Allan Moffat initially campaigned a Cologne Capri in the 1976 Australian Sports Sedan Championship, but the regulators wouldn't let it run with tyres of the appropriate width. He bought the Monza in the US and brought that to Australia as a replacement, but it proved another car that fell foul of officialdom because they questioned its legality. He eventually managed to run both, but Ford pushed him to park the Monza when they offered him factory backing for his Touring Car programme. The car sat idle until 1979 when he refurbished it and returned it to active duty after (once again!) losing his Ford backing. I have had the privilege to meet Allan a number of times away from the track and found him to be a total gentleman with an exceptional memory for details and statistics. Sadly, he now resides in a care facility as dementia slowly steals away his treasured memories. However, I'm sure he would be happy to see the Monza returned to its former glory. The only detail worth noting is that when he ran the car with its current livery, it carried the race number 200 in tribute to the US Bicentenary.
I love how you show the personality of your guests, this is a really great video which gives an insight into Zac’s time off and what a petrol head he is, as you are, love the Audi, thanks for all of your videos.....
Thank you 😊 appreciate the support xx
Love Zak's toys which look like brutes! He's got a real racer with Lando and hoping they can take a big step up and really compete for championships. Thanks Jodie!
That Hurley Haywood Audi is one of my all time favorite race cars! I remember when it raced here in the US. The sound is iconic! I'm glad it found a good home with Zak and it's being driven.
The noise it made was biblical! 😍
Your enthusiasm Jodie is so infectious! They were claiming the biggest super fan title but surely you’d be in the running on that one! Great video as usual 👏👏
Aw thanks xx
Zak has such a passion, knowledge as well as an awesome personal collection he shared recently in the Sweet Shop … great video!
Oh Jodie I just love all your videos. Love the knowledge, your enthusiasm and sheer joy you share. Fabulous thankyou x
Thanks Jennie xx
You've got to 🧡 Zack Brown. If I could work in F1, I'd really want to work with McLaren. Zack is such a gear head too.
He's such a great guy xx
As always a fabulous video and great vibes. Always a joy to watch. That Audi. And loved the blue of Zak’s suit!
Haha me too! Thanks xx
My very favorite your guezt Zack Brown!!! Great Respect
He’s a popular one for sure! Xx
I have had the pleasure of hearing and watching both the Monza and the Audi both race at the Mid-Ohio race course, loved the sounds of both. I remember the 1st race that went to getting goosebumps from hearing sounds of different cars on the track before I could see them!
Another great one, great! So fun!
Jodie just love your ENTHUSIASM your inciteful questions. Obviously you know these people and they seem so relaxed around your interview. Good luck and keep them coming!
Thanks so much 😍😍
Oh you and Zack, that's a never ending friendship and discover about cars and cars and cars and it's endless. Awesome. Keep it up and also keep it up Zack! We need more 😊
Thanks Dani! Working on it xx
What a joy I get when you drop a new podcast. Always a pleasure to see Zack what a car guy. And of course seeing g you is always awesome. I'm sure it would be difficult to get around an event like this, you just wouldn't know where to stop and look. Once again great to see you, make it a great evrning,jw
Thanks Jerry! Zak is such a hero xx
One of my fav motorsport related channels. Keep up the amazing work. Brown is a true gear head. The Trans Am series winning Audl 200 that he owns in an absolute monster!
thanks so much. He sure is! Xx
Just found this, you were great in the Classic Car Show, your enthusiasm for any form of motor sport shines through as always.
Thanks Brian 💙
Thanks Jodie for yet another super interesting video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for a very nice viewing of the supercool Audi 200 Trans-Am.
The old 10V engines truly are a distinct creation of it's own, and the 500 hp marque sure makes them most of what one can.
Wish he'd tell us some more specs of things though.
Love it! You've absolutely the #1 channel on YT Jodie. Great content please keep it up! Awesome (as someone would say 😉)
Thanks so much 💙
Wow. I wasn't expecting the video to be that short. Great job as always, Jodie, too bad you didn't get to drive any of those beasts.🏁
Would have loved a bit longer, but as always these are busy track days! So only managed to grab a few minutes with Zak.
Jodie, your channel has become so brilliant (especially in my mind after the Nigel interview) that when I see a new video of yours has dropped it makes me feel very happy and full of delight to see it in my notifications. I can't wait for what you have planned for the rest of the year!
