- In this video, we're trying to rebuild the washer pump again with some Corvette parts. One of the viewers recommended trying a Corvette bellows from about the same year, so I picked up one from Corvette Specialties of MD West. It's part number 1044 and retails for ~$18.
You can find it here: www.csofmdwest...
Corvair videos coming out soon regarding the engine, hopefully in the next couple weeks.

Sean, seeing you figuring out this little pump is like explaining the way the heart pumps blood. One way valves that you figured out thinking about the way the heart works. Good job.
I rebuilt mine two months ago, you're almost there. Pull those metal squirter pipes out and put an air gun hooked up to your air compressor and blow them out.
Got one fixed and the other was damaged (likely from a previous owner)
Good to see updates. Hopefully good news on the engine coming soon. Keep at it!
Thanks!
I appreciate your struggle, Brother Sean! I live in LA now but my Corvair and I are both from Charleston SC. I love my car even though it has had numerous issues as you have. Keep it up!
Thank you!
Thanks for another informative video, always enjoy watching!!!
Nice update!
I went to Napa and got a universal washer pump kit they have and used a piece of metal to mount it next to the washer bottle with the wires run to the electrical connector for the stock pump the difference is amazing and the electric pump is worth the swap
I finally got it to work, but that was my next step!
Good to know. Trying to fix the speaker in my '65 today. They are a weird design and conventional speakers won't fit like these ones. Still pondering...
Got it working (finally). I don't have speakers in this one but a (working) radio is on the short list after the engine build.
@@AutoAnatomy Moved onto getting a set of used Chevy Rally wheels stripped and painted. Some new raised white letter BF Goodrichs are on the way!
I notice you have some pressure at the squirters, but no volume. My recommendation is to get some welding tip cleaners and try to clean the corrosion and scale from the inside of the tubes. One other thing, I would take the time to change the master cylinder to a dual master. I have done that with my '66, and I'm getting ready to do that on my '64. Safety first!
I changed out the squirrels and it works great now!
And stay tuned, brake master upgrade coming soon!
go back to and rewatch "Rebuilding the Washer Pump & possible ENGINE FAILURE on the" @6:18 and you'll see you put one of the three check valves in backwards blocking the suction side of the pump from the washer reservoir.
I figured that out shortly afterwards!
@@AutoAnatomy yeah I went and finished the second video after seeing that mistake, those old pumps were never that great even new... dad bought his first brand new car in 1960, a corvair... loved that car especially after he put dual exhaust on it. Yes it was louder, but in a good way.
I replaced my bellows a couple of years ago, got it at the national convention. Is Clarks out of stock? Those washers are so cool as they are timed to miss the wiper arms.😎
Clark’s only sells complete motors now if the bellows are damaged. I’d really like to get these working correctly again so I’m not giving up yet!!
I would’ve been throwing things!
I certainly thought about it!
On your missfire, pull the pan and measure the cam lift. You might only have a collapsed lifter.
The lifters were brand new and the misfire was there prior to the lifters. Regardless, I've already torn the engine down again and it's getting some big upgrades!
Partsgeek sells the complete washer pump for $66
