters and everything else is far worse. PS1 is easily the better version. Both play great at high res but the PS1 version is just much more visually crisp and has way better sound. For this particular game it's a clear case of the game already being really well optimized around the PS1's hardware.
    N64 is totally visually flat whereas PS1 has lighting gradients and simulated depth of field and other visual flairs. PS1 also has longer draw distance and fog distances. Also, it's not a terrible controlling N64 game but the "analog" controls are really just the stick simulating a digital d-pad anyway. There are far better controlling N64 titles. The PS1 just has an outright better control layout.
    I don't believe that N64's bilinear filtering was always right for textures. In this case I feel like it obscures detail and it clearly warps or stretches some textures that weren't meant to be filtered that way. Because of this the character and environment textures are outright better on PS1 with both games running at 1440p. Not only that but you can implement texture filtering via PS1 emulators and get a superior result to the N64. Beetle PSX HW's Jinc filtering combined with the setting to only filter 3D textures gives kickass image quality. Almost universally an improvement in every 3D game.
    The model jittering and texture warping is minimal in the PS1 version because it was well built around the PS1's limitations. So while texture warping is noticeably improved on N64, it's not a major upgrade because it wasn't really one of the games where it was a big problem. You can also fix it via PGXP hacks in modern PS1 emulators. I play most 3D PS1 games with PGXP and with that alone some of them totally outclass their N64 counterparts.

    "Artificial Life Forms have replaced Humans".
    Either that's a deep-lore spoiler, or something went wrong in translation or research.
    Since I know the ending, I can't disagree that the people are "artificial", it just might imply "they're all robots", which I'm pretty sure they are not. Unless they are and I just never read into the lore enough.

    You should give the second game a play! You will learn that oots water temple was not in fact that bad, I am not joking when I say that the water dungeon in the second game halves your speed for half an hour and then when you are back at normal speed it feels like the game is going too fast.

      @prolefeed101  Před 9 měsíci

      I have never had any issues with the Water Temple. It was hyperbole as the majority of this channel is me joking about things. I doubt I'll play the second game unless I can find it at a reasonable price.

      @@prolefeed101 I mean unless you have a ps3 probably not then, it is relatively fun but I do prefer the first game. The other thing is emulating it which could work if you want to give it a go but yeah otherwise dont bother, I was blessed enough to have a physical copy from who knows when but dont go out of your way to play it.

    Mega Man 64 is also only 20fps while Legends is 30fps.
    Mega Man 64 has worse textures, audio, and a worse framerate. If anybody can choose between the two versions they should go with the PS1 version.
