    Partzilla is a great site but $120 plus $30 shipping is silly. I got OEM parts off Amazon for just over $40 all in and went on the same as Honda parts as I have replaced the front brakes on my 2001 Foreman 450s before with genuine parts. Watched this for a refresher though and very good instructional video.

      Hey I have a 99 Honda foreman 450 and I replace the whole front brakes, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder and the brakes still won't stop the machine. Any suggestions. Thanks

      @@chrismaragoudakis7603 did you adjust the cylinder assembly so the brake shoes barely touch inside the drum? That or you possibly have an air lock in the lines and bleeding them and topping off the reservoir should help? Some of the bolts for the master cylinder have holes for oil flow they may not be lined up

      @chrismaragoudakis7603 Před rokem +1

      Yes I adjusted the wheel cylinders quite a bit. Maybe I need to go more. Bleed the brake lines too. But the handle still feels spongie. Thanks

    I’m not getting pressure when I pump the brake lever next to the master cylinder on the handlebar. As a result, my front brakes don’t work. Can you offer some advice?

    You forgot to put a very thin wipe of white lithium (as HONDA uses) or specific high temp brake grease on each of the three raised pads the shoes rest on the backing plate, without the grease the shoes won't push out or retract smoothly or retract at all & drag on the drum.

    Great videos, if that’s the correct name. Have a new 520 manual, a 2003 350 2wd and a 1997 2wd 300 from new.
    These videos are great as I’m into brakes etc on the two older bikes.
    Seems a nice sort of guy also.

    Very informative video! How big of a difference would a 93 Honda Fourtrax trx300fw be following about the same procedure as the video. I have to replace all 4 tires and front right CV shaft so i figured why not replace the master cylinder and brake shoes since i am down there.

      Braking system is mechanically the same. Might be some subtle differences just from the age difference.

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  Před 6 lety

      What do you mean the pistons are stuck? A little more detail on what it's doing would help. Typically, if the pistons won't move at all, you will have to take the caliper apart and inspect them.
