- Hi everyone, I'm back for another epic solo adventure, and this time, I go back to the Peak District for a much needed hike to Kinder Downfall via Crowden Clough scramble.
Apologies for the sound quality I forgot my mic muffler and am a bit rusty in my YT making.

Good Morning from a South African living in Switzerland ..
Yep, 'getting out' does wonders for the Soul .. one gets the opportunity to mull over 'stuff' and often during and thereafter, Mountains previously, turn into Hills.
'Unfit'. Some advice I got from a Susanne Williams .. "Always remember the '70'% Rule' .. don't exceed 70% of your capacity .. keep that 30% in reserve." That and from own experience, 'Heart Training Rate' is a good guideline. You will increase your fitness level whilst enjoying doing so without exhausting oneself.
After 73 summers, with wrecked knees and hip joints that are feeling their age, running and long distance treks with heavy loads are something of the past 😔 .. however, I keep fit now Nordic Walking with shorter backpack outings still on the menu. I live on the Rhine with a forest right behind me, so within 5 minutes I'm 'in the bush' 😁.
This morning's pre-dawn walk .. overcast, snow has mostly melted .. with that and wind, resulting in a wind chill of -13°C. Refreshing 😏 and surprising how it clears one's head of 'baggage' 😊.
A pair of Binocs are always a good take-along. I have a pair that looks like an exact clone of those that you have .. same magnification and objective except in Camo and brand name 'Bushnell Ensign'. Had them at least 30 years.
Protect those knees now .. they will be grateful for it and show their appreciation many years hence 😊. Hiking poles are a good worthwhile investment and have many lateral-think uses.
As an aside, that area that you were hiking in looks very similar to the Bulwer District in the KZN / Kwazulu-Natal Midlands .. the foothills of the Drakensberg (Mountains). I have fond memories thereof going back to the late 60's 😊.

This lady is quality I have been inspired to start camping again, I will wait until it gets warmer 😂 for me. And start in the spring. I have watched a lot of these Videos and they are like documentaries, just brilliant. Well done keep it up.

Yeh exactly... weekly vids especially in the winter is no way easy to do and I'd rather not force them and post for the sake of it. And yeh the scramble suddenly got a lot more difficult by the waterfall so filming had to stop whilst I clawed my way up lol 😱😱

Keep up getting outdoors. A good hike or camp is worth 20 visits to the head shrinker. Also went back to the outdoors after things started to get to much for me. Now as a pensioner I usually manage 2 or 3 hikes a week. Fortunately I live not 10 minutes drive away from the Table Mountain nature reserve which has some excellent day hiking with an abundance of endemic wild flowers. Makes life really worth living. So keep going and keep the videos flowing

Cool video, being outside is the BEST tonic, keeps me going, hopefully be up that way ,doing some low level stuff, plus wildcamping, as health permits, poles and gloves are essential this time of year, (especially gloves for scrambling), shame about Pedro, but as one door closes ,another one opens, new memories to be had ,good health and safe travels, cheers craig

Done lots of mountain biking but if I remember right Jacobs ladder and kinder scout was the only one I had to be saved from by car - went from Glossop over Jacobs ladder and got to Hayfield but was just too pooped to continue. Early shifts suck to the max - always preferred lates and nights. Hope you don't quit adventuring as i've only just found your channel xD .....
I'm not an early shift worker either and we do 7 in a row...bleugh.. strangely enough I get up early for a hike tho! Amd yeh kinderscput always batters me haha 😄 thanks for watching!!

You did the right thing by dropping down through the woolpacks to find the path that takes you to Jacob's Ladder. It's a shame you missed out on Kinder Downfall buy it will always be there for another day.. Agree with you said regarding getting outside, it's the best medicine anyone can prescribe. Hope your ok 😁

Glad to see you back out in the hills and seemingly back to normal after your shall I say struggle. Do I assume that wasn't drowned drone? My walking club went down that route, several of us blame knee and back pains on that decision. When you get to the narrow footbridge you know it's easy from there.

Glad to see you back out there. Absolutely agree it's the best for the mind, body and soul, certainly needed it myself over the last year or so. Yeh Edale car park.. I pull in and use toilets lol then a mile down road to Barber Booth.. it used to be free but now is showing a new pay display box. It wasn't working yet tho.

Great video, i love a good scramble and yeah they can challenge ya, but the sense of achievment after and the views are awe inspiring. I also totally agree that what ever your going through getting out and stomping the hills does the headspace the world of good. I kbow ya said ya get a bit anxious as ya start losing the sun. So my advice is go do a nice evening walk and come back with the headtorch along a path ya know. I love a good night walk. All the best and keep the videos coming. Welcome back an early Christmas present
Great to see you back, if even by your own admissions you're not quite back to yourself. As others have stated you've started the healing process. Your car adventures inspired to me to convert my little Kia Picanto into a micro camper. I must stress of course not for wild camping as such but a fun few days at festivals etc. I must say I love the night sleeps I get in it - might forget my proper bed and move in on the drive at home😂. So cozy that bit off the ground. Anyway, keep up the good work.

i did that edale round to kinder then down jacobs last march and from just before jacobs ladder i didnt have water in the summer and i satruggled! haha
