- In this episode my girlfriend and I are fishing with her dad Ray on Caddo Lake, the largest cypress forest in the world, looking for giant bass. Ray has a 10 pound bass hanging on his wall from this lake, and the big girls are bedding down against the millions of cypress trees that cover the lake. We're showing you some strategies for catching bass during the spawn and having a ton of fun while doing it.

That looks wild man, adding this to my list of places to fish. I grew up in Texas but didn't get into the outdoors until I moved away and now I'm discovering new places in my home state that I never knew existed. Great video Robert!
It’s an incredible destination! Worth a trip!
Taking these tips back to my local lake, gotta try that sunny side of the cypress tree tip.
Warms up faster!
Robert this is quite the trip! You're on a roll. Enjoying the videos more and more.
Thanks so much
Love that swamp bite. Freaking Jurassic Park stuff lives there! 👍🏼 keep at it man.
Best fishing channel by far! Cant wait to see more, thanks.
Thanks so much Brad
Another banger sir... You never disappoint with the knowledge or the video production and quality 👌
Much Love and Respect 🙌
Thanks so much brother
We love bowfin fishing in sandy bottom rivers in SC and get multiple 5-9 pounders in a day. So much fun to catch and if you know how to cook them, are delicious.
Curious about cooking em. They’re bony aren’t they?
They are actually not bony at all. Thick boneless filets. You have to filet them immediately or they get mushy, but a little flour with that Justin Wilson seasoning mixed in and pan fried they are awesome.
Another awesome video. I’m always looking forward to them.
Thanks David!
Caddo Lake is an awesome fishery, I fish it often and it always impresses me - it is a beautiful place
It really is
Another great story to tell. I was wondering about your gf. Hadn't seen her in awhile. Glad to see you two together! She's a keeper man. Her dad seems like the OG of Bass fishing haha 👏
I agree she is a nice catch
They’re both awesome
Liked it before I even watched bro. You never fail!
Thanks so much 🙏🏼
Just got my new Oldtown kayak delivered now I need to drag it down there after watching your video, very cool.
Go get em!
As someone who's studying engineering using kgs, g, and km. that was prime. Laughed so hard. Its the other way for me. I hate seeing the Lb and always try to change it to kg... As always brilliant content Rob keep it up!!!
Hahaha we were cracking up
Love your channel bro, keep em comin.
Thanks man!
I loved this! Love our new family 😘❤️
Love you lady!
We need to all go fishing next time you’re here!
Love your videos. You deserve many more subscribers !
Thank you 🙏🏼
I went to lake Moultrie in south Carolina acouple of times....the guys I go with wade the lake in waders...we fish every cypress tree....gators are everywhere.... keep the videos coming brother
Yeah it’s a little early for gators now but they’ll be out soon
Love Caddo. Was out there yesterday afternoon, caught 11!
I love field trips, I just love them 😁
Thanks mark!
Giants indeed!!! So awesome!! 😎🍻💯
We were FISHING for giants but CATCHING mediums lol
Definitely have to check that out on one of my fishing trips
It’s an amazing place
There's a saying in SC.... it's a tough day when you can't get the bowfin (mudfish) to bite. They are plentiful in the water here. Nice video, love some bass fishing.
Super cool species
It looks like someones back in the States :) its good to have you back for a bit, sir 🇺🇸
Good to be back brother!
Those pickerel look so much like the pike I’m used to catching. We call our walleye pickerel out in Sask, very cool to see!
Mucho bueno my friend 💪🏽
Gracias hermano
hahah love how you developed a Texas accent all of a sudden
I’m from Texas
@@YakFishField I know I've been watching your channel for quite some time haha
Good to see y’all guys again 🤙
Good to be back!
Crazy to see lakes I fish every weekend show up on CZcams lol
Would like to see a spring crappie trip sometime! Caddo lake is beautiful.
The shark kayak fishing video was the video that got me back into fishing last time went fishing was prob 2006 now I'm fully back into it🎣
This is my hometown waters! God Bless deep East Texas!
My girl’s neck of the woods. I’m learning to love east Texas!
that's such a cool lake, I'd like to check it out one day
Truly epic landscape.
I’m 30 mins from this lake and I’ve never fished it before, might have to give it a try
You definitely should!
"You got it on kilometers" 🤣
Hahaha
Caddo is super fun lake. We spend lots of the summer out there swimming in Bradley canal or some people call it cathedral.
Beautiful, too
Great day of fishing
I live by that garlic Spike It die... I literally spent hours not catching anything and then I decided to give it a try thinking if it doesn't work I'll get it out my boat before it spills but I caught a limit in about an hour after dying the tail of my fluke. I've got that crap all over inside my tackle compartment now... LOL
Hahaha it’s definitely messy
It's been said before, but your channel is so underrated.
Thanks so much Cameron
Wacky rig rob is back, let’s go!
Hahaha
@@YakFishField I’ve been swim jig jman so far this spring
Love the vids, have been following for a while now but i gotta ask, is there any plans to get the lightning kayaks over to the UK/EU because id love to get one in the UK? Only real alternative is a hobie but they are just so much more expensive and i actually prefer the looks and features on yours rather than theirs. Much Love @Field Trips with Robert Field
We’d love to but freight is a nightmare right now. I was actually born in London so I’d love to get our yaks over to the motherland. Hopefully soon
Awesome video
Thanks Deborah!
