@@daytonpannell uh, this is Campaign 3, all campaigns happen in the same universe of Exandria and most of the player characters from past campaigns are still alive and (like here) they can run into them sometimes. But its not like, a direct continuation.

Paté and Chetney being the stealth scouting duo from now on, surely this can only go well.
Pate can also turn invisible at will, and is surprisingly tanky for a familiar. I think he’ll be a welcome ally for Chet.

One of the saddest parts is that because Laura rolled low, Matt says that the shadows are holding her words back from the ears that need to hear them... meaning Laudna never heard what Imogen said. :(
Maybe it comes back later on dreams. There is canon, yes, but remember that you are an active viewer. In life, in game, and in New Jersey.
That entire first half was just beautiful. Seeing Laudna actively fighting against her own traumatic memories, realizing that what she remembers is no longer there, that instead of being dead and broken, Whitestone has been healed. Much like herself. The broken, cracking voice delivery and body language was easily some of Marisha's finest role-playing, showing us that she's finally willing to let the mask down. And boy did it ever once she began embodying the Sun Tree with the veil crumbling (SYMBOLISM!) and feeling that it's so warm. The painful memories are still there, but she's rewriting them as she goes.
And the child... she wasn't scared. She liked Laudna as is. Everywhere else, she would be kept at a distance. But in this town that is no stranger to death and life and in-between, Laudna's just another person here. Just another fun-scary lady.
That right there, as well as Vex and Percy greeting her properly, says it all.
A daughter of Whitestone was welcomed home that day, and she would always be welcome whenever she wished to come back.
But not now. Not when they gotta resolve that weird moon shit.
A general fascination with and embracing of the macabre would fit right in with the Victorian vibe Whitestone's always had while also making sense with its in-world history. Also, while who knows where this campaign is going, it'd be adorable if Laudna and Imogen sunset the campaign together by going full cottage-core and getting a home together in Whitestone.
This needs more likes.

The fact that Matt kept those contacts in the whole episode is worth appreciating. Dude must have been real uncomfortable.
Travis was so proud at how happy he made Laura with that horse, they're so damn cute.
I love that Matt took every instance of Laudna giving Pate a voice and personality and just said "LETS DO IT". He didnt hold back on how weird he was or how he's just a pervert, he was like "This is who Laudna made, ok."
With the contacts in Matt's eyes, it really works well when he is playing Pate. I imagine Pate with those eyes.
I'm gonna need Pate and Mister to team up and solve crimes.
Somehow we need a sequel to the familiar one-shot Marisha did, with Sprinkle, Nugget, Mister, Pate, and Trinket's kids. I don't care what the excuse is.
I'm actually gonna need Pate and Mister to team up and DO crimes.
One turns up the heat, the other brings on the creep.
THEY FIGHT CRIME! (Or do it, if they can get away with it!)
The fire-rat familiars fit Bell's Hells so.
That nat 1 on trying to compel Laudna back was definitely deserved.
Edit: To be fair, he did say in the latest Four Sided Dive that he immediately realized it was a bad idea as soon as Laura went off on him about it a moment later.
Absolutely. I hope that in the future, Imogen has some CHOICE WORDS for Letters about that because she was NOT happy that they thought that "compelling someone to return by magical means" was the best way to appeal to a tortured soul who spent 33 years in her own perpetual purgatory even when alive.
That was not fun, FCG. That was scary-scary. (Though it does make sense in-character; he just didn’t realize how harmful that could be.)
@@AdamEspersona i feel like its very FCG too, theyve always had this weird thing about souls and wondering if hes a living being etc so having him try to force someone to live again really fits. cant wait to see imogens scolding tho
@@AdamEspersona first of all, i agree trying to compel Loud-Nah via magic means was not good, nor smart (might even say scummy), but i would say it fits into FCG's character just fine, either by his naive demeanor (he literally doesn't know better), or due to his glitchy status, IIRC the fight against Delilah left him very stressed out and he even began glitching by calling Paté "Escargot" and giving an improper recollection of something that Laudna told Orym and not FCG.
@@vanerek oh yeah, there's that too! I want to believe that Sam forgot that it was Orym and not them that Laudna talked to. Because just being able to "hear" things even when in stasis (such as how they somehow know that Orym had a husband before anyone else mentioned it, or other such details) feels rather unfair. And probably just something to weaponize should they go berserk again.
Overall, I thought that was just unfair.
I remember when in C1, Sam-as-Scanlan gave his big goodbye in E85 and he was even mentioning Percy's parents by name.
He was never told their names, he was just reading what he copied off the wiki XD

I mean yeah, trying to command Laudna was a bit much, but they all tried to get her back by any means necessary anyway.
But I'm also curious if it was FCG being naive/desperate, Sam just making a poor decision for the sake of creativity or actually having some hidden reasoning that led to this roll.
Red poppies are often worn as a sign of rememberence for fallen soldiers and loved ones during WWI. Liam going the extra mile every time he sits at that table.
Which is why he is the holder of the title "Best Boy"

