Nice shirt! I figured with the way you talk about healthcare you'd be more aligned with Bernard!

bernie might be my candidate in an alternate world where his radical agenda might have a chance of becoming law, but in our world, i'll take the guy who has a better chance of achieve the same goals, but in a slightly more roundabout way (and it doesn't hurt if he also recognizes the problems of the future are just as, if not moreso, important to solve as the problems of the present and the past) :)

@@rahdo I respectfully disagree. Bernie's theory of change is different and involves using the bully pulpit of the presidency to bring the collective power of the people to bare on the legislative process. I.e. going to the states of senators/reps who get in the way of enacting the peoples agenda and rally the people to pressure them. Or supporting primary candidates against dems who dont support M4A, etc.. I honestly believe that this Organizer in Chief approach to the presidency is the only way to bring about real, positive change.
As to how radical his agenda: is a given policy really radical if a majority of americans support it? Go down the list of Bernie's policies, the polls show a majority of americans agree.
I think Yang is a genuine person who is honest at heart, and that does mean a lot to me. Most politicians aren't. I even like the idea of UBI, but I dont like how his proposal would make poor americans choose between their existing welfare benifits and the Freedom Dividend.
      Anyway, much love!

@@humblehermit88 indeed, but bernie's agenda is radical because to get it passed will require an ongoing "political revolution" (his term) which means that the groundswell of support he generates for election will have to stay active for literally years to push the agenda through (this isn't me talking, it's bernie who says this). i believe that once he's in office, we'll have another obama situation where the voters who got him there become disillusioned very quickly and won't continue to push. they'll think "right, bernie's in charge, he can fix it now", and even though he repeatedly, over and over tells people that his election will be just the beginning of a long protracted fight that people have to be engaged with for years, no one is hearing that.
so basically i see a repeat of the obama early years, when he didn't deliver his hope and change overnight, and we ended up with the 2010 teaparty landslide, which led to where we are now. I have faith in bernie that he will continue to fight, i don't have faith that his followers will in the numbers required, and without them, he won't be able to get anything done, since he's not known for being a compromiser. and seeing as how he's made an enemy of the most powerful forces in modern government every step of the way, i don't think he'll get very far.
Also, re: yang making people choose, fyi the vast majority of people who are eligible for federal assistance aren't getting any because of red tape and various blockages. and those that are getting it, on average make less than half of what they would get via UBI, so Yang's plan is still an insanely powerful tool to improve people lives. it's only in a very minority of cases where people are making close to or over 1000/month in existing programs, and even in those cases, yang wasn't to increase the amount those people get to bring parity with UBI :)
and the big plus is that it's a program that has already proven popular with republican lawmakers (see alaska),so it will be MUCH easier to get passed any just about anything bernie is attempting. same with yang's plan to fight climate change, address healthcare, etc. he's just coming at these problems with approaches that are much more pragmatic while still being hugely effective (largely because of his 'outside the box' approach), which is why he's my guy! :)

@@rahdo could be it happens that way. But Obama didn't try to keep his coalition engaged after they elected him, not in a meaningful way, so we dont know what would have happened if he had. Maybe they wouldn't have become disallusioned. I speak as someone who voted for the first time (at 20) in 2008 because Obama inspired me, and subsequently disappointed me. He didnt get progressive stuff done because he never wanted to. He had a super majority for two years and didnt even fight for a public option. You technically don't need to compromise if you have a super majority.
Yes Yang's UBI might help people greatly, but might only be used by landlords to charge higher rent. My problem is that it doesn't seem to address inequality. If anything it might help rich people more cause someone who gets $500 worth of welfare now will gain a net $500 a month through the "freedom dividend." Whereas a person wealthy enough to not qualify for welfare gains $1000 per month "free and clear," as Yang would say.
I think voting for these "compromise" candidates is what has gotten us into this mess in the first place. And think about what Bernie has gotten done with the power of "his" movement before even becoming president: getting raises for tens of thousands of Amazon and Disney employees, for example.
Anyway, I love you and your videos! I'm happy to discuss this with you and know you have a big heart. Nothing but respect!

I love OMG exactly because of its portability and low shelf space footprint. I do play it only solo though, I cannot bring myself to try to teach it to people I usually game with when I have so many other games which do not necessitate careful explanation of how exactly production chain works and why. :)
I must admit this game intrigues me, but while it's so easy to pull OMG out and play a game or two, this one just seems a bit too big and too involved for something that would be primarily a solo game experience.

In solo mode you start with 7 bonus tiles on the table. You have more than that.

Question: Do you suggest all the oh my goods games to get the full experience, or is this one enough? Or, does this one need the other expansions?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  Před 4 lety

this is totally standalone, so you don't *need* any of the prior OMG games. they are nice because it's a fun little "short" version of this full game, and they're prequels in terms of introducing characters, but you don't need to wach the star wars prequels to apprecaite a new hope, and the same is true here :)
