Heads up for all the peeps in 2025 when August 5 will be on a Tuesday again. Would be cool if the weather repeated as well, but I'm sure someone will let me know in 22 months.
Pinning this as a !RemindMe in 22 Months
@@user-np7vo3mk1fRemindMe! 23 months!
i’m setting my calanders
Lol. Same here. My granny used to watch the weather channel all the time for some reason, but I got hooked. By the time I was 8, I knew all the states and capitals. Still do and I'm almost 40.
good call
I used to make fun of my grandparents for watching the weather channel. Twenty years later here I am.
Vaporwave OGs
Nice pfp dawg
SPOSED TO!
Yeah I would say the same thing. Is it coincidental the parallel nostalgia?
Look at you!!
The Weather Channel was always that place outside of time where you go to save your progress.

I am really glad that this mixtape got so popular. I can't believe it will be 8 years ago this coming August that I posted this. We may not have gotten to 100 but getting over 50 hours is itself kind of cooler because the vaporWARE aspect of this project lives on with its eternally indefinite hiatus of completion.
As I was listening, I imagined myself sat stop a large building overlooking the downtown.
The sky is overcast and a storm is rolling in. The moisture has a distinct smell as the air grows warmer.
Thousands of people down below each with their own stories. I could spend a lifetime just imagining what each of them are doing tonight. But I remember I have my own life to live.
This playlist is amazing. Thank You
This playlist is incredible. Thank you so much.
I swear in the 90's it was nothing better sitting in the house during a rainy day watching the TWC! Thanks for the memories!
They definitely had some lovely music back in the day! I miss it!
I haven't had cable TV since '01, so idk if they still do stuff like this, but would be nice if they did!
@@kdepp90 I forgot when exactly but they've stopped playing all the classics. They even made an announcement about it. It sux now.
@@xamit1u aww that's a shame! 😢

I agree
I'm glad all of us ambient weather channel weirdos can gather together and relive this
*PERMANENT SNOW DAY*
Reminds me of sitting in a hotel room on vacation with my parents when I was a kid, planning our day based around the local reports on the Weather Channel.
That’s such a fond comfort memory to me: hotel room, early morning, coffee you made in the room, and the weather channel
Reminds me of sitting on the couch at 1am, a light snow falling outside, and the soft glow of the tv as the only light in the room. Takes me back.
On a fri with no work the nekst deigh
Dang man forreal! Knowing i was gonna have off school the next day. Those were the days
Back then, as a child, it made you feel wistful and nostalgic before you could truly appreciate these emotions. They’re only magnified now.
Their business travelers forecast 🎶tunes 🎶 were nice
amazing
Artzie Music love it soo much this mix here

everybody misses these feels. everybody.
Rick Sanchez it was were i was first introduced to smooth Jazz
Omg you are so right .... the 90's just hit that spot ! This & the prevue channel . 🙄💕 oh my , I was in elementary school but still caught that vibe
Damn straight!
@Rick Sanchez Weather channel music is awesome, especially weatherscan.
I miss the graphics. Even when I was scared of the weather (watches/warning), the music made me feel strangely calm, like everything would be alright.
I get so relaxed listening to this and then 17:25 scares the shit out of me every time
jgrab6 17:25 song that resembles local on the 8s the most
I noted the time stamp and went to a different tab and still got scared
Could you imagine somebody sneaking an EAS alert into this mix
NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE
@@asolom39 NONONO DON'T GIVE THEM IDEAS-
Me and my bestfriend would used to just watch MTV or Weather Channel during the Summer in the 90s. We didn't had any grand plans. Either we'll stay at home watch tv and play video games or chill in his house's balcony which has an amazing view and the breeze is just right.
Same here !
You have the spelling/grammar of a zoomer. I don't believe you were alive in the 1990's.
you (@@u.sprotectionsecurityservi2945 two) had the best life
This is the sound of being too hungover to get up and reach for the remote, because doing so will cause extreme nausea. I love it.
peak nostalgia. dad looking out the window constantly... "YOU KNOW IT'S STORMING OUT?" yes dad, i know...
I'm not sure what it was but TV seemed a lot more clearer and HiDef in the very late 80's and 90's. I remember watching Headline News, Arsenio Hall and other shows and were blown away but how clear and detailed they looked. even these weather channel graphics look good. And that was on a little 13 inch Panasonic color TV I had in my dorm.
The nostalgia is so strong. the TV in my bedroom had an alarm function. The channel was set to TWC and the wake-up time was whatever :08! Loved waking up to the local on the 8's! ha ha,
In my hometown, there used to be four or five family-owned diners that were open 24/7. They've significantly reduced their hours since then. My father and I had a tradition of periodically visiting one of those places in the middle of the night-especially during summer. I remember sitting in the living room on warm, humid nights and watching The Weather Channel while we waited for our 2:30 AM breakfast adventures. Great memories.
If you are an 80s baby and 90s kid but didn't fall asleep in the glow of the The Weather Channel on TV, HOW DID YOU EVEN LIVE?
So true! Calling 411, call waiting, block buster, phone books, TI calculators in the backpack, man the memories!! This generation don’t even understand.
@@BlaqueDNA Yeah, I would trade 2020 anyday for those years as long as I got to keep my kids! My children have no idea how much simpler and better life was then and WITHOUT today's technology.
Every day after school, i'd pop a bag of popcorn and watch the Weather Channel on the living room tv until my parents got home from work and kicked me off it lol
i spent many winter nights and mornings watching the weather channel as a kid, brings back fond memories from the blizzard that hit my area in 1998, i was happy i didn't have to go back to school for 2 weeks
I remember watching TWC during early mornings and nights 2005-2011. I especially remember the nightly summer breeze coming through the windows as I'd fall asleep in my living room to the local on the 8s.
Fun fact! The original song at 25:01 is called Mystical Composer by Momoko Kikuchi. It’s a really nice song :)
My childhood is kicking in...and kicking in hard...omg..I used to watch TWC all the time when I was younger. Idk why....I got bored and just loved looking at stuff like this. XD Even though they never really show my area that much.
same here, I miss seeing the old 90s graphics or the old 80s commercial music. good times!
Local on the 8s - our childhood passage into G O O D V I B E S
Except for Local on the 8’s!!
So did I. Not sure why, guess it was just soothing and pleasant to me. It's awesome to see these retro weather channel screens. Really puts me in a very good place!
same!!!
Missing the days when the logo had shading and curved corners and white edges. Just felt more soft and friendly than today’s solid block. That in and of itself is nostalgic. The days when you didn’t know if school was cancelled until you saw your school scroll across the bottom. The weather channel will never be the same. I miss local on the 8s😔
I watched an old 90's weather channel broadcast with some great 90's saxophone music in it the other day and the nostalgia hit me hard, now this shows up in my recommended. The algorithms know me man.
TWC easy listening 🎶tunes 🎶 in the day... 📺

