  • Who likes opening new paint tubes?? Join me as I swatch out and explore a 17 different colours I picked out from the Rosa Gallery tube watercolour range.
    Some time ago I swatched out Rosa Gallery tubes (see that review here: • How good are Rosa wate... ) and concluded that they might be a great artist watercolour for those on a budget. Putting my money where my mouth is, I have decided to buy more for my workshops (I supply all materials on my workshops, so the price point is important for me). I had to replace Lemon Yellow in the basic palettes, but then I just selected lots of other colours which caught my eye, including:
    Cadmium Lemon 702
    Bright Red 740
    Azo Yellow 771
    Carmine 708
    Azure Blue 762
    Pyrolle Red 775
    Golden yellow 730
    English Red 736
    Turquoise 714
    Madder Rose 726
    Coral 756
    Indigo 717
    Magenta Rose 709
    Sepia 720
    Blue Indanthrene 738
    Which is your favourite?? Let me know in the comments and if you have Rosa paints, which ones should I get next time? I have also reviewed the Classic Rosa 12 pan set • How good are Rosa Gall...

    Every week I share a tip, trick or technique I wish I had known when I started painting, so if you enjoyed this please like, comment and subscribe. Or if you have a watercolour problem, let me know and maybe I can help?

    Rosa Gallery are my new go to watercolours, they're very affordable, artist quality, vegan and support a Ukraine business as you mentioned! I'm really enjoying using them too, thanks for the in depth video! Although now I am tempted to buy more colours 😔

    Hey Liz, Paul Clark just gave one of your books a recommendation--painting watercolor on canvas. I think it's around the 11:30 mark of his latest q & a video. It's lovely to see artists supporting other artists.

    Hi Liz, I only found you today when looking for ruling pen instructions of all things (It helped btw) , and can't understand why you haven't come up on my you tube suggestions before. I follow a few watercolour artists, anyway so glad I found you. I am just a hobbyist, not great at it but I love doing it so I don't care. 😀 I have Rosa Gallery paints and I love them, they are such good value, I really enjoy them. Find them similar to Roman Szmal, which I also love, another very affordable good artist quality brand. I've watched a few of your videos today, loved them and also pressed 'Like' for each one I watched after watching your video regarding You tube statistics. Hope it helps x

    I think it's only fair to point out that we shouldn't blame people and or the incident businesses caught up in what their government decides to do.

      it is a blunt instrument, but so is doing nothing and simply being grateful you aren’t living there. From an economics view point, I am not sure any business is ‘innocent’. From a personal viewpoint, I ask ‘what can I do?’ and I can do this.

    Hullo Liz, I have a sketch selection of colors from Rosa Gallery and I have been enjoying them very much! I have also been considering buying some tubes to create a wider range of choices and to support Ukraine people too! Thank you for sharing your experience and expertise with us!
    I am just going to say something a little bit controversial: I did not even look at pigment numbers in the first 10 or 12 years that I started painting with watercolors! I hope everyone is aware that they don’t have to be a pigment nerd to enjoy painting with watercolors! I believe that it can be enough just to like a color and use it just because you like it! If you are thinking of selling your art then yes pigment information is so important, just don’t let it ruin your joy of painting what you enjoy painting!

    • @LizChadertonArt
      @LizChadertonArt  Před 27 dny

      Not controversial! I think it is worth understanding what’s in your paints to ensure they do what you anticipate and you get no unpleasant surprises, but to also enjoy their sheer beauty

    I have only bought one Rosa Gallery paint…Coral….and I really like it. I have discovered that mixing it with a bit of Buff Titanium makes a lovely, soft peach colour that is nice for florals or that peachy stucco colour you see on old buildings in some places. I don’t have an art store in my community. I have to drive over 100km to get to the nearest shop but they do carry Rosa paints for a very reasonable price. That magenta is so nice and I think I will buy a tube of that the next time I get to go paint shopping.

    Both your Rosa videos come in handy and just in time! I need to replace / add new colours to my palette with Rosa, and I find it difficult to pick a *reasonable* number from all those juicy and brilliant colours. I've had my eye on that maroon all the time! It seems close to caput mortuum, which I love.

    As for pronunciation of Pthalo, I get all of the things right in there. F-th-ay-low. But I have a plain old American East Coast accent so it doesn't sound fancy. It's flower names that trip me up. I grew up calling peonies Pee-OH-knees and clematis Clem-MAT-is which was just regional for where I grew up. I am just incapable of being proper I suupose. 😂

    You’re right life is political, we all have opinions, and we decide how to spend our money. After watching many discussions on the war in Ukraine, the narrative is very murky, and I’ll leave it there. Back to Rosa Gallery paints… I bought two 21 full pan palettes last year for $23 to $24 each, the mono pigment set and a different set. I haven’t painted with them yet. I have other palettes of watercolors to paint with so I decided I’ll open the new palettes once I’ve finished my current palettes (though that might take a while!)

    • @LizChadertonArt
      @LizChadertonArt  Před 27 dny

      yes, I agree it is murky. I believe one side is murkier than the other…. Back to paints - do you ever finish a palette? I finish a colour and top up with tube so they evolve and live forever….

      @@LizChadertonArt As I said, I WANT to buy from Russia. I don't agree with boycotting Russian products. I have some Rosa paints which are fine, they learned their skills from White Nights, where they started off. I don't mind buying Ukrainian stuff but politically I think the UK people are brainwashed by government propaganda into demonising Russia. Russia are just defending themselves against NATO aggression and Zelensky is a US puppet sacrificing his people for a US proxy war.

Two years ago Russia launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine, displacing millions of people and destroying homes and businesses across the country. So far over 10,000 Ukrainian civilians have died. For this reason, I choose to avoid Russian goods and I choose to support Ukrainian businesses where I can. I cannot influence the course of the war, but I can do this and I can provide information which might help others follow their conscience.
