    Maybe it would have been slightly better with a 360 hinge. Then it could theoretically compete as a portable 2 in 1?

    • @antiisocial
      @antiisocial Před 5 lety +21

      Good idea! Or if not 360 than maybe it could swing around enough to make it stable at an angle when using only the touch screen?

    • @cruelplatypus67
      @cruelplatypus67 Před 5 lety +1

      That would significantly increase engineering cost resulting in total cost of product increase. Noone would buy this if it cross $1k mark even with 360deg hinge.

    • @SaruwatariMasahiro
      @SaruwatariMasahiro Před 5 lety +4

      @@cruelplatypus67 wow...god no this isn't apple who charges 999 for a stand.
      It's just a marketing research / functionality decision. Alternatives with that hinge and even a pen for writing from chuwi and another brand already exist and are the same price or cheaper. The problem is that the writing and touch experience isn't ideal on windows, especially when you use it on a such a small screen. GPD researched this and decided it was not worth it. People who want touch/pen will go for an ipad.
      They are targeting the niche of people that need a super portable full laptop to do laptop things.

      It's a crowdfunded thing so far, still in the prototype stage. But GPD has a great track record and are very trustworthy that they'll ship. You can get a 1k version with 16gb ram and 512gb storage or a 700 version with 8gb/256gb. Both don't have any upgradavility so choos what you want well.

    I have a first gen GPD Pocket and I have to say its a great laptop for on the go.
    It is alot thicker and probably the same weight as this device, you can comfortably use the touchscreen without it moving at all....
    That would be the only downside to this laptop unless the battery life turns out to be poor.
    My GPD pocket gets 6 hours of battery life under actual use case conditions and the keyboard is very good.
    While it is a small form factor there are alot of uses for a machine like this, especially considering the power you are getting.... its more than enough computing power for the average person.
    Grab a USB-C dock and just come home to plug this laptop into a monitor/keyboard and be done with it.