Everybody trying to figure out what city this forecast is based out of! I remember as a kid seeing the different cities and wondering what life was like there especially when you saw the whole US map! These kids don’t even understand how simple things were back then and yet we had so much fun and energy!
Omg me too!!!
I liked watching and dreaming of seeing those places. I have been lucky to do so. Adventure onward!
👍🏽
honestly god bless you for this. my favorite things, old twc forecasts and vaporwave.
@speedy memey: God*
@@RapidCycling07 i dont believe in god u delusional twat why would i put it in lowercase
The fact that this gives me the same vibes and feelings as the Weatherscan channel's music does is so important and meaningful to me. Funny enough both of these soundtracks give me a huge amount of comfort (in an otherwise anxiety-riddled mind); this is such a well done playlist
My grandpa would put on TWC almost every day in 1996-2002 especially, and I would remember the constant jazz interludes followed by weather reports as a cozy earliest memory. Glad that you share the comfort in this!
This gives nostalgic memories to all the 90s kids. I would imagine myself on a rainy day staying home and watch the local forecast on tv with smooth jazz playing on the background
I used to watch the Weather channel as a kid. I remember it just like in this video. Thanks!!!!
+Jonah Ruiz vaporwave always gives me a nostalgic feeling, reminding me of the weather channel/cold weather as a kid.
lying on the clean carpet in the family room just puttin on this channel and coloring in ur speed racer coloring book on a very gloomy day when the sun is just starting set, wile ur momma is cooking ur favorite meal.
the sadder thing is we didn't even have cable growing up, so this was my memory only from when we were on vacation. i'd watch TWC still, lol
Same!! I miss that layout too.
Man I would lay down at night listening to the Weather Channel. Thinking, how are they playing better smooth jazz? On this channel than on the smooth jazz radio stations at that time.
Thank you for this upload. 👊🏾
I could only handle so much History Channel during the summer. So, I would watch TWC. Some of the best sleep I've ever gotten was having TWC on during sick days from school. I'd be exhausted for my guts trying to come out of my mouth, and not in the mood for a TV show so I'd throw this on and pass out with some soup and soda. Such a shame it turned into an ad platform.
Ah, the Weather Channel in the 1990s. I spent hours watching it during summer. I was interested in weather generally. My favorite segment was the Tropical Update. It was also fun to get the seismic report that occasionally came. Yeah, it wasn't weather, but it was a natural phenomenon that they briefly reported on for some reason. It was rare to catch and so super cool. Local On the 8s was the best! The smooth jazz was amazing, and I still love listening to that. Man, to go back to a time before everyone was so obsessed with constantly being productive and busy, when you could still rebuke that prod to action by reminding the person that life isn't only about being productive all the time. People have seriously forgotten how to chill out, relax, and just enjoy doing nothing in particular. It's how you recharge your batteries. Now for all the work we do, we can't even afford cable to watch the Weather Channel. Sigh...
Back to Local on the 8s and some George Benson and his guitar. Maybe there'll be thunderstorms tonight... It's better than watching "Ferngully" or "Power Rangers," but then Ducktales is on in an hour... Choices.
42:04 it's O R G A S M I C. You can see the vapor coming out from a lake in a warm night, a full moon in the background.
Aaah yes! Just what I was looking for! 2017 and still remember the good old twc local forecast and graphics. I was born in 1990 and grew up watching twc. Here i am in 2017 with a bachelors degree in Meteorology. :) my favorite music. Used to just wait for local on the 8s for the music.
'92 born here. My grandpa was responsible for keeping The Weather Channel on nonstop in the summertime, so smooth jazz / city pop / synth funk melodies are the soundtrack to both the summer and the rain for me. My guess is, being in FL, Hurricane Andrew might've spooked him to be more aware of the meteorological tropics. I really hope this mix captured that feel well. I'm considering doing another one in this theme, since this one is now (holy crap, unbelievably) 2+ years old.
I super love this aesthetic. Reminds me of simpler times
if only the weather channel had vaporwave everyone will like the tunes when the local on the 8s happen
agreed. a lot of cable providers are dropping The Weather Channel from their packages and unfortunately my TWC was replaced with some garbage called 'Weatherbug', which has no music and forces you to take in the entire nation's weather instead of just your region. ridic
LSTHETIC
There is a local version of it 24/7 around me, still plays smooth jazz. Around December they might play smooth jazz Christmas music iirc.
I was surprised.
Here's a little secret to scratch that itch: Google "WeatherStar 4000+" and just type in your location and boom, current weather with literally the same classic TWC aesthetic as in this video. It's basically a very accurate emulator of the original program that created these old weather graphics for TWC.
@@user-np7vo3mk1f Good riddance I bailed TWC when they started playing movies, Cantore Stories, Storm Stories, dropped the smooth jazz music selection and weren't sticking to providing weather forecasting.
Brings back so many memories. One summer day I remembered the Local on the 8’s mentioned “a few passing clouds!”
feels like people were so much calmer and happier in the 90's/2000's
Less obvious psyops