Wonderful! Thank you xx
Awesome, yes Moffat was a Canadian, but most of his life was spent in Australia, that with Jones F1, a very strong Aussie ep :)
Love the comment on Silverstone !!! Think I'll rewatch that on the weekend 👍😎
Enjoy xx
Great video Jodie. Thanks for posting. Cheers, John.
My pleasure!
You really are in the best sweet shop in the world! A Williams FW07B as a track day car... That's wild! Superb video again Jodie x
Sufficiently mental right?! Glad you enjoyed xx
Another great video Jodie .That Chevy was just awesome and Jonesies Williams my favourite F1 car
Pretty crazy right Les?! Glad you enjoyed xx
I love it!!! A great day with passionate lovers of racing. This is paradise.
Heaven! Xx
My heart has blown to bits all them F40 s and F50 s wow wow wow
Kidd, I just discovered your CZcams channel by accident. It is absolutely the best show. I saw you first with Nigel's interview. It was the best natural conversation and not your typical journalist asking questions. Continue with your own style and do not change it.
Welcome along! Glad to have you here!
that was so cool Jodie thanks, Alan Moffat was Canadian and was a very successful racing driver in the 60s and 70s and early 80s. he was lucky to get 1 of 7 trans am mustangs built by the factory in the 60s and have 200 wins in it
Allan Moffat was Canadian born but a proud Australian where he spent nearly all of his racing career & is a Legend here in Australia, he had 101 wins in the Trans am Mustang also, he won championships & Bathurst races. Raced Fords, Mazda , Holdens in Touring cars & others in Sports Sedans , amongst other categories. He also was an expert commentator & pit reporter for Channel 7 & his son James is a very successful racer here in Australia also.
Watching Allan racing while growing up along with all the other greats of the era & then listening to his emotional heartfelt commentary later was a great time in motorsport.
That Chevy Monza is a gem, I was a little disappointed with Zac in this day & age that he should have known a little more about the Monza & background of it, seeing as he bought it, plenty of info is out there.
@@natelasaede8296 and don't forget he was given a lifeline by the late great Peter Brock in the Twilight of his racing career. The untimely death of Brock hurt Allan deeply.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Allan at a sponsors day and he genuinely took more interest in my friends race car and aspirations than anything else that day.
An absolute giant of Australian Motorsport for sure.
You are certainly the luckiest kid in that amazing sweet shop!! Excellent video.
Haha right!! Thanks Charles xx
Another cool vlog. Thanks Jodie.
Glad you enjoyed it Brendan! Xx
Lovely cars and another brilliant interview Jodie 🚘🚙🚗⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Jimmy xx
That is an impressive collection of cars. One day I may be lucky enough to have a track car, but nothing on this scale. Great video as always
Dreamy! Thanks Jason xx
The good thing is the fun isn’t directly linked to the cost of the track toy.
Get something you can run and maintain, have some friends who are equally passionate and have fun.
@@ErikB750 totally agree. The joy comes from also fixing and maintaining it as well. So many cheap BMW 330s that are ideal
Loved it Jodie, keep smashing it x.
Thank you Mike, glad you enjoyed xx
Good to see Zak driving his cars and not stuck in a garage deep underground (did you get to drive any of the other cars at Donnington that day ?)as always another great video 👍
Exactly. Not this time! Xx
Looks like Great Fun, I hope you got to drive something too! Thanks Jodie😎👍🇨🇦
Not this time Alan xx
i love ur vids. keep up the good work
Thanks William xx
God bless you Jodie Kidd, i remember the open top Viper days and you on the Gumball Rally with plenty of shenanigans going on (good old Max got to love him) nearly 20 years ago OMG LOL, Great channel love it, i look forward to new episodes
Hilarious haha. Thanks!! Xx
Well done Jodie! Great little video. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great collection, Great guy and another Great Video Jodie 👍
Thank you Andy xx
Zak is the only F1 guy i would genuinely like to have lunch with, What a guy! 😀
Keep up the good work Jodie 👍
He’s so nice! Thanks Peter xx
Titel of this channel absolutely covers the content. Loved it.
