      When is the Nintendo Switch VR headset being released?
      The Switch literally is the only console that comes with VR controllers built in, but no, they wasted the opportunity 😭😭
      So much could've been done with the HD rumble and Joy-Cons with a wrist strap, but no 😢
      (And no, Labo VR doesn't count, it should be more than an Ikea cardboard headset, like it should be already built when you but it and use the same plastic the rest of the console uses...
      Like that's still better than nothing of course, but I wish it was more.)

    Im still searching for a fully working Atari Jaguar for my collection. To this day I have never even seen one in the wild so I am eager to find one and just spend a full day playing the hell out of it someday haha

      DreamcastGuy I feel very fortunate to have gotten my Jag brand new, along with a ton of new games, back in the late 90's/early 00's when new old-stock was plentiful and everything was cheap! I paid at most $30 for Rayman and Atari Karts, which is unheard of now. I've stumbled upon many Jaguar's in the wild, but I have a couple great retro shops around me that always seem to have great stuff. I haven't purchased a game off eBay is 3 or 4 years.

      @@myrongaines5542 some great titles but $45-69 for games is elevated. Defender 2000 is a game I don’t own, but I’m not over $195 for a copy. After the system died there were still a couple of companies working to put finishing touches on unreleased games and sell them, and they were $80 a pop. With inflation they’d only cost about $105-110 dollars. Scarcity it one thing but putting money on the hands of those that work to program games is another and supporting authors feels worthwhile.

There's also "Lemmings", "Creature Shock", "Dragon's Lair" and "The 7th Guest". Raiden scrolls left and right in the arcade because the monitor is turned 90 degrees on its side....so yes that big brown stained panel on the Jag version AND the stupid left right scrolling being implemented together is a monumental mistake. Clearly the correct thing to do is to show ALL the playfield so the screen width of a regular 4:3 screen is filled with graphics and sod the scrolling reveal left and right. It looks like an Atari ST version.

    • @atarijaguarsgarage8873

      Raiden is not 4:3 and the game is not designed for that. Curiously any Raiden version I've played on PS3 or PS4 has those frame graphics left and right on 16:9 TVs. The same with vertical shmups on Dreamcast, like Under Defeat.

    To help you solve the mystery of Rayman's presence on the Jaguar, it is to be known that Rayman was initially a Jaguar exclusive title (though some early prototypes of a SNES version have been recently found, they never made it further than the prototype stage). Playstation and Saturn versions were ports. Enriched ports, but still ports.

    • @implantgames
      @implantgames  Před 6 lety

      That doesn't solve the mystery. The mystery is *why* was it being programmed for the Jag in the first place? The answer is probably because Atari was still reasonably popular in France.

    • @WhoIsLudwig
      @WhoIsLudwig Před 6 lety

      implantgames you may be right. The ST line of computers was really popular here until the mid 90’s after all.

    • @atarijaguarsgarage8873
      @atarijaguarsgarage8873 Před 5 lety

      @@implantgames Nope. Because the Jaguar had the power to do such 2D animation with 16 bit color/60 FPS. 3DO was too expensive and the 32X could not pull that off. PS1 and Saturn came 1 year later. So what brought the devs to Jaguar was it's capabilities matched their vision for the game.

  • @Kickemintheghouliesdojo

    Nice List, Yes Burnout is pretty neat. I had Raiden but sold it may moons ago. Jaguar would have competed had IBM been able to produce the consoles, apparently Atari HAD 2 MILLION PRE-ORDERS across the world. Many in Europe where the Atari ST was popular. IBM where not savvy with manafacturing high volume and managed only a pitiful 250'000 units, with many pre-orders being canceled. They couldn't claw back the hit after that , especially after the news of PS1 and Saturn was out. Here in the UK Atari made Rumbleows sole distributor for the system, they very shorlty after went into liquidation, leaving Atari without a distributor in the UK.

    • @ArneChristianRosenfeldt
      @ArneChristianRosenfeldt Před rokem

      They had a low yield. Now I don’t know if engineers modify the masks while the production runs. I can only imagine that some parts of the chips had trouble to reach the clock rate. Also the design has race conditions. So I guess that engineers modified the masks to tune transistors width or even change a route or two.

    I had a Jag and a Jag CD and I'm gutted that I sold the both of them (in 2003) from a collecting point of view but there is no arguing it- the vast majority of games were awful. Alien Vs Predator was astounding at the time but was as buggy as hell and does not hold up well at all. The only game worth playing now is Tempest 2000 (I'm not counting Doom which you can get elsewhere) which is quite possibly the greatest arcade game ever made. Atari Karts and Super Burnout!- I owned both of these in the 90s and they were both terrible compared to like for like games at the time. (Although they were better than Club Drive and Checkered Flag!) However, I appreciate your passion for the system.

  • @atarijaguarsgarage8873

    I should be thankful for a yt video not trashing the Jaguar, but: people are still buying Jaguars for Alien vs Predator, Doom or Iron Soldier. IMO those games show what the Jaguar is about, they are technically beyond anything the 16 - bit systems could do and provide some nice depht of gameplay. Super Burn Out and Atari Karts are both quite shallow carbon copies of better originals, coming much too late in the Jaguars lifecycle and being absolutely behind the curve in terms of technology and gameplay features. Being an early adaptor of this system, I ignored Raiden because it was nothing special and I played much better shmups on the SNES. Instead I played and enjoyed hours of Cybermorph before buying my second game, Tempest 2000. The 16 bit stuff was lame, and I still think most of it is.

Let's be honest, none of the games in the jaguar library are super mario, castlevania or chrono trigger level of quality games and I looked at the list of games jaguar had to offer. and considering there's so many good games out nowadays with Steam and all that, it makes it even less tempting. Developement for Jaguar was too hard for his own good, Atari was never very good making hardware since Atari 2600... and yes, the controller sucks, you can't argue with that xD. Even this 5 games are not really console-sellers, no wonder how they failed so much, they did't care much about game quality. And no third parties, no win.
    PD: The motorcicle game... it's not much better than Hang out in Master System, in fact the latter is much more playable xD. Overall I think the Jag was not overrated, is was poorly made and had almost no support at all. So is the hardware is crap and the games are crap, the final conclusion is: crap xD. Greetings.