Gotta get rid of that weed guard on the wacky rig and you will stop missing fish. And in general with water that clear you need to make long cast before the fish can see you.
Yeah just tons of grass
I wasn't used to launching in current and when I backed up at the Jefferson boat ramp the current almost slammed me into another boat. To avoid hitting the boat next to me I goosed it so I would go back a little faster and miss the other boat. I missed the other boat but my SS prop hit a cypress knot and I bent the prop shaft on my Yamaha HPDI 150. Other than that I had a wonderful day. Is Don Henley still living down there? Liked your video. I sure miss fishing. We all get old way too soon.
I love your videos I got my girlfriend into bass fishing and she loves it😁 and just a coincidence she the nurse like your girlfriend🤣🤣✊🏾
Nice!
Need to use a straight shank bait hook with the wacky rig senko with a o ring. They don't miss the barb of the hook on the straight shank like it does with the circle hook
Not actually. I use a circle hook on a wacky rig and rarely miss fish. My buddy uses a worm shank hook and has the same success as me. Looks like he’s just not setting the hook hard enough.
This might sound crazy but when you throw your wacky rig and get bit try to set the hook like you would on a crank bait. just pull into it rather than the quick jerk. you will hook up with way more fish on the wacky that way. I wasn't a believer until I was!
A most Magical lake.
Indeed
Nice nice
You got it in kilometers 🤣😂
Hahaha
If you want to catch a bowfin go to the oil field canals in Southern Louisiana. I guarantee you will catch some nice ones.
It’s nice to have a break from the panama videos.
Yeah!
Wire weed guard, light action rod with stretchy line. Ooops
It's true that there's only one LAKE in Texas, and this one is it.
Yep
Robert, you need to stop using those rubber hooks ,, LOL.
No kidding!
Gotta respect a man who can get schooled all day by a girl and still proudly posts the video
It’s a regular occurrence
Nice God blessed you
Yes he did
come back to georgia bro you skipped out on lake lanier and Savannah Georgia. Lake lanier's got some huge striped and spotted bass with the lake record for striped bass being 46 lbs. Savannah Georgia is just something you need to experience man.
I’d love to fish Lanier one day
Is that a bit of a southern accent I hear developing? Haha
Are these fish no good to eat or is it a protected species ? We don't have them in Australia.
LMB are delicious eating but incredibly frowned upon to eat them. I eat some males here and there and probably some small females too. But I'm in Florida and our LMB are fast and LARGE growing (up to 20lb) and aggressive AF so eating the smaller helps out the gene pool 🤷♂️
Caddo is one of the best bass lakes in Texas and it is my understanding that there is a slot on the bass to help protect the fishery it think it 12 or 14in to 18 in .
@Richard, we have Australian Bass here, and Estuary Pearch which are basically the same fish
They can be good to eat but they’re the #1 sport fish in the US so most release them. Some people even get mad if you keep them. But not me, I’ve eaten bass plenty
Robert. A pickeral? Dont people up north call those baby muskies?
No, but they’re related to muskies
Kilometers😂🤣
Hahaha
6'6" or 6'8" MH is your friend with this kind of fishing
Agreed
Hell ya follow
It’s a Tex/Louisiana lake
Let the fish set the hook
ONLY good vibes
Always. Miss ya buddy 👊🏼
You’re saying got-em to soon.
Indeed I was
Did she really stand dead center in that boat, six inches from two stowing compartments and ask which side the net was in when she could have looked in both quicker than it took her to ask?
It was in neither of those compartments and its always different in the heat of the moment as opposed to watching from the comfort of your couch. No reason to be rude… just plain silly to be that way
@@YakFishField I didn't mean to come off that way. I thought it was funny is all.
I went there 10 years ago even hired the best guide around and didn't catch one fish .On the 2nd day we fished lake Bistono no fish . It's just not the lake it was
That’s fishing. Sometimes they just aren’t biting
gotta let the fish bite the whole worm b4 u rip it like dat
You right
Got to let them eat the whole thing before u set the hook
Yeah I was setting too early I think you’re right
Menos Platica !!! y mas Accion !!! Gracias...........
Me thinks he could be setting to soon
For sure
@@YakFishField Hey I have done that same thing more times than I could count in on one trip I started to set the hook which made the fish miss the bait. ☹
Beautiful lady that knows how to fish. The perfect woman does exist.
Yes she does
Should have used a lizard
Lose the spinning rod
I struggle throwing super light stuff on baitcasters and I definitely can’t skip with one
Personally I think you're setting the hook too quickly and yanking it out of their mouth before they have it deep in their mouth
Could be
So you only have one rod on the boat ?? at least you changed color . too hard for me to watch
Sorry you had to endure it
Great viedo but you talk to much you would better to fish more and talk less
Cool I’ll jot that down
Your problem is you talk too much.!!
Isn’t a problem for me. If it is for you, I’m terribly sorry.
Stop talking
No