Glad to hear it! Xx
Ohhh Jodie....... MORE Please..... I love Historic Cars...... Many memories for me and some Amazing Cars and sounds ......... PLEASE PLEASE do some more...... :-)) xxxx
Working on it haha xx
@@KiddinaSweetShop Bless you Darling.... :-))) xxxx
Another amazing vlog Jodie
Thanks 💙💙
7:55 aaaand boom goes the dynamite
Love your passion.
Thanks Raymond xx
Good old Zak is quite the wheel man, to go from the raw brute of a Dekon Monza, tube frame, 600 hp plus small block Chevy, originally a 4 speed gearbox and very little aero to the Williams with its ground effects and dogbox with 500 hp to the 4wd Audi with BOOST and easily 600 plus hp! He drives the all with aplomb. Well done Jody, well done.
Very cool! Thanks Bryan xx
another great episode! would be awesome to see some more footage of zac driving the audi =)
Head to @supercardriver Instagram xx
Love it! Went in expecting Zak’s expertise and then got a nice interview about the current season 😁
Hope you enjoyed it! x
Mr Brown is quite an endearing character.
I think he has a soft spot for you as well.
He sure is! Xx
The Alan Jones car was my first F1 love! A while ago now! LOL!
Got to love a Breitling Jodie. ;-)
🥰
Jodie looks amazing, the cars look amazing...Wonderful upload Jodie.....Have you raced the Bedford Autodrome?....Best track day I ever did 💖
Thanks! Not yet xx
What a treat, Alan Moffat and Alan Jones racing cars plus the inline five Audi, us aussies love it!
I love having some Aussie machines on the channel!
Great episode Jodie!
Thanks Paul! Xx
Excellent Jodie. Nothing like a ground shaking -hit you in the guts, unsilenced V8!!
You know you are alive.
Right!!!! Xx
Awesome!
💙
Another cracking interview from the goddess of motorsport... and Zak is such a cool guy, you wouldn't think he was the main man at McLaren.
He's a top guy! The perfect guy for running the team and incredibly down to Earth.
@@KiddinaSweetShop god you're amazing. Keep up the good work
Mr. Chandhok nailed it when he mentioned that the sound is part of the thrill of motor-racing -- speaking of which, are your ears still ringing from that explosive start-up of Mr. Brown's car? Very nice clothing ensemble - the tainia you were wearing made you look like a Greek goddess.
Fun, quick video, it looked like, as we say in Louisiana, "You pass a good time cher."
The noise of that Monza was epic!
The day was epic, but very busy! So only managed to grab a few minutes with Zak.
Congratulations.. amazing video.
Thank you xx
That Audi is impressive! I remember when it was for sale in 2016. It had 500+hp from a 2.1in original race trim. And he's wondering how much more they got? The boys raced GT500 in Japan as well... Walter Rohrl, Hans-Joachim Stuck throttle and Hurley Haywood. WOW. Z Brown loves his winning rides
Amazing. Xx
Best of the lot...the 5 cylinder engine never fails to deliver on soundtrack 🙂
You two seem to get on really well?… Another great video…
Zac brown has my dream race car in the Audi 200 quattro IMSA car wow 😍, best channel for me on youtube
Thank you 🙏
Please say there's another part to this, great video
Wow, imagine driving the Moffat Chevy around Bathurst back in the day... must have been an absolute blast across the top of the mountain.
The dream! Xx
Because it's a Sports Sedan it wasn't allowed to be in the Bathurst endurance race. As Alan was racing for Ford they asked him to stop racing the Monza for a few years. So I don't think it ever had the opportunity to race at Bathurst
I couldn't go to the special, secret, secret track day, because I was on double - secret probation.
Love the Monza, very underrated car & not many out there anymore. One of my favorites.
Super special xx
My heart has melted not looking at Jodi but looking at that Audi
It’s great to see Zak’s enthusiasm for Cars , he’s also got a large (Scalextric )slot car track possibly would make a good video ? Cheers Jim
That could be fun Jim xx
Zak knows and loves his Motorsport. Alan Moffat car is very much on the outer edge of all the stuff he has
2 cars iconic to Aussie motor sport, Allan Jones' Williams F1 Number 27 and Allan Moffat's Monza Sport Sedan, not sure of the history of the car but it is left hand drive so could be Canadian but Allan M is Canadian who had great success in Australia , cheers, Garry From DownUnder
What Karun said is spot on the noise is everything about motorsport along with the smell of Castrol R off course 😋
👏🏼 so true xx
My first F1 race was when I was 2 in Canada. Alan Jones won in that car. Can’t say I remember it but it’s really cool Zak has the car.
