A terrible situation, but one that means it's time to move on. Or...move back. To the original KSP, and at this point, the ONLY KSP! Yep, if Take-Two refuses to let the remaining IG staff communicate then this is what we have to assume, good job corporate lol.

One of the best parts about KSP1 is you can make it KSP2 with enough mods
except that the loading time is 3 times the one on ksp 1 stock and it gets to like 30X with mods...
You can make it better than KSP2 with mods
@@todeilfungo exactly, like KSP2
@@thenemeancub9458 KSP2's loading time, and loading time alone, was better than KSP1.
Given how bad KSP 2 is, there's absolutely no reason to do that.

That's an ultra-modded KSP 1 system now.
Same here, At least you got a good one now

I was convinced to go into Aerospace engineering after seeing the KSP2 trailer. I am now a few exams away from getting my 1st level degree in aerospace engineering and KSP2 as was promised still basically doesnt exist and likely never will.

I just hope that another studio takes over KSP2 and finishes the roadmap given to us. It had such good potential
agreed
It won't happen. T2 sits on its dead IPs for years to make sure they don't go public.
Given Shadowzone’s video, it’s in no state for that to work. Just about every bad decision was made for the games development, nothing short of a hard reset will work and Take2 will very likely never do that, theykl just keep thinking about how it “bombed” and not how both intercept and higher management basically held its head under water and wondered why it drowned.
imean why would they? there is no money to gain from it so very unlikely, however sad it may be
i would be willing to pay 10-30€ more to have what was promised, bcs the hours that would go into it (me gaming imean) would make that price basically 0
@@Syntex366 the amount of bad decisions and ineptitude at every level was....baffling...the whole thing was absolutely doomed from day one due to just who they hired (pretty much all new fresh programmers with no experience and no one with engineering knowledge).

Nothing will happen at all with KSP2. Its not the first time Take Two closed a studio, told everyone they are still working on it, and you never heard of it again.
It’s also not the first game Intercept made and they all pretty much went like this
I didn't jump on the KSP2 hype train and from now on, I will only get early access games from indy devs. Sure, there's also no guarantee that the game will come out. But when their budget is smaller and their jobs depend on the game being successful, they'll pour more effort into it and they deserve the money for it. Big corporations like taketwo won't go bankrupt, just because one of their games isn't successful. Just fire a few people that did nothing wrong, kill the project, take the money and run. And of course KSP2 was pretty unique in it's secrecy and covid had an impact on it too. But it's also not the first time, a big brand game just gets killed without reason.
@@robyn051 Totally agreed ! Nate Simpson has a famous record of unfinished games...
@@FailRaceFanAlso people really have to do their due diligence when backing an independent devs. The indie scene also have their scum.
@@janremongalura5713 Yes that can be true. But big corporations can get away with it more often.
This game and cities skylines two should serve as a kind of lesson.
Making the same exact game but with insurmountable performance issues isn't exactly making a sequel. Just keep updating and supporting the game you have.
The worst thing is they nearly got it right, but then Nate Simpson let his heart rule his head and sold Take 2 on a bunch of impossible goals. And now his dream is dying perhaps more so than ours. :(
@@eekee6034Did they though? It seemed like a failure from the start. That's why I never gave a penny to KSP2
Seriously. I'd gladly pay for official mod integration in the original Cities Skylines. Like, they could have made Cities 2 by taking the original Cities; tweaking the engine; officially adding mods like Move It, TM:PE, Undo It, the Anarchy mods, 81 Tiles, etc; and expanding the asset library, and I'd have been happy with that.
CSII is actually a fine game, unpopular opinion. It actually has more features than CSI. Sure, not many mods, but I wasn't playing with many mods in CSI anyway.
@@eekee6034 That isnt Nates fault. Take 2 doesnt have to shutter and fire. It isnt like they are hurting for money. They could have just let the dev team take their time and work on it.
I'm just mourning the inter colony resource trading, as a factory game player that's what I was really looking forward to. Logistics
Yeah, that would have been great.
There’s a mod for KSP1 that lets you record flights to do exactly what KSP2 “promised.” Just hit record, fly the mission once, and then you can replay that mission again in the future whenever you want and it follows the same delta-v profile to take the same resources between the same bodies. Davon Supply Mod is what I used, but there’s also Routine Mission Manager. Not sure which is cleanest/most updated.
You could always try a simple logistics mod in KSP1. It doesn't even have to be with one of the big mods, like MKS, there's one that adds the function directly to stock parts, if you're a purist.

My god I love the fact that he's back on this game.
Let this be a lesson to everyone: Don't buy Early Access games. Make the developer finish V1.0 before getting paid, at the very least.
Anyone who bought it outside of content creators are fools and support the "pay now play later" toxic mindset.
It worked for KSP1. The lesson is "don't support big publishers who go early access"
*don't buy _corporate_ early access games

That's not the lesson.
The lesson is to pay what the product is worth.
KSP 2 was never worth what they were charging. If it was completed to what they were aiming for, it might have been, and that was the time to buy it.