I remember when I was a kid when my mother and father and I took trips to Arkansas we would sometimes spend the night at a hotel from our trips. There would be one particular station on the hotel television that had exactly what's up on the screen now with this type of music. You can't beat this. It's that good.
Vaporwave could only ever exist in a future where the future never came.
This is exactly what I always think of when I hear vaporwave - the old Weather Channel local forecasts from the early 1990's. Great work on this mix.
I recorded this on to VHS and now I get to reimagine the 80s on my TV made from the same time period. Life is g o o d.
I'm not gonna lie, really loving this mix right now.

I remember turning the channel to the Weather Channel at night to fall asleep to this music.
This immediately hits on the first song. I used to love weather Channel music as a kid. During family gatherings I'd always put it on for ambiance. Just so calming and nostalgic
I'm from Chile and never enjoyed the weather channel.
This feels like a throwback to something I've never experienced before.
The weather channel was how I learned American geography. Cities, states, state capitals, etc.
The weather channel was so much nicer back then. Now it’s nothing but doom and gloom and how the dark orange colours on the forecast map will kill us all….. 😮
This is Art.
Nice it's going to be sunny and warm out. 68f, just the way I like it.
Reminds me of being 18... getting up at 4am for work. Mom already at work at the restaurant below our apartment. Dad chilling + drinking coffee before he goes to work at 6am. I always thought it was silly that he did this, then found myself doing the same early morning routine when I moved out at the age of 20. Sitting in the dark at 4am with coffee, waking up, clearing my head with TWC music.
I remember this very well from when I was like kid from when I was like 10 or 12 years old. Lot of memories of the good old days.
In the 90’s i use to fall asleep to this channel
Oh man the flashbacks I got watching this...
Pov: going to school on a sunny weekday morning
your hairstyle is dope, new outfit you were excited to wear, fresh sneakers and you're getting a ride from Mom instead of taking the school bus because she's feeling nice today 😂 and she takes you to McDonald's for breakfast so you're feeling yourself and your young life and you walk into the cafeteria and most of your classmates acknowledge your coolness in compliments and looks of approval lol ❤ then you see your crush blush
I see you are a man of culture. You uploaded this in 4:3, great for my 800x600 CRT monitor.
Perfect for VHS recordings, which of course I've done and I can watch N listen to it on my vintage TVs and monitors.

Random Words it's one of the best things in the world in my opinion. I'm so glad I discovered it, so many memories.
when I would stay with my grandparents, I'd always wake up to this... my pappa with his cup of coffee and the weather channel on. So great.

This giving me the massive feels and nostalgia thrills. 80's baby for life!

I did like how simple it was
Such a captivating upload.
I love this. Thank you so much!
Great mix, thank you for sharing.
I love when it starts just losing its shit at 27:59
I remember watching this before school in the mid 90s. I would be eating a microwave pizza for breakfast and flipping back and forth between TWC and VH1.