I was lucky enough to meet Zak and get his signature at the Goodwood FoS. Super nice guy!!
Epic xx
I actually thought the DeKon Monza was the better looking of the 3. Really appreciate all the content and getting to see cars we normally wouldn't see and hear from such interesting people.
Pretty special right? Glad you enjoyed xx
Another good video from this great woman.
Thank you Chris, appreciate it xx
@@KiddinaSweetShop you fully deserve my compliments. Your making Zak very popular with Motorsport fans because your engaging with him in such a way as to create a connection with people which otherwise wouldn't happen. So very good work keep it up.😁😁
Another good video with more insight into unseen motorsport, only one complaint, the video was far to short , we want more , many thanks and regards Davy 🏴 Xxx
Sorry 😢 haha xx
That Chevy is a beast! Can't beat the sound of a V8! :0)
It is! What a special thing.
Ohhh god. Let’s keep racing for combustion 😅
I made a comment in the latest Audrain Museum YT and said Jodie can interview celebrities and extract details from them that no one else can do .......this illustrates my opinion perfectly . And Karun is a complete car nut and very knowledgeable but Zak has all the toys !!! Thanks Jodie .
He sure does lol. thanks John xx
‘Kin ‘ell Jodie, they just get better and better and better. You have so found your niche, congratulations.
Thanks so much 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Never thought I'd see the day that the boss of McLaren would own and drive a Williams. So sick! :P
Curious to find out more about which chassis it is. Alan Jones won the non-championship Spanish GP on June 1st 1980, and then the next two rounds that counted toward the Formula 1 championship, France and Spain, as Zak alluded to, in the weeks to follow. SO perhaps this was his car from mid-season before it was shifted back to a spare car? (No mention of Alan's wins that followed to finish the season in Canada and the US).
Would love to see Zak out in his Aussie Toll Commodore V8 Supercar. Did you get to go out for a ride Jodie. Great video.
Not this time Graham haha xx
Really nice to see your genuine excitement. Proper petrol
Head!
Thanks Guy xx
Audi 200 trans am alongside the 90 imsa gto are what dreams are made of. Especially from someone who only does vw/audi things.
Fantastic Jodie, what passion is shown by all. Oh how I wish CZcams had smellOvision so we could enjoy all the high octane fuels being burned!
Indeed.
It was insane!!! Xx
Thought you were doing Caffeine & Machine in May. Not seen it yet
We did! Didn’t film tho too busy chatting to subscribers 🥰 xx
Zak sure is a super fan
Incredible guy xx
Seeing an F1 car in Leyland livery 😮’ bit like seeing Cadbury chocolate bars ‘ in Whiskas wrapping.
Wow !
Pretty special! Xx
Have we ever seen Jodie look so beautiful and happy #jeansheaven
Fabulous cars especially the Audi ❤️
Great to see
Aw thanks Iain xx
@@KiddinaSweetShop Seriously Jodie , this was a wow xx
Hi Jodie great video I would love to have a shot in all of the cars what a noise of them that’s what motor races should be like cheers jj
Imagine! Xx
I just love that 200 quattro, what a fantastic beast. Wish I had his toys! You get the best invites, any room for a fat bus driver?🤭🤭
😂😂😂
Yeah..hearing that car start up at the very beginning of this film makes me guess this event is not that much of a secret meet lol
That aside, the sound of that Audi (including the chirps of that sweet turbo) brings back soooo many memories 😍😍😍
Question is, what is you’re preferred weapon of choice on track (considering you’ve been in your own fair share of beasts)
The sound out of that stock car OMG,
Pretty crazy! Xx
Great content I remember Allan Moffat chev Monza sports sedan it caused a uproar at the time cause Allan was dedicated ford man
Hero! Xx
“A let your hair down “, event . And Why Not ! Great to hear race cars being used as they should be, long may it continue.
Absolutely!! Xx
Fabulous in every respect 👍
Thanks Wayne xx
I hope this was just a teaser for a longer video?
Gosh Kidd you are so cool..........
🥰🥰