@@matthijsclaessen8152 Otahan has some sort of power like Imogen where she can delve deeper into people's mind (or like what Nydas can do in Calamity") which she used on orym right before the big fight a few episodes back which is how she learned Eshtaross was involved, pretty sure she mentioned paying him a visit then

Also, there is an idea that some gms believe, that player resurections are paid for by favored NPCs doom. Kind of like a balance of re-atainment, and bitter loss.
And, re- commitment to the cause.
And possibly, the machinations of the Dutch.
I absolutely believe Imogen deserved advantage on that resurrection persuasion.
Maybe it was offset from FCG's nat one.
@@rebeckarydberg I think it would be unfair for someone else's offering to be punished for FCGs roll. I think if anything Matt wouldve made an adjustment to the DC based on the Nat 1, then Imogen's offering should be a clean slate.

Honestly, you can’t fault Ashley for wanting in on the chaos when trying to steal from her own character. As well as requesting a gun for her fire monkey to start an Exandria of the Apes.

The ending bro, now I'm wondering how the future is gonna be
i like how open-ended they left it. Idk if the crew have an idea of the Arcs for this campaign so far, but this felt like the ending of one. They managed to get outta bassarus, they've saved Laudna and have the freedom of an airship but Delilah absolutely has them in her crosshairs now, they've lost Eshtaross and have the ticking clock of the Solstice, Yu and Thull over their heads. It feels like the part of an open world game where the opening act in the starter town ends and the player is let loose into the world.

I wonder if Sam forgot Laudna wasn't talking to FCG when she gave that line in the Hartmoor, it was Orym she had that conversation with, or if its just hinting that FCG is mixing up everyone's memories with his own. it's hard to tell if that and the odd decision to use compel were simple player mistakes or intentional choices.
It's really not fair that even when in stasis, FCG can just record what everyone's saying and thus they know things.
If Sam merely forgot, I can forgive that. But if it was intentionally FCG using those details in an attempt to compel Laudna to come back... I don't think I'd be fine with Letters resorting to that tactic. Thankfully, we have 4 Sided Dive tonight and Sam is on, so hopefully THAT detail is discusses because I don't like it.
@@AdamEspersona - Personally, I think Sam was just trying to finagle some way to NOT use persuasion so that aspect could be left to Imogen, because storywise it didn't make sense for her character to use any other tactic, and I think everyone really wanted her to be at least one of the successes, so everyone was essentially trying to stack her deck as much as they could (Ultimately, I think that's the same reason Orym used the flowers was to see if he could spin that nature aspect) Sadly dice gods still went against her, fortunately the main roll still panned out.
If I may, humbly, suggest a point of view that paints FCG's behaviour as legit?
Here goes:
Mechanical efficiency and its inherently alien mindset, coupled with int of 9, results in near sociopathic _"immediate problem needs practical solution. Morals are irrelevant"_ attitude.
Which naturally translates into _"Want to know? Cast detect thoughts. Want people to feel better? Cast calm emotion. _*_Really_*_ want people to do something? Cast compel."_ behaviour.
As for FCG knowing things they're not privy to:
I think it is a combination of Liam's take "we don't roleplay pooping, and yet..." (I.e. We, the audience, do not see *everything* ) and FCG's very Liberal (aforementioned "dumb robot" mindset) use of detect thought.
Simply put: Assume FCG knows everything because the few times we've seen them abuse "detect thoughts" was probably Sam's way of saying "I am *so* doing this all the time, even when not RPing it".

Sam is playing a reflavoured Warforged, which don't sleep. While "in stasis", they're still fully concious and aware of their surroundings.
If any of the cast were playing an elf or a reborn, they could do the exact same thing.

Now, I'm sure I'm not the only one who comes here every week to see your fantastic timestamp titles, but I don't think I've ever agreed with one as much as the one for 8:02 this week.
I remember trying to watch this at my grandpas house while we were visiting him and everyone else was sleeping! I had to charge my iPad in a really weird position on the couch and I was so tired! I stayed up until the break I think then went to bed.
The costumes are AWESOME! XMen was my favorite show as a little kid in the 90s on Fox Kids! I can still hear the opening intro music to this day!
Also hilarious how everyone is half costumed after the break. The studio must’ve been really warm! And then their costumes must’ve been sweltering! I don’t know which one is my favorite!

I’m pretty sure that the horse’s tension is all rigged by rubber bands. I’ve got a dice catapult that I believe is from the same folks, and it gets a *ridiculous* amount of tension. Launched my lightest die nearly 30ft.
You know Marisha came up with that wind bit because of MAtt's glory in Undeadwood
