Join Storytellers of Appalachia for a look at the oldest continually operating grist mill in Virginia, and likely the United States- Wades Mill in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley!
You can really see the joy and pride they have for this historical mill. I love her accent too! It’s wonderful that this mill is still being preserved by people with such passion and love for it.
Fascinating!! So wonderful that the mill has been preserved, still in operation and cared for by such a committed and knowledgeable couple. Josh, as I watched this I was so impressed by the quality of the whole video. The content, filming, music and editing. It has a lovely flow and was such a pleasure to watch. "Very" well done. 🥰🌿♥️🌿🥰
Wow! That is exciting to see that this mill is still in existence and operating today. It is a beautiful landscape. I think it is neat that they found some of the old tickets from the day. Sounds like they had a barter system going in the older days. I like that kind of system. Great job. Keep the videos coming!
US patent #3, signed by George Washington. I'm reasonably sure even the dozing guys in the back of the room during our 4th hour US history class in high school would have been engaged by the video of this precious landmark. And I second Meg's comments about the video's quality and flow. It was over all too quickly. ;)
We love hearing from you in the comments, what did you think about this short story?