Welcome home.
For the future I'd be interested in modular construction of large interplanetary colony ships from components that fit in mk3 cargo bays.
I knew we would come back to this, even before the KSP2 release, which was released on "early access" for a reason.
Why are you quotation marking early access? There isn't anything deceiving about it, it's in the name. It's pre-ordering but you get to experience all the instabilities of a game not yet ready. KSP2 was in Early Access not a full release

I am devastated about the state of KSP 2, hopefully it all ends well, despite not looking good now. Nice vid, back to the roots! You should play RP-1, best modpack I have ever played for KSP, I am currently consuming it viciously after the sad KSP 2 news.

I think maybe a lowne aerospace 3 is in order, but this time with mods, more parts, more destinations, maybe even interstellar?
That would be pretty cool
For a final video, perhaps doing that final boss "10 Kerbals to Eve and back" mission?
Others have kinda alluded to it but until we get KSP2 development I really want to see a 'standard' pack of mods developed for KSP that basically 'turn it into' KSP2 and I'd love to see you specifically on board and leading that as a project. Ideally it should push the game's graphics quite a lot, but it should *also* add fundamentally new mechanics in a balanced and 'Kerbal" way. Obviously you can already achieve this right now by piecemealing your own mods together, but having it become much more standardised would allow it to be polished a lot more and make it much easier for people to install. There are lots of great examples from past games of 'supermods' or 'epic mods' that are basically this concept, they start as separate mods/parts then get put into the same pack, developed and refined *together* to become greater than the sum of their parts and then the whole thing is offered with an installer for convenient use.
The KSP community has already done a massive modpack in the from of RSS/RP-1/RO
@@LiamPowers-vq3fl Yeah, kinda like that, although RO is quite different from the base game. Need something a lot closer to the stock game

ShadowZone's video is good, yup.
A skeleton crew pushing out one last update is what I'm expecting too. Part of me is hoping they'll open-source what's left, I lived through the Netscape open-sourcing; that was wild, and several other incredible things followed. I doubt it'll happen though; the corporate side of the KSP debacle is completely different to what happened with Netscape and business fashion seems to be turning against open source right now.
I think a bit of closure would be good for many of us, even those like myself who never bought the game.
There's the real Minmus! 😃I'm being silly, -KSP2's- _the other_ Minmus is great too, but this Minmus looks like a part of Mercury's terrain. KSP2 was never going to live up to expectations. KSP2 would have been just fine with an engine and graphic overhaul, along with new parts and missions. I was never sold on the interstellar part traveling to new systems. Those flights would have been extremely slow and boring. Filling out the Kerbin System with all kinds of new things would have been fine. There were too many things promised that sounded nice in theory. The development team also seemed to lack competent leadership and direction. The lead dude reminded me so much of Todd Howard. That should have been a red flag for everyone. One time at a school trip to the Valleyfair park in Minnesota (end of the school year thing), my brother and one of his friends smuggled a chessboard with some of the pieces glued on onto one of the rides so that when the souvenir camera started shooting he could pretend to appear to be pondering his next move.
dayum Matt your commentary was REALY all over the place this time! I absolutely loved it! xD
I would recommend doing a series with a custom system with many more bodies and interstellar travel.
Maybe throw in principia, which makes many more types of orbits possible.
custom systems and principia don't always go well together: some if not most are unstable, although that could be a feature. Imagine making a rendevous to a moon that is about ot be ejected from the system.
The more annoying aspect of that is some missions become unfeasable or not worth the rewards.("land on Duna" becomes "chase after the wandering Planet")
I've learned so much about ksp mission oriented design from your videos. I've been eager to see a return to ksp1.
As for the future, do what makes happy. I would love to see you keep Space This Week, it's own thing. Its really insightful, you usually capture stuff other channels miss. Given the mod potential of KSP1, who knows? You could explore it more and maybe long enough that modding for it will resume. I not played KSP2, perhaps it could be modded? Wishful thinking? Hope you find way forwards, Matt
We need a latest and greatest must have mods list video for KSP1!
I learned how to build an SSTO because of your videos! Love the return of the SSTO.
Thank you for making videos, it makes me forget about my hiper oppressive parents.
I can imagine the astronauts watching the antics of KSP2 and laughing, knowing full well about their growing pains early on. I think we can officially say that KSP is a game which does the impossible
one suggestion i have for things you can do in ksp1, check out different planet packs. Outer Planets Mod, Minor Planets Expansion, Quackpack, and even bigger stuff like Kcalbeloh (my beloved). it'd be really cool seeing one of your SSTOs breach the skies of Efil, with the gas giant Anehta in the background, and the black hole Kcalbeloh visible off in the distance. just an idea
Hi Matt, Firstly keep doing these vids they are superb. With the sad demise of what was a promising game in KSP2 what would be your best mods to install to get KSP into the void that 2 has failed to fill?
Dodged a bullet not getting KSP2. I look forward to future KSP1 vids and hope you take it easy on that bum rib!
Thanks for returning to the game that started it all, KSP 1! Very sad about KSP 2, what a mess!!! But at least we have the base game and the mods and folks like you to show us what can still be done with it. Looking forwards to more vids from you.
I look forward to the "How to turn KSP1 into KSP2" Video!
this was all part of a big conspiracy to get matt to play real solar system
I never even knew there was a KSP 2, but then again I haven't even played KSP 1 in years
So glad you're back to playing Kerba Space Program watching you work around the bugs of that other space game was painful.
I'd love to see a full planet pack series where you learn the new planets
